I am currently running wanam's 1.1 version of his stock-based ROM. Been running it for 2 days and has felt much smoother and battery friendly than stock! ATT and Samsung apps are flashable later through CWM which like. LOVE this ROM. Only known issue that I have seen is the 1080p recording for the camera. It does record in 720p though. Thanks!

The only reason I ever want to flash my phone is to get aosp. So I say cm10 and aokp are the best. Don't really see a point in flashing stock based roms.

I ran CM !0 for a few days but I used a Mac and MTP doesn't work so its a bit of a deal breaker for me, but in all fairness its Extremely stable to be an Alpha build. My first android phone was the G1 and then on to the Nexus One so i'm a sucker for AOSP based android roms and for Cyanogen Mod in general so ill be running it when the MTP gets sorted out on my Mac.
I tried Wanams rom, I remember him from my SGS2, Hes a great Dev & its really stable as well.
The best all around so far for me is AndroidUser00110001's Rom linked below. I've found the wifi disconnect problem that i was having with the other TW Roms is gone and it has had the best over all balance of performance and stability.

When it comes to battery life there literally is none better, he did a fantastic job with his ROM. It takes a performance hit at times but its to be expected.
Overall, AOKP has everything I want, sans killer battery life

I have looked at it, and the one I have installed on my phone even has the Aurora designation I intend to use if I publicly release a rom for this phone, so we will see.
Also, son of a *****, godaddy didn't auto-renew my domain. Guess I will need a new one.
A buddy of mine just got the S3 and isn't into the touchwiz and nature theme. He just got the phone yesterday so I've been looking for the best custom rom with everything working. Any suggestions? I know it's early in the game and I might be asking too much. I've been searching and haven't been able to find much. Thank you for any suggestions.

I used Aura on my Atrix for the longest time. I like the stability of kyan's ROM. I just know the layout and I like the dandelion/water unlock screen LOL. I liked CM10 and had no issues. I plan on trying AOKP tonight. I like the drop down 15 toggles mainly because they are quick to get to and turn on and off like torch and brightness modes.

Definitely AOKP. Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean versions are awesome. I've yet to find any bugs that keep it from being a daily driver. In fact I've found none. But I haven't used it that in depth much, we shall see.
But I put my vote in for AOKP. By far the best, and I only flash for AOSP based ROMs anyways. :good:
AOKP JellyBean and ktoonsez JB kernel. Those guys rock. Never seen a preview work so well, looking to see what's to come.

Right now I'm on miui trying it out for the first time getting used to no app drawer. Favorite ROM for a daily (if I had one lols) would have to be Living Rejects. I flash it at least twice a week. Its pretty much my goto when I need a good solid dependable ROM for GPS and coverage while traveling. The battery life is effin amazing and music come out really loud and clear. But I will say once our beloved devs get cm10/AOKP/PA etc running solid for jb I will prolly be going back to PA or try out KK again. I love the UK customization options. I ran ICS aokp as a daily until jb started seeping its way into my veins now I'm flashing like there's no tomorrow can't wait for volume bug fix ^^

Had to clear that up.
I'm just interested in knowing what ROMs you guys are running, and why.
I'm not rooted yet (plan on doing that tomorrow)
but I'm looking for the most stable ROM with the best battery life.
With all of these threads and links, it's hard to keep up.

I have no intentions of this thread turning into a "this ROM is better than X ROM because of Y Reason."

If you get over the broken boot up imiage its the best I have used (not that I tried them all) I get like 20percent drain from a entire day of use
I am running ParanoidKANGdroid right now, going on closer to a week on it. I have tried CM10.1 nightlies and the newest AOKP, as well as task650's AOKP, but my favorite so far is this one. Im using Paranoidandroid, i felt like kangdroid was too bulky with too much extra stuff i didn't need/want. I like paranoid cause it seems pretty simple and smooth. But i have had some issues with random restarts, camera messing up, gallary messing up, and some other things i cant remember right now. I rooted for the first time like a week or so ago and i really like it. I just want more stability, best that i've used but im not satisfied. Plus the rom hasn't been touched since 11/21/12 so it could probably use some upgrades.
Anything is better than ATT stock JB, which sometimes drained in 20hrs.
Right now what im looking for though is a stock rom that has been stripped and streamlined. I have two things i need my phone for, Ustream/Livestream and taking pictures/video. Anything that is gonna crash unexpectedly or slow down because of so much extra junk is useless to me.

+1 I've researched almost all of the roms for our phone and i found that jellybam suits my needs. Plus i find that the mixture of ParanoidAndroid, AOKP, and Cyanogenmod is cool and makes for a lot of customization and features. It's a good rom pretty stable not much bugs or anything. And i'm also getting good battery life. I think the boot image should be fixed soon. But as with any rom it's all up to personal preference.
Battery life and stability are the two things I look for in a rom. 4.2.1 ROMs are the way to go unless you need Bluetooth streaming. Everything else has been near perfectly stable. Liquid smooth, tasks aokp, illusion and slimbean take your pick.

I am on Task650's 12/23/12 build because I use Bluetooth media streaming (mostly Audible) extensively throughout the day, in my car. The newest version of Task's ROM is nice and solid, but I can't live without BT audio.

I enjoy touchwiz features too. They're not something I use everyday but I prefer being on 4.2. So many speed and battery life improvements.
Keep in mind you can usually find an app to replace touchwiz features. Like smart statusbar will allow you to show the status bar when in full screen mode.

