You should give credit to mikeyxda. Awesome dev who made it possible for a lot of people to use google now when jellybean was scarce. Keep in mind that it won't update since we are on ics.

Yes I have been running this for a long time it is so cool. However the version have sometimes does not open up links. Does this version have that bug?

I am having no bugs it word equally as well as my Nexus 7

Yeah I got mines from xsmagical but he said he would update it and yet no changes yet. So the question is if this Google Now is updated and what version exactly? Any thoughts neemot?

This version is not the updated version, and says there is a new version in the Google Play store. It still has the same old bug like not being able to add a favorite sports team.

Like I said a few posts up it isn't configured for ics devices. This one was made usable by mikeyxda.... The moment we have jelly bean it'll function properly but this is better than nothing.

You know we already have google now right? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2065379 Been using it in test builds of my rom for over a week now.

Like I said guys not taking credit just reposting for those who didn't know we had it I have been running it but this is the best I have found and wanted to share.
Thanks to the devs for all of their hard work

So is this and the one in the apps and themes section essentially the same thing? Or does one work better than the other?

I think this is the best one I have used I have no issues everything works except for the update which is obvious.

Everything else is in:

What to do?
init.rc needs some additions for wimax, we should add a define like IS_CDMA_PHONE in BoardConfig.mk and then in c1-common we're able to copy init.cdma.rc -> init.rc if IS_CDMA_PHONE.

According to the alpha release:
With that said, a list of things that DO work ::
* Radio almost works fully - Calling, SMS, and Data are working.
* Bluetooth works for music. (A2DP)
* Wifi works fully.
* 3D Graphics Acceleration
* Video codecs mostly working, some stuttering with HD content.
* Screen on/off animation.
* Sensors work, but may be slow. Run /system/bin/sensorcalibutil_yamaha in terminal or via adb, place the phone on a flat surface, and hit Enter. Reboot the phone and sensors will function at normal speed.
What does NOT work ::
* GPS
* Camera
* Multimedia Messaging
* Bluetooth In-Call (Hands-Free Profile)
* WiMax 4G (This is absolute LAST priority, DON'T ASK ABOUT IT)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=992318
I had Cyanogen on my Epic 4G for a little while, just for ****s & giggles. It was lovely, except for the above (obviously).
The keyboard worked fine, by the way...
OP: Be patient....It'll come. Be thankful that the CM team is working on our device.

Epic or Epic Touch?

I miss my Galaxy Nexus :(

So I had the Verizon Galaxy Nexus running Jelly Bean and today I sold my nexus and bought the SIII. I never realized how much software matters over hardware! Sure the SIII has more ram and a slightly better camera but I will tell you while I miss my nexus!!!!!
1. Stock OS - I hate the fact why on my SIII I cant organize my apps into other app folders. I feel like I am running android 2.4 and not 4.04!
2. Jelly Bean- I love project butter (even though the Siii is still smooth) and I way prefer googles voice assistant alot more
3. Build- I think I am one of the few that prefer the the size and material of the nexus. Even though the nexus is close in size, I still feel the
S3 is just too big. Not to mention I prefer the rubberized feel on the nexus.
4. On screen menu keys. Just have not got used to the S3 and dont know if I ever will.
5. Ability to swap roms. Being that verizon has a locked bootloader on the S3 and there are no working Jelly bean roms, I feel by the time
Verizon upgrades to Jelly Bean I will be counting down the days till the Galaxy Nexus 4 comes out!!!!
*****Thinking about selling my S3, but dont want to waste an upgrade on a new phone so just may give it to family and buy my nexus back***
Bottom line.... I miss my nexus
That's why I did not buy it

If its not in the Verizon GS3 section then no. And it will be a while until CM9 fully works in that phone... which is why I love my gnex.

Same boat had the s3 for about 3 days and decided to go to the nexus the battery sucks on this phone but with the gs3 I felt lime it was a broken phone waiting to happen.. gnex feel a lot more solid and feels smooth software wise...

Unfortunately cyanogen mod in other phones will always have quirky bugs due to Samsung proprietary blobs..
I had the s2 since 2 weeks ago with cm9 and it still had lingering issues (wacky compass which affected gps, no tvout, volume not returning to normal after notifications with headset)

Glad I was able to choose my Nexus over the siii. I'm glad I didn't have to make the mistake before hand. Google FTW!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
even though you can slap a cyanogen onto a non-nexus device, it will took longer than on nexus. On Nexus, Google update new version, the longest you have to wait is one week before a build is surfacing. But nowadays our dev are super so it only took few hours lolz, and with pretty much everything working most importantly.
With non-nexus, NO~~ it took ages to wait for this driver, that source code wtf wtf bla bla bla~~ I've been there with SGS2 and One X, regretted my choice. and you cant enjoy the true feeling of AOSP too. you'll notice you need TW or Sense for a better hardware experience like the camera, etc etc.
oh as asdfasd2 said, yes i agree. Samsung does sucks with their source codes. CM was long enough on SGS2 and still, after they release the codes, devs are having headaches fixing what were supposed to be fixed. Luckily Nexus S and Gnexus are handled by Google, not them.
i must confess i was feeling a little tempted myself but ever since the nexus 7 release i cant take the damn table off my mind just waiting a couple of weeks to see if a nexus 10 is gonna be release but i cant wait a lo more

To be fair, devices in stores for demonstration are laggy for the most part. The Galaxy Nexus as well, it's not a proper way of "demoing" the phone.
It depends on what model you actually have. If its the quad s3(international i9300) you made a worst decision of your life and to sum it all up Almost all the famous devs are there.

