Hello. I have a french note 2 wich came ofcourse preinstalled with french firmware. However since I am dutch I want to flash the dutch phn firmware over it because I think my handwriting recognition is not working optimal because I write in dutch. When I should flash the phn firmware on my french phone, and keep everything stock, will I be still able to receive ota or kies firmware updates for the phn rom? Because orignally my device is french...

Just flashing the new firmware wouldn't do the job. You will have to make sure that you have the DUTCH CSC code.. I think its "PHN"..
You can confirm this by connecting your phone to Kies... If Kies says, it doesn't supports firmware upgrade, then your CSC doesn't matches. You may have to factory reset your handset..
Backup your data before doing any changes.

So if i flash the dutch PHN firmware from samfirmware and perform a factory reset my CSC will automaticaly be PHN? I was planning to do a factory rest anyway, because i will go from French 4.1.2 to dutch 4.1.1...
1-Download and install any FW you want from Sammobile.com with PC Odin.
2-In your phone dialpad enter: *#272*followed by your devices IMEI number and finish it with #.
3-Now you will see many CSC of countries.
4-choose the one you want and Save.
5-Now once you have pushed the Save Button there is no going back your phone will FACTORY RESET and you will lose all the Data on your phone so be careful.
Yes. It will do the job... Sometimes you may have to factory reset the device twice.. So once you factory reset it, connect it to kies and see what it says in Firmware upgrade section.. If it says it cannot support firmware upgrading, then factory reset your device again.. Normally by second reset, the CSC will be properly set to PHN.

ok thanks guys! i will try it now. There is no problem in reverting from 4.1.2 to 4.1.1 due to bootloader incompatibility?

I am sure i entered my imei nr correctly, even tried with an csc changer app to automaticaly do it for me.

didnt work out for me.. :/ i filled *#272*IMEI# but it didnt took me to a screen or something..
what i wanted to do is.. i was on 4.1.1 Lux (Belgium).. and flashed tru odin 4.1.2 Poland but i want the lux belgium CSC, is it that important?
Meaning your IMEI doesn't correspond with the selected CSC,may be you should have changed the CSC first and only then flashed the new ROM.

Hi,
so my local is UAE, when I went to download the firmwares (For removing the "modified" thing), I found two versions, LYS and XSG. both of them have a PDA number different than the other, so I didn't know what to get, then I checked my phone and found this:
Baseband version:
N7100XXDMF1
BUILD NUMBER:
JZO54K.N7100XXDME6
Then I checked the LYS and XSG and all of them end with DMC/DMB
Then I checked the United Kingdom BTU, and I found the same as LYS and XSG, with the addition of DME6 (my mobile). Which I found weird cuz I bought my phone from the UAE, and it was an international version.
What I wanna do is roll back to a previous update, run Triangle Away, reset my status to Official, then update again.
How come I have the UK's update (I updated IN THE UAE), if my phone is from the UAE? or does the Build number don't matter which country I'm in?
One more question, If I flash the ROM via Odin, what am I risking? (phone brick, app loosing, data loose...etc)
thanks

XSG is country code for UAE
Another way to move back to original stat
-Open kies - tool - firmware initialization - follow wizard
But this way you lose data.

If your device have BTU rom then you will get updates from btu only. Probably when you have purchased rom you may have btu version installed instead of UAE.
What you are getting by dialing *#1234#

if u don't have EFS backup u will end up with fake imei if u go back to DMC3 from MF1 so maybe the network wont work

Your device country code is written next to the serial number on the Retail Box.
I would suggest that you stick to the rom which belongs to your country code to avoid any problem that may be caused by loosing your EFS data.
If your are not under warranty, it does not matter which country code you are using any way.

First, on the Box I found samsung.com/fr , which means the Mobile is French. So I went to sammobile, searched France (XEF) and found the CSC and PDA, and when I run in my phone *#1234#, I get the CSC and PDA which are the exact same as the French XEF 4.1.2 update.
So that means my phone is french and I should install French Versions...Guess this is why I got the 4.1.2 update not available in the uae.
That i already said, if your device have other country rom, you can update from any place when installed country version have updates. Match all three,
Ap, cp and csc
Sammobile zip file have only pda and csc mentioned but when you extract it, tar file will have all three.
Just download. 1-2mb and explore it with unzip to find full name.