I personally had a lot of sync issues with Carbon. I switched to Liquid the other day and have really enjoyed it. I did not try the release yesterday by Carbon.
To be 100% honest, though, Team Carbon are former members of Team Liquid and the ROMs are near identical. If you try them both, it's basically the exact same layout and everything except it says " Carbon Controls" in the menu instead of " Liquid Controls".
Try then both though. It's the wonderful fallback of a Nandroid

I actually switched about 20 minutes ago to carbon just to give it a whirl and see what is different. Aside from liquid using nova launcher, there really isn't a noticeable difference.

I flashed both the latest versions and there are some differences. Carbon doesn't have DPI options whole LS does. LS does have the option to decrease the size of the quick tiles. There are other minor differences as well such as placement of options within the settings menu. Under the hood, I think I read LS sticks more to CM10 coding.
In terms of performance, I can not tell the difference. Both are extremely fast. Both are extremely lightweight. You really can't go wrong with either.
What I think I'm going to do is go back and forth. I'll run the latest release of each rom and wait until who ever releases first. The devs of these rooms are unbelievably talented. Don't stick to just one rom. Go back and forth and support these devs.
I'm running LS at the moment and who ever pumps out the next build, I'm going to flash it. Really can't go wrong with either. My reason for using LS at the moment is because the DPI feature. I like having chrome and Gmail in tablet mode. But I'm sure carbon will put this feature in the next build or so. In my opinion, these are the best roms out there for the GS3. Really 1A and 1B.

I ran the liquid smooth RC... 9 I think it was? it was on 4.1.2 but never gave their 4.2.2 ROM a try before it went RC, but I had a lot of little issues with it being buggy and they just started to get to me. I eventually swapped back to cm 10 because it was more stable for my own personal experiences with it.
As for carbon, I didn't flash the first release because I wanted to watch the boards and see what issues people were having with it, but I've been on carbon since 1.1 and I really like it. It doesn't seem quite as buggy as liquid smooth did. The only exception I have to that, is the most recent release (1.4) was consistently giving me issues with regards to display timeout. It would timeout after 15 seconds (I like a short timeout) and the screen would go black, without the CRT off animation, and then it would just freeze with a faint horizontal line through the middle and the hardware buttons would still be illuminated. I could not unlock the screen or get it to turn back on, and had to pull the battery out and reboot my phone every time. I tried reflashing several times, and I continue to get the same issue so I flashed back to 1.3. No issues on this version, it runs solid.
Now i'm a new Samsung Galaxy S III user, just switched from an iPhone 4S on 2/19/13 and currently very happy and loving it more than the iPhone!
Anyway, I got a friend with a Galaxy S III and he suggest I should flash LiquidSmooth ROM, I did and I like it but i'm looking for something a bit more......bug free. Anyone got any suggestions? Pros and Cons to ROMs?
I heard that ParanoidAndroid is good but not sure, feedback?
Thanks!
Welcome to android!
Before a mod shuts this down because these types of threads don't get to stay I will tell your best bet is to read, read some more and then try some out. There a lot of great roms but your the only one who will know if its right for you.
Good luck

I suggest a stock type ROM. Head over to the android development thread and try a few out. These keep stock feel but little tweaks here and there. SGS3 is quite easy to root and fix mistakes. Root, flash a recovery and explore some ROMs.

Its definitely a matter of personal preference, but my opinion is task 650 AOKP. By itself its a best but coupled with ktoonz kernel you'll be showing it off. As already stated the best thing you can do is read everything not just about a ROM but also kernels and general works, hate to see devs leave because people don't read everything before questioning them to death. Good luck and Happy flashing

I hear good things about liquid, are you on stock kernel? On AOKP w ktoonz I'm getting about 30 hrs w 4 hrs screen on time, I've got mine uc to 1404 and UV -75 across seems pretty stable, I Dont play intensive games or anything but haven't had any problems with the normal stuff

What he said! I've tried many different ROM's, TW and aosp, but I always end up back on Task's AOKP!

Hey guys.. so glad this thread is open! Did hours of reading and said eff it...I'm signing up haha
Ive been a proud gs3 ower for a while now and have tried everything from CM, Liquidsmooth, AOKP, and many others. However, I have yet to find a rom with a good battery life. Is it true that there isn't really such thing?
I'm currently running the Liquid-JB-v2.1 . Seems to be running ok with only minor bugs.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

Battery life is weaker because those are the all aosp/aokp based on early stage 4.2 roms. Try a touchwiz rom until those get ironed out. I recommend intergalactic or dandroid or loserrom.

I've been running vanilla root box 3.6 and love it. Everything works for me. No issues. Great. Battery life for what its worth

task gives plenty of help if you either a) post in the q&a forum with problems or b) post your bugs after full wipe with the appropriate logcats and last_kmsg. Its not his fault if most people are ignorant and don't read the OP. His ROM is one of the most stable I've been on.

If you want to stay on Touchwiz, then DarthStalker (4.1.1)...otherwise Task650 (4.2.2).

no one care about you *hide*
best way to know is you yourself try out the roms that you see fit(read their changelog, features and try them out yourself)
Opinions are for those social websites....XDA is a Development Site!
Enough of this thread, and since it has crashed and burned, THREAD HARD CLOSED!