Happy with my GNexus. Played with an S3 and didn't like the feel, or the physical buttons. Plus you can't beat stock ROM even if there are ways to get AOSP on the S3 it's not the same.

Same experience here. Thoroughly tested the S3 already and the GNex definitely feels smoother and gives an overall beter user experience.
And as said before not everyone who buys an android smartphone can be assed rooting their phone, flashing roms, backupping everytime. It's very nice that it's possible to do with android but it should not be an obligation whilst buying a smartphone.. It should work perfect out of the box, and that's exactly what the GNex does and any other android phone manufacturer fails to do.

Other than the obvious issues (WiFi and screen rotation) this is surprisingly smooth for how large the ROM is. Loving it so far. 4g works just fine by the way. Can't say about battery yet I flashed at 50% while waiting for the bus I'm at like 30% now but I'm redownloading tons of crap over 4g and its been a couple hours. Will keep an eye on it

I'm gonna focus on the screen rotation issue tonight on all ROMs... I'm really confused as to what it can be...

Thanks, I have been anxiously awaiting a RemICS-JB build for the Nexus S 4G. It was my favorite build in ICS.
Any idea when the wi-fi problem might be looked at? Need any testers?
Thanks again,
Richard
Would love to try when Wi-FI gets to working.
DAMN Evol, you're a beast!! You got ROMs I didn't even know you had!!
Congrats bro!!
No luck yet?

VZW Galaxy Nexus Xperia Z Rom (Teaser + Other)

Hey guys, i recently started making a Xperia Z Rom for the VZW Galaxy Nexus Community. Its still a work in progress and it will be uploaded whenever i feel like its stable enough to be a daily rom. There are alot of things broken right now such as Camera and lots of FC's. This rom will be based of AOKP 4.1.2. I chose android 4.1.2. because i feel that it is the most stable and fastest android version out there right now (And the Xperia Lockscreen would only work with android 4.1). This is fully customized with lots of Xperia apps and things such as boot animation. Right now im working hard to release this soon (Just need to fix some things). This rom will be 450+ MB's in size, <<< Due to all the xperia apps and what not. Im trying to slim it down a bit before releasing it.
Some features
Gapps integrated
Sony Walkman
Sony Sound enhancer
Sony Bravia Engine
Xperia Z Lockscreen
Xperia Z Boot Animation
Xperia Home Screen
Xperia Apps.
Etc... (I dont want to give away to much
A Few Teasers

very excited. alien rom was by far the best rom ive ran on my gnex so i have faith this will be just as good!
Any thoughts for maguro ?
I could be wrong, I probably am, but the only difference between a maguro ROM and a toro ROM: the packaged radios and the build.prop?

Sounds close but radios aren't packaged in ROMs. I think you were referring to the ril files.

Yeah... But something makes a GSM Nexus' calls/SMS/3G work while that same ROM on a toro has nothing with the radio.

Yes, the radio interface layer is how the ROM communicates with the radio hardware. On a GSM, the radios are different so the ril would also need to be different to know how to make the communication between the hardware/software properly. Once the radio images are in place, its a done deal, just making sure the ril files are specific to the hardware version the ROM is for. May be more than this I haven't learned yet.
Edit: it appears there are binaries for additional hardware such as WiFi, Bluetooth, etc. that are also specific to GSM/CDMA variants. Not sure there is a difference or why there would be.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Pretty sure the WiFi and Bluetooth binaries are identical between GSM and CDMA variants, WiFi works on the CDMA port of Ubuntu Mobile and all that was changed was the build.prop so it would flash on a toro and toroplus.

That was my reasoning as well, but back to topic on hand, I think this ROM would be very interesting, too bad Alien isn't being developed any more, never tried it but it sounded really nice.

It wouldnt matter if the hardware drivers are different in each rom all i really have to do is test a few modifications to the rom and the rest just add a custom script with all the Xperia Addons. The same way AlienDroid flashed itself.
Most likely i can get a sprint version working almost immediatly. Is there anyone with the sprint model here? I need you to flash a zip on a specific rom. If that works then i can get the sprint version released roughly about the same time as the Verizon one. PM Me.
I can probably make a file that can be flashed on all 3 Gnexus and work properly. Im going to test it a bit.
Edit - Rom is uploaded and read to be downloaded. I will make a new thread tommorow in the VZW section with a download link. For now i need sleep.
Brother please make one for NExus 4 as well...looks fantastic...also..what is thatin the first screenshot? The flip-sort of thing?