Try to flash with Odin exactly the same firmware you initially had.
Your IMEI should return then.
IMEI backup is about the very first thing to do before flashing any custom ROM

by flashing via kies. it will automatically detect your original firmware and what region by putting your serial no only.
i never try to flash other country. i only rooted my phone then using custom ROMs without a problem for network before then decided to go back to unrooted original Samsung firmware.
i think the original firmware is (deutsch) because in the start up setup deutsch language appear. then i set it to English (united states).
my problem now is the WiFi went back off & on. do you have any idea how to fix this permanently without using the code of *#1100#.
because last night i flash the Philippines firmware WiFi working perfectly smooth but no network problem! i think theirs a conflict with the region. if i can only decrypt the file then get the wifi settings. pls help...

Does the phone show the correct imei? Could the phone be blacklisted? Model in download mode is n7100? How did you update to 4.4.2?
Download and install MobileOdin, copy stock 4.3 on your device then install ROM from device.

I know nothing about IMEI,i update it with Odin.
If the phone does not have the correct imei #, it will not connect to a carrier network.
check your IMEI by typing in the dialing screen *#06# and see if its start at 0499 or its on Null/Invalid
i had a similar problem which i updated from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2
the IMEI was correct but it still was stuck on emergency call only
i found this modem file which helped me.
i tried flashing all kind of roms with this modem but it was pointless..
until i tried flashing that Omega v4.2.2 rom and then flashed the modem again
and it actually worked..no clue how did it work on the Omega and not for the others but oh well..
now im on CyanogenMod 5.1.1 and the phone is fully working.
If you planning on doing something like that (messing with your phone rom and such..) dont forget to make a FULL backup.

I had similar problem and worked fine..download 4.3 or 4.4.2 from Sammobile stock XEO Poland or XEF France ROM. They have modem we in Croatia use. Problem is not in ROM then in your modem or your device is locked on one carier but you have wrong different carier SIM.
Or just look here for modems then flash it with Odin but over computer. In ODIN check "nand erase all".
Of course you need to wipe everything ,flash ROM then flash modem separatly but it MUST BE XEO or XEF modem !
Hi, this is my first post. And im new on this teme of the Multi CSC roms.
I have a question, I get a ROM from SamMobile of my carrier Telcel in Mexico (TCE). I understand that the rom is multi csc, but when I flashed it all the bloatware (that in this case i need, VoLTE is only in my carrier) is from Claro (CHL), and I need it from Telcel. I sent a mail to SamMobile explaining this but they only answered me that the room its ok, the rom is multi CSC.
The CSC version that the system shows me is CHL/CHL/TCE, and I need TCE/TCE/TCE.
Anyone knows what I should do?
From my experience changing firmwares to enable volte, to fully restore csc it's flashing the firmware TCE, download from samfirm app on computer then factory reset from the firmware you have, flash TCE firmware with Odin and this it's the trick you need to have another carrier sim(no telcel) before flash the firmware TCE, wait for boot(don't put an account) when you are on the home screen turn off then enter recovery and factory reset and reboot, here when you swap the Sims, put the telcel sim on it and wait to fully boot and when you see the welcome screen you see a message that say the sim card it's different and need to reset, accept and wait for boot go to settings and check csc and now would be TCE\TCE\TCE

In my quest for fully change the csc without flash twrp and root to lose Knox warranty I ended with some smart guy that say the first two can be changed with flashing firmwares and the last one can only changed with root for that reason if you flash a different firmware region the two changed with the default csc on the multi csc and the last one stay same for example in this case MXO/MXO/TCE and the only way to return all the same it's using other carrier sim card temp until you flash the original firmware and then factory reset and when reboots swap sims putting the original carrier sim card in this particular case telcel

