[Q] Continuous rebooting of my phone - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
2 days ago my HTC desire Z stopped working, so I removed the battery and restarted it. From that moment the phone try to restart but in the middle of the procedure it reboots again and again. I tried the recovery from the initial setup: nothing happened!
I removed the sd and save all data, but sms and contacts were not on it. Not all contacts are sync with my google account. I have the whatsapp database on the sdcard but I don't know if it allows a restore in the future or are unuseful (anyone knows?). All my photo are safe!
I never did a backup!
I searched solutions for 2 days and the results are:
- I should install CWM and backup using that ...but I have not permission to do that
- Starting the remote recovery or uploading the .img on the sdcard is not possible because I am not root
- To obtain the root permission I have to follow a procedure that delete my data...so I don't achieve my goal
- An optional solution is use factory reset...but still I lose my data
- There is a procedure on xda to do an Internal Memory Data Recovery but what can I do with the file that I COULD recover? And in any case I should do the reset, installCWM, unlock boot and after I could try to recover my file, right?
Has anyone ideas how to solve my problem?
Thank you a lot in any case and good work with the forum!!
Kia

Not being rooted your options are very limited, you can try booting in safe mode but that's about it other then wipeing and rooting (hold s key while powering on)

Touch screen won't work-Help Please

Hi I'm relatively new to android but have flashed WM & Symbian before and recently got a DHD unlocked on 2.33. Presently not rooted.
This was something I was just gonna look into and try customs ROMS. But now i have a problem from last night hopefully someone here can help with please.
The phone froze so i took out battery to restart, but on reboot the touch screen won't work so I cant unlock it or anything. I would prefer not to factory reset just yet as the last back up i did to export contacts and sync to windows (vista) contacts was a few weeks ago. So am trying to find another solution and more info from experts here.
I have restarted the phone in BOOT mode and now have 4 options:
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
SIMLOCK
IMAGE CRC
Is there a way to reset the phone to see if it is purely a software issue without wiping the contacts data? Or a way to access recovery mode to back up the contacts data, even if this means placing some file on an SD card and accessing it via recovery mode to copy contacts data from the phone to SD card? and are their any other options or tools i can use to back up the data.
EDIT
BTW the phone hasn't been dropped or damaged to precipitate the screen fault.
Rebooting from recovery mode didn't help, problem persists. In the extra options in recovery what does "wipe cache partition" do? could that help?
or is there a recovery image i can use to reflash from SD card without wiping the data?
As when one updates the rom from say froyo to gingerbread the data is kept intact.
Or is it possible to image the rom to sd then access the data before i hard reset.
Any advice or help gratefully received.
If you have usb debugging on, you can access your phone through ADB from your pc. Don't know if there are any other options.
Wiping the cache partition doesn't do anything to the contacts and so on.
Sent out of my Free-Candy-Van. Your kids are safe in there. Trust me.
tbh i cant remember if debugging is on or off now, i do remember enabling it at some point but whether i left it on i can't remember and have no way of telling. But am willing to give adb a go...do u have any more info or a link please?

[Q] problem with Cool3D AceS v4

Bonjour,
I've got a problem with this rom.
I've installed it with this link (http://www.cooldevs.com/archives/120), and just after it, flash:
- Stock_Hboot.zip
- RcTweaks For Stock Hboot
- Weather Pack
Reboot...
There was few decreasements in comparaison of InsertCoin, but the more annoying is the new Market which bug.
He try to restore me all apps (I don't know if it's linked to my problem)
I fell asleep during restauration of all apps andat wake up, I saw that few apps didn't ben restored.
- So I tried to restore them but impossible : I had an download error which was impossible to resolve even with delete the cache of Market application, wipe dalvik cache (executing the script which migrate it to sd-ext on the way). I precise that is was not a problem of space of my ext4.
- A second message at startup which tells me ""your phone is using more current than the charger is able to deliver...". For the moment, I never had this message (maybe it's because it's a pure Sense 3 rom I don't know...)
- In the way, I'm asking if there is a way to prevent Market to restore all apps at startup...because it's very penible if I have many applications, and I prefer to choose myself what I'd like to restore (if it's linked lso to my market problem...)
Edit : Even when restoring my rom, I've problem now with my market. Maybe it's the conversion on the fly of my ext3 partition to ext4 (to test the new rom) with 4ExtRecovery which has problem. So I return to recovery, check partition alignement which tell me that my fat32 is not properly aligned. I wipe partition table to rebuild all and I give you some news.
Edit 2: It changes nothing...now my market of my first rom don't work anymore...
Thanks a lot
OK, partition your card properly first and flash your new rom. Then during setup when you link your account to your phone, click you don't want it backed up and restored, remove both ticks. Then you hold power button and turn airplane mode on. You finish setup, push Titanium backup on your phone and restore your apps. Now you turn airplane mode off and the Market won't be downloading anything anymore. If you don't have TB backup, you're screwed mate. You can't abort silly Google restore nor you can choose what to install, flush list or do anything with it. It completely whacks a concept of having a clean install and that is the reason I hate ports even more. I know this is at best a workaround and not a solution, but probably you won't get anything better.

