if you flashed a custom rom and then you did factory reset, then you are still on stock rom, factory reset deletes the data. So you probably just have a wrong kernel

You should use a kernel for cm9, hellboy or KISS-Kernel, look at the threads for the versions for cm9 :good:

I use boot-HELLBOY-CM9-201212251747.img but nothing change :S

You should use the cm9 kernel in the zip you downloaded. If that kernel doesnt boot, then try SuperSick Kernel.

[Q] kernel upgrade

hi, im currently in leedroid's v2.0 rom and v2.0.2 kernel. i want to download and install the newer kernel. how do i do it? do i install the zip in recovery mode? need help again guys =) thank you so much =)
Just download it, put it to your SD, go to recovery and "select install zip from SD card". Then you can select the kernel, and when it finishes, reboot system.
wont i have bootloops? cause i read some people are getting boot loops when flashing kernel in recovery
That is of course one possibility. You just have to take the risk, my Kernel Update Utility does not support LeeDroid kernels yet. You can fix the bootloop by flashing your ROM again.
An easier way would be to do a nandroid, if it goes wrong, just use the advanced restore, to restore /system. But i have been flashing kernels from recovery since i got my hero and have never had any issues......

Hi folks!
I have n answer about updating kernels..
I'm on CM7 actually and I have flashed a modded kernel, if I go with an update of CM7 does this overwrite the custom kernel and I have to flash it again?
Sorry for bad english.
thanks guys, i finally flashed the kernel (taking the risk cause i forgot to do a nandroid) luckily i did it with success. thanks for people who answered my question. more power to you guys

if you flash a new rom, you will get whatever kernel comes with the rom, so yes maybe you will

If i do "factort reset" from boot loader, what will happen?

will it bring back my STOCK rom?

No, it will only delete the data on your sdcard. Youll be stuck on the same ROM that ypu are currently on

for return back to stock you have to flash stock ruu, maybe you have to relock bootloader first, i'm not sure
Flash stock rom first... Restore stock recovery... then RUU....Relock bootloader
HOS and HOX are so much alike this is how it works on most HTC phones but... doesn't your dev forum have a tutorial?

thats actually incorrect, it wipes the internal memory, not the "external" 28gb so all your files will be fine

kernel install problems

i am currently using the tuchimi rom. link http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1766999.
it already uses version 007 of of fauxs kernel. i am trying to update to version 013, http://rootzwiki.com/topic/29718-d2t...omsv013dec-02/. i wiped the cache and the dalvik first,my phone is stuck on the starting applications screen it took it 8 hours to to boot into the phone and then it was still laggy for an hour after being booted up. after that hour of being booted up i rebooted it as he says and it started taking awhile on the starting app screen again. it says on the developers page for the kernel that it will work on all stock based roms and i realize it says tmobile but the devolper says "ATT and Tmoible SGS3 uses a UNIFIED KERNEL to reduce duplication" . you will see that last bit if you click on the kernel link on the development page for the rom. please and thankyou for any help.

[Q] Cant Flash Jelly Bean ROMS anymore [SOLVED]

hi..i have been trying out different ROMS and have been successfull at doing it.
when i first rooted my phone i flashed PACman v15, used it for a while and then kept flashing different ROMs
I then flashed [ROM-PrimoU|GSM] [18.3.13] myONEv RC9.5 FX+ (Sense 4.1 Lite), which also booted correctly..
i then decided to flash another jelly bean ROM. however none of the ROMs available are able to boot.
I also flashed the appropriate kernel, wiped everything, nothing works.. kept getting boot loops.
so nw m back to [ROM-PrimoU|GSM] [18.3.13] myONEv RC9.5 FX+ (Sense 4.1 Lite) this ROM.
could anyboody tell me what i could be doing wrong?
tell the procedure how you switch to other rom ?

1) took backup in twrp
2) wiped everything
3) flashed ROM in sd card
(step 3 and 4 were also interchanged cause i read somewhere, looking for solutions to this, that u need to flash kernel first then ROM )
4) rebooted into bootloader -flashed appropriate kernel
5) reboot system.
6) bootloop occured!

and it was a success..

I don't know if it will create any problem or not. But i had once issue like that.
I installed PimpMyRom and did some tweaks. After that i rebooted my phone and at that time my device gets soft bricked.
So i just thought it might be that issue.
Just try reflashing rescue package if u have downloaded it.
And if you are sure that u have not done any tweaks then its ok.
But the thing is that you are having a strange problem, so its worth a try.

well for 4.2.2 roms u need a 4.2.2 kernel
and Paranoid Android 4.2.2 is not stable(doesnt boot even with kernel)
so if u want a working phone, flash A sense ROM since you're already on Titanium KISS kernel
and for jelly bean, u can try Shpongle
but remember to flash the correct kernel

Thanks for replying
Can you please elaborate on sense ROM
and where to find it..
I think I will have to remove the SD card and use another phone to transfer zip file to it.. ( I don't have Card reader)
Can you also point aout why system restore isn't working??
Sorry for all the question
but really panicky at the moment
Phone unresponsive for 3 hrs....
+1 and read carefully ROMs and kernels threads... or at least OPs... and edit your post next time instead of writing next posts!
Edited:
You have to find Sense ROM by yourself!!! We are not your moms to take you by the hand and tell you everything, that you should do!!!
