hi, I have installed JT R30 by RB on my DHD but 3G is not working. checked the APN setting, but no luck. do I need to install any Radio for 3G to work? right now its 12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M. plz help. it did not work with ICS by blackout. :crying:
Whether ur phone is Desire HD or inspire 4g and are u from india. If inspire 4g, then 3g won't work in India as the inspire uses different network bandwidth than present in India.

hey OP, welcome to the forums.
I would change your username as it is your googlemail account and can be used for malicious purposes.
Secondly I don;'t believe that the IG4 works in India
Third, have you tried a different ROM or a full wipe?
Inspire 4G works like a charm in India including 3G. I have used it. Please mention your carrier. Many 3G carriers are providing connectivity problems in India right now.

Airtel does not have its own 3G footprint in Gujarat, it connects to !dea cellular 3G when a subscriber attempts a connection. Try a different 3G SIM of Gujarat like !dea or Tata Docomo.

There is difference in Network
HTC Inspire 4G
HSPA+ 850/1900MHz
GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
HTC Desire HD
Europe:
•HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz
•GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
Asia Pacific:
•HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz
•GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
So if you have Inspire 4g then you will not get 3g network in India.

Desire HD has a baseband that 1 of the frequency for 3G(WCDMA) is 2100MHz. I believe that is 1 of the 3G frequency that T-Mobile US uses. So if u r in a state in US that the T-Mobile base station outputs 2100MHz as their 3G frequency, u should be good.

I have a 4G 5gb data subscription with AT&T here in New York State, and I am in a city upstate with HSPA+ coverage as witnessed by other phones in my office, but my phone will only connect to HSPA.
Is this possibly in relation to outdated radio software?
The Desire HD doesn't have 4G/HSPA+. There's a version of the DHD for the US called 'Inspire 4G'. That's has HSPA+. I'm guessing you're being charged quite a bit for 4G, so better cancel your 4G data subscription and get a cheaper 3G data plan. 3G is the max the DHD can do because it doesn't have the radio hardware to access 4G.

Hi all,
I recently bought a new Desire HD from E-bay. Its an Unlocked AT&T phone, I'm in India and I'm right now using Tata Docomo. I couldn't able to use 3G, (2G sucks).
I searched internet and forum and found that I can enable it by "Menu - Settings - Wireless And Networks - Mobile Networks - Set Preferred Mode to WCDMA or GSM/WCDMA auto" But the problem is, There is no menu called "set preferred mode" in my phone. I tried changing all the mode in *#*#4636#*#* even after that I'm not getting 3G. My mobile is not rooted and Its using 2.3.3 Android.
Hope someone help me.
Regards,
Praveen
Unable to connect to 3G
I'm also facing the issue with 3G connection.
I checked my sim card with other mobiles with the same apn settings. It works well in other mobiles.
But in my HTC-DHD still 3G is not able to connect.
My version is 2.3.3.
I also tried updating to "Andriod Revolution DHD 7.1 ROM" also. Still the same 3G issue persist.
My mobile model shows as "A9191" which is compatible in India 3G.
Can anybody help me for identifying the problem?
Hi
Inspire 4g i.e. ATT works on different network band for 3g which is not same as the 3g network band in india. Hence you will not be able to use 3g with your handset on any of mobile providers in india.

That's correct. The Inspire 4G supports 850 Mhz and 1900 Mhz 3G bands, while all the network providers in India use 2100 Mhz.
AT&T Desire HD = Inspire 4G

Thanks. I was planning to get an old Inspire 4G from my friend in the US, but it doesn't seem it would be any useful now (as I am a heavy user of 3G).
however, would it be possible if I root the ROM?

Rooting will not change the network band on your mobile. I am using inspire 4g rooted but i dont get 3g on Idea so better go for some other phone which supports 3g on 2100MHz band

The frequency band support of a phone depends on it's radio, and is hard-coded into it. Radio firmware can be changed, but the radio itself is not compatible. That's the problem. So even if you root the phone (which by itself does nothing other than grant you superuser access), unlock the bootloader and flash a different radio, it still won't work. Don't get the Inspire 4G. Even on eBay, it's low price may be tempting to many, but it's not worth it if it only supports 2G.

Read the above regarding radio. The ROM might show your phone as Desire HD A9191 in Settings->About, but the phone is actually Inspire 4G. If you got it from the US, and it has AT&T on the back, then it is Inspire 4G. There is no Desire HD for the US.

I just checked it as you suggested, I could not find AT&T logo.

I bought this phone from EBay. So I'm not sure whether its from US.
The "Settings->About" says "Desire HD A9191" & also I could not find any AT&T logo on it.
So I guess now I've Desire HD only
Do we have any other way to find confirm its "A9191" ?
BTW I flashed the recommended Radio today (Recommended for the Android Revolution DHD 7.1 ROM), but no luck. Still no 3G on my phone

Hello Guys,
I know there is some difference between 3G and H+, but i always gets 3G, never saw H or H+ on my DHD, is there any way to get H+ on DHD..? i am using Codefire X 4.2.1 (SR4)
What network are you on and what radio version? I get H with Tata DoCoMo, Airtel and Vodafone. H+ isn't provided by Indian networks yet. As long as you're getting download speeds between 300-700 kB/s (2.4-5.6 Mbps) during non-peak hours, you're good. Doesn't go above that. 700 is the max I've ever seen on an Indian network, and that was with DoCoMo.

Currently i am using Idea and my Radio version is 26.17.14.11_M, During peek hours i gets speed between 1-1.5 mbps and during non peek hours it goes upto 2.5 mbps. I guess H+ depends upon the network operator only.
By the way which Radio are you using ? because my current Radio gives me some problem with network strength, there are frequent drop outs also in the network signals
I am also getting frequent drop out in network signal...
But I am getting drop out at my home where I get H ....
At my working place I get E but there's no such frequent drop out in signal.....

Even if you have 4G, you would still be limited to like 7Mbps max,
unless you are using sim from your ISP 4G modem or your operator is one of a few offering speeds similiar to home network, I doubt it is...
I have a good 4G ISP at home with excellent rssi, and I max out at ~12Mbps (~1.2mB/s) with my PC.
PS. DHD does not support 4G, I wrote that just to give a concept of a whole idea...
