[LINK][DEV][INFO] SPH-L900 Partition Layout - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

I'm just posting this as I haven't seen it elsewhere. Figured others have to be wanting this as well:
SPH-L900 Partition Layout (SXTP Developers)
I'm linking instead of posting here so that I only have to maintain one version. Would suck to have discrepancies on something as important as this.

Thanks, I copied the information into a Google Doc easier reading.

How did I miss this being posted. I tried doing a heimdall partitions dump and failed. This is what I have been looking for. Any idea how large Preload is? I'm really hoping for at least 300MB

Thank you, and that is worthless. Why would you even set up a 20mb partition?

Updated the layout based on PIT analysis. Much more complete now.

20m is plenty for a mini emergency restore image, or images of firmwares for modems or radios or other auxiliary devices, it's gargantuan to hold config data. I don't know what it was meant to be used for, but there are any number of possible uses for 20m.

Unknown member - providing modems?

Currently, we have Wild and Doc doing most (all?) the modem pulls. People get busy with real life, and sometimes cannot be around to pull new modems as they are released.
I am pulling them as well (have I5 now before posted on board), and can upload them somewhere for people, but was not sure about public reception since I only have 20 posts. If you want to see some of my other work, you can Google me. You can also wait until Doc uploads his version then verify that the MD5 on his modem.bin matches mine (updater-script will not match).
I've made a script to pull modems, and can share that as well, if people want. Be advised that my prepackaged modems do not create a modem.backup file. Instead, I've created a directly flashable UVLEM zip file in it's place, as I feel this is a better solution.
Go ahead and post if people don't want to flash they won't but I prolly will

Storage hog?

So I'm curious if this is normal because I'm assuming my system is using the other 7gbs.
I just can't remember or not if it was like that before and if it's not anybody have some tips to fix it.
I looked around but couldn't really find anything concrete to help.

Definitely something weird with your reading...
If you get Folder Size Chart from Play Store it will show you the breakdown. This is mine:
Its a bit borked with the stupid 0 folder... If you delete something you may have to delete it from both places to make it actually go away. I use it to find rogue files though. Works very well.

Well hopefully you don't have to format again in the future. I use Folder Size Chart whenever my internal is getting low and go through and clear out the big items, its quite handy. I use a similar program on Windows when I have done a bit too much downloading and filled up the terabytes lol.
I use Space Monger on Windows. Theres a couple apps that are similar to that as well.
I like the graphical layout it uses and it lets you see what is the large stuff regardless of how deep its burried in a folder tree.

I might have to check that out - I was using Disk Size Manager with a paid license but I lost the license file somewhere and I won't pay 30 bucks for FolderSizes.
Well, scratch that!
You can still download either an old version or the paid trial, (didn't realize it went to paid. Used to be freeware) but they are going out of business so Space Monger is no more.
There are other programs like it though. Ill try to look around for a freeware one.

Google?
What is this Google you speak of?
It sounds so futuristic and full of millions of results not relevant to my question.
I figured I should ask the "pros" on XDA before I searched on a search engine and not find what I need, but you seemed to have debunked it Einstein.
So helpful, as much sarcasm that was in my previous statement.
I was hoping someone could link me to this, but I wasn't aware it was so horrible and gruesome to just help someone with their questions. In such a rude demeanor, might I add.
I just got this device and havent been around this forum as long as the S4 has been out.
I had the Note 2 before this and in that forum, they were kind enough to link me to TrevE's Wifi Mod".
Now that, was a helpful and courteous forum.
I've looked on countless pages of multiple threads and found nothing.
Thank you for your response, as un-useful as it is, I appreciate it.

Could someone that has successfully done the above methods please post instructions.
I've been trying at this for the past 3 hours and neither method works.
The first method simply doesn't work anymore, I get an error with view log report, but when clicking log report, there is none!
The second method is beyond my level of phone knowledge, I tried to overwrite the file provided, my phone rebooted and I don't see any change, and the instructions are very user-unfriendly
I'm pulling my hair out because for my previous phone it was so easy, I just had to use titanium backup and deleted a specific file. I don't understand why this is so difficult

If anyone can help me out I need the sbl1.mbn file for a T999L LTE . you can pm me if you want but from a rooted phone using terminal emulator you would type this. Its for a JTAG on that model

Jus curious why you need this? Its not something that should ever be touched or messed with. It doesn't get flashed in official firmware.
Also, why are you issuing a command for such a large dump if all you want is something that I believe is less than 1mb in size?
I got a pm from someone else asking the same thing. (App keeps crashing when I try to reply, sorry) I can probably get it from a couple of sources but I'd kinda like to know what you guys need it for too. There may be something else you need instead. Like I said, its not ever flashed or messed with by any normal means.

I am sorry, but I cannot recommend anyone run that command w/o knowing the reason behind it. I just checked and by dumping the first 200mb of mmcblk0 you will be getting a dump of partitions mmcblk0p1 thru mmcblk0p13, and a small chunk of p14 (/system). This includes some of the nvdata, and may include data such as the IMEI number. That was a 2 min look at it, so I'm not sure exactly what all is included on those partitions right off hand, but it is much, much more than just the sbl1.
Dont get me wrong, I'm not saying you want it for malicious purposes by any means. Just that what you are requesting should be accompanied by an explanation of what you need it for and why you want a dump that is so much more than just the sbl1, which is the only thing you actually asked for. And if its because you don't know the partition sbl1 is on, all you needed to do was ask, rather than ask someone to dump a bunch of data without having any idea what they are giving away.
I'm all for helping someone, but this really struck me as an odd request is all as its not something anyone here has ever really needed, and I'd just like to know more if you don't mind.
(Yes, I can think of one reason this could be needed, but I'd like to know for sure what you guys want it for.)
Thanks!

I think I have it on my computer and can get it when I get home shortly.
If someone else wants to pull the sbl1, its on mmcblk0p2, so the terminal command would be this:
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p2 of=/mnt/sdcard/T999L_SBL1.bin bs=4096
If no one else gets it for you before I get back, ill get it to you.

[Q] Flashing zip modems in ODIN

I have downloaded all of the modems from Rwilco's site to test and see which one works best for my area as there are times that my phone will not connect to data.
When I click the pda button and go to the modem zip file it does not show up because it is looking for a tar file.
So, are all of the modems available in a tar format, do I select all files and load the zip, or can I just extract the zip files and flash the modem.bin by itself?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Wrong section, but whatever. I'm not 100% but I'm pretty positive you can just flash the modem zips right with your recovery. Also, the app mobile oden may be worth looking into. Jl I'm sure will chime in here & maybe give you a definite answer, but like I said, rwilco I believe has zips & can be flashed in recovery. I been away from note 2 for a while, & as a wifi only toy there's no need me to look into it, & my memory is ridiculous. Hope this helps.
Edit - I just took a peak. Yeah, don't even need to mess with Odin, rwilco has zip format
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Xparent Red Tapatalk 2
If file is .zip then use recovery. If file is .tar.md5 then use Odin. If file is .rar then it needs to be uncompressed.
