So I have an interesting problem. I have used cm10 stable and nightly and PAC to make phone calls. For some reason though when I make phone calls every now and then the other party cannot hear me and I cannot hear them. Rebooting does not solve this and the only way I can get calling to work again is to flash a new rom. I flashed the newest radio. Has this happend to anyone else or is this a hardware issue

I recently rooted my Galaxy Nexus and installed Jelly Bean on it. First the phone would drag and I rebooted it then I installed another version of 4.1 and now I can only use it for calls using the headset, Bluetooth, and speaker. When I try to use the headset for calls I cannot hear the caller nor can the caller hear me. Anyone else have this problem and if so, how did you fix it
This exact problem started happening to me as of this morning. Nothing else was changed on the phone. I wiped and re-flashed Vicious-toro, and still present.
Be sure to be using latest JRO03C/JRO03H bootloader/radio.
My parents have been complaining about call quality. Basically they cannot understand what I'm saying most or the time.
I'm running the jb nightly
Any suggestions to fix it or any or you experiencing the same problem

I think I might be possibly having the same issue. I get complaints about call quality randomly. It's only some calls some of the time. Usually the person on the other end complains about an echo. if I hang up and call back it usually resolves it.
Is your problem intermittent or all the time?
Edit: Running stock ICS 4.0.3.
I know it. Skype quality is very fine. But the normal calls are a so bad. Open the call window -> go in the option menu and de/activate the (i dont know the word in english) "Noise suppression". Test both. After the change it should working correctly.
You can check your microphone. Do a test call with skype or some other internet call app.

Noise suppression works well on the latest CM 9.1 and AOKP builds and ICS 4.0.4 from my experience. Everything else, I can't really vouch for.

Options:
1. try different modems
2. try different kernels
3. make sure noise suppression is checked off
4. try different phone.apks
Now here is something that some dont realize but next time you are on a call and use call waiting, when you come back to the person on the original call ask if your call quality has changed. It is an issue if you go from one call to another in AOSP based roms it seems to re-create the underwater muffled sound. If you dont have this happen to you then you are lucky but I have tried this on a few of my friends phone with the same result
Edit: OP ya gotta search next time this has to be the number 1 or 2 asked question in here
I was plagued with these problems as well. No matter what rom or setup I had it never got better. Got a warranty replacement and problem solved. Hopefully it's not that but a brand spanking new device is always cool either way.

Hey guys I'm currently running liquid smooth rc7 and the uvli radio and the people I am talking to on the phone are saying that the call quality isn't sounding very good. Can someone help me out?

Click the phone icon then menu setting and noise suppress try that I have the same problem and have not tried other radios yet but it may help. Idk if it has mine don't make many calls I'll know next time I call someone when I have to yell at them for them to hear me Lol. But try that
I had the same issue on this ROM too. In fact, all JB ROMs have this problem. I went back to ICS.
Anyone using Viber for calls? I can not find any JB rom for t989 with working Viber. Viber starts, I can make call, but no one can hear me, and I can not hear anyone. In fact, there is few JB roms with working Viber calls, but after I use Viber for calling, I have to reboot phone if I want to hear anything in normal phone call.
This is frustrating...
No audio heard or sent on Viber Calls

I am having the same problem since I flashed paranoid ROM 3.99. I even updated to 3.99-1 RC1 yesterday but problem persists.
Skype is working fine though.
I hope we get some answers
I just installed (2 days ago) Halo-slim 4.3 build 1 and used Viber for 45 minutes, no problems. Earlier I had infamous S3 for a month with no problem with Viber.
Still No Luck
I flashed Slim ROM 4.3 official version for my phone SGH-T989. The problem still persists.
When I call someone on Viber, sometimes call won't get through. Most of the times, call gets connected, I hear other person's voice for a fraction of a second and then it gets completely silent. he can't hear me, I can't hear him.
Don't know what's wrong. This is 3rd ROM I have tried. Is it my phone?
should I flash stock ROM ? where would I get one?
Have you tried stock 4.1.2? It's jellybean....
So I'm having an issue with my T-Mobile M8 regarding the microphone and muting during calls. It doesn't mute the mic during phone calls but then if I put the phone on speaker phone the other person can't hear me anymore. The issue started once I flashed AOSP ROMs I've tried 3 different ones and its present on all of them. Anyone know of a fix or what the issue is? I tried third party dialers and that didn't work either.

Known issue with aosp. Only fix thus far is to flash back to sense.
I had this issue too but then I went ahead and did the gpe conversion. I'm no longer having that problem. But now if I put the phone to my right ear the volume drops drastically. Can't win em all I guess.