Thank you for your answer! But, let me see if I understood.
1- Put a sim from another carrier.
2- Factory Reset.
3- Flash the phone.
4- Turn on, and configure it.
5- Factory reset (again?)
6- Then put the Telcel SIM, before it starts completely
7- And finaly, in the "Welcome" screen, when the phone shows the message of the sim changed, perform another factory reset.
Let me know if I am right,
Right now I don't have another sim, i think that its rare that someone has another carrier But when I have it ill tell you what happenned

Depends what do you want to do.
In this particular case try to get original CSC TCE/TCE/TCE
He has CH/CH/TCE
If you wanna recover original CSC you need to have another carrier sim on step 1 and when you flash the original firmware go to recovery amd factory reset from there and when you put reboot in the process of boot you swap sims, put the original carrier, firmware sim

I've been some research and I found that Claro is Telcel in the rest of America Latina. Maybe its the reason that shows me Claro.

My phone was originally from att but I unlocked it and now use it on telcel and I want to use VoLTE with telcel. I would like to try the att or movistar firmwares but the problem is that (for what I've read) since the last att update was from like March the bootloader is older (v1) compared to telcel or MXO (v2) so you can't downgrade.
What carrier are you using? And what do you want it to be?

As far I know to get VoLTE on telcel you need to buy phone directly with them, because uses the imei to enable that function

I tried anything and nothing works, I think that the unique solution is try with another OWA roms, I don't know if Telcel and Claro SIM's have similar identifiers and thats why returns me to Claro. Don't you know if there are roms with the csc menu activated?

What firmware you already try?

As far I know to get VoLTE on telcel you need to buy phone directly with them, because uses the imei to enable that function

Yes, I thought so too, but the thing is I went to Telcel and asked and the told me that my phone SHOULD have VoLTE but I think that may be associated with my phone number, (since I've had that number for a long time), and not with the IMEI
I just bought samsung s9 SM-G960U but can't it won't update to android 9.0 manually ! it says processing failed
I did some researches I found that it's carrier-related . Some solutions suggests that I use odin to update but I can't choose the right firmware !
In fact :
- when I try to check the csc using *#1234# it show g960usqu2are6 ( I think it's Verizon using google)
- when I log on into samsung website and enter my imei . The product info shows that my carrier type is Sprint
- when I check "about phone/service Provider SW " on my phone the first line contains TMB after G960U and the third line is TGY/TGY/TGY
I'm confused but I want to update my s9 to android 9.0 . Help me

get the firmware here
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s9/SM-G960U/VZW/download/G960USQU4CSC7/265795/
get the most recent version of Odin (i didnt source you a link for that)
open Odin on your computer
unzip the package and get your phone into download mode, connecting it to your computer. Allow drivers to install and when Odin recognizes your device by showing a random number in the port field. Then place the files in their corresponding spots in Odin paying attention to which CSC file you use as one factory resets the phone and the other simply applies the update. It is recommended to use the factory reset CSC when changing from different iterations of the Android OS. Press the start button, allow it to full run the firmware push. It will then automagically reboot (yes, automagically), and youre done.

Once a phone is unlocked, it stays that way forever. Firmware has nothing to do with a phone's locked or unlock status.

Depends how it was unlocked, seen a few members flash new firmware and the phone is SIM locked again, these unlock companies must use some modification to the firmware rather than unlocking it properly

Good to know. Wasn't aware that a phone could be unlocked with firmware alone. I guess it's a temporary overlay or something that "fakes" being unlocked?

Yea must be something that emulates the unlock somehow but once reset or flashed it's gone, always seems to be people who have bought the phone second hand unlocked, it has worked fine with their sim until they reset or flash different firmware, then it's locked again
No network on device after firmware update

sorry, i should have worded that differently. I didnt need the IMEI, just the fact that the IMEI is what came up and that a valid IMEI shows

i havent tried this method, but i did stumble across this
Boot your Samsung Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus
Activate then access the USB debugging mode
Sync your Samsung Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus to your desktop PC
Download this: EFS Restorer Express
Access the application and then open the EFS-BACK.BAT file
Choose a method in order to recover the EFS via Odin
