Xda community,
I decided to start this thread to help some newcomers along. When I was a NOOB, I had a lot of questions. I couldn't find the appropriate place to ask the questions, I didn't know how to use the forum tools, I didn't know which questions were good questions, I was worried about getting bashed by some senior members, and I became discouraged. Feel free to ask any questions in here. You will not get flamed for asking any legitimate question. I won't hold your hand.. If you have a question that is all over the Internet, I'll point you in the right direction and tell you how I found that information.
YOU KNOW YOU'RE A NOOB IF..
- You are new to rooting
- You are new to flashing roms
- New to adb, fast boot, drivers, bootloaders
- You don't understand the terminology
- You don't know the difference between a rom and a kernel
- You don't know how to use XDA forums
- You can't explain what rooting is and what it does
- Many more..you get the point

Perfect post hi guys quick silly noob question does the carrier logo or txt appear on the upper left hand corner of the screen kinda like the iphone is there a way to enable that feature? Thanx

I know that it can be done, but do not know how to do it. I will look into it

He will make custom pull downs for $5...Or, you can just wait until someone has the same request =)

because most n00bz have the same question! and other people don't want to see it posted 1000s of times plus it waste space on the servers.

I think he meant that this thread should have gone in the Q&A section and not the general one...
Anyhow, good move! Hope the noobs come in for guidance. I too had many doubts and was discourage at some point from asking questions, now I try to help as much as I can

First off... this is Sprint GS3 thread/forum
But I'm a nice guy, here you go, its the thread for the VZW GN root tool kit. Read through the initial post and a few pages from the end before even using it, to make sure of what it does and how and also if there are any bugs in the latest version.

Best bet is to go to the forum for that device and look in development section. Should be all the info you need in a sticky.

#1 This thread has zero development in it. I would like it to be in the development section. I have a strong feeling that it would be moved quicker than I can type the 1st post. If you can help get it moved, more power to you

Im Confused, are you half noob urself or part of the joke? This does not belong anywhere near development. I was implying that most n00bs post they're questions there

[Q] Advanced developer section

I see a new section for advance developers and have a terrible urge to ask simple questions in that section. How can I effectively resist the urge to upset developers and moderators alike?

-Where do you see this 'advanced developer' section?
-Why do you feel like you absolutely need to post something in it?

It's a new subsection under SGS3. And I don't actually feel that, I was just making a funny.

Keep questions in 1) Q & A, or 2)Thread for Rom/Kernel for which you have a question on.
Secondly, Kenny will come to your house and flog you with a wet noodle for questions in there.

I can't see it from my XDA app. Maybe I could from a PC, but I use my laptop less & less the more I find out what this phone is capable of doing.

No because that would be breaking the first and second rule. And tyler durden wont like that

I wish the mobile app would add new sections on its own without having to unsubscribe and subscribe again to see them.

Stock theme on Nexus Evolution?

Hello all, I've posted this on the Nexus Evolution thread, but haven't gotten any response. I am wondering if there is a way to install the stock Android 4.2.1 theme onto the Nexus Evolution Rom. I love the rom, but loathe the theme that it is built upon. Is there any way to do this? I tried flashing to one stock theme that I found, but I think it was from 4.1.2 it bootlooped. ANY help would be awesome.
Also, if this isn't possible, can anybody recommend a theme that is close to stock?

sorry for the noob question but how can i flash the downloads from Goomanager.. im new from android device and my first android is the amazing nexus 7 cellular... please help me and answer my question.. thanks!

Open GooManager, Browse compatible ROM > Choose and download suitable roms then sselect Flash ROMs > Add zip from another location > select your Goomanager folder > Select your downloaded rom > Order & Flash selected

LOL, okay for one don't get pissy around here, especially to someone that has far more experience with the site than you do.. That's very frowned upon at xda. Yes you are a noob, and in the video it said do not click the new thread button unless what you are asking cannot be found in a thread that already exists, and if the thread doesn't directly answer your question, don't make a new thread. Ask the damn question in a thread that already exists or pm a member that looks like they know what they are doing. But do NOT make a new thread unless it is absolutely necessary. You have no idea how many threads like this are being made that do not need to be made. We are getting sick of them. All it takes is a few minutes of looking around. Hell whenever you named this thread when you first created it the search system showed you similar threads that have already been made.
Use the search system.
Look around.
Don't click the new thread button unless you are 100% sure that there are no threads that answer your question.
EDIT : Also, DO NOT make stupid threads, like how do I use XXX's toolkit or something like that. The xda community will not spoon feed noobs. You guys have to learn like we did. Trial and error. Trust me. Once you learn how to use things without having to ask questions you will feel better.