Ok, Thanks I'll try that for the future if I want to re install a new Rom but why I've this problem even in restoring my old rom?
And the most strange is that the problem is there also with my old HTC Hero under Cyanogen :-(.
Thanks.

[Q] Had low memory after apps update, will not boot now - MIUI-XJ

Hey guys, got a strange problem here. I'm running MIUI-XJ 2.3.30 A2SD.
Had 8 apps to update via Google Play and 31mb internal left (over 600mb on sd-ext, too). In the middle of updating the apps I've got a Google Play crash followed by few other fc's, phone said my internal memory is too low to operate and such - so I tried the most obvious fix, which is of course rebooting the phone.
That was a mistake, apparently. Phone will not boot anymore - goes through the bootscreen and gets stuck on the yellow MIUI splash. It's not a bootloop, the phone just freezes and the only thing I can do is battery removal. Tried booting it up with no sd card as well, nothing seems to help though.
Is there anything I can do except full wipe via recovery? I had some important sms and spent quite a bit of time customizing the desktop, I'm not to keen on doing that again.
Is it possible to delete some apps via adb or something like that? Or is there a point in trying to install the rom again on top of my system?
Thanks in advance, help really appreciated!
Try clearing dalvik cache and cache from recovery and then boot. Thereafter clear some space or change your a2sd scheme.
Thanks for the answer! Makes me feel silly I did not think of that myself lol, sounds like an obvious solution.
Problem is, it still does not seem to help though - wiped /cache and dalvik-cache on data, sd-ext and system - still nothing, same problem persists. Stuck at MIUI bootanimation.
Any other ideas? I'm really kind of desperate to recover the data.
- Take a nandroid backup first. So you can start over if need be.
Some things to try
- Only flash ROM and see if it helps.
- Wipe data. Flash ROM fresh. Install Titanium Backup. With TB locate nandroid on sdcard and try to extract your data. Maybe restoring the launcher and messaging will do the trick. Not sure . Try. You can always start over.
- Fix permissions in recovery
There's an app called AROMA Filemanager that can be started from recovery and allows you to modify all phone partitions, all you need is to mount them before starting the app. Here it is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25911276
Tried flashing the ROM again on top of my system - no effect whatsoever, still gets stuck at bootanimation. Also, tried the permission fix as well as the RMD recovery "apk uid mismatches" fix. Still nothing.
Going to give the AROMA a try, having some problems right now though - using RMD recovery, no touch support. Trying to flash 4ext touch from fastboot somehow!
Thank you. Will keep you updated.
UPDATE//
Managed to get the AROMA up and running, deleted few apps from /data/apps, nothing to delete from /system really. /cache is cleared, so are all 3 dalvik-cache folders.
System still does not want to start.
Any ideas what might have happened? Seems like I'm running out of options and will have to do a clear install, after all.
You probably damaged some important system files so tho phone can't load system. The best solution is to restore some nand backup if you have, or to do a full wipe and start from scratch.

If that was the case, reflashing the ROM on top of my current system should fix the problem, while it didn't - right? Also, I find it hard to believe that "important system files" could have been damaged during routine Google Play apps update...
Than a full wipe and fresh install is inevitable...

[Q] [Solved] Problem with the S-note App

This is driving me crazy, everything was working crazy, then suddenly all hell broke, and nothing seemed to work, but in the end this is the only program left that I wasn't able to get working normally
Device details :
Model : GT-7100
RM : Stock / rooted / perseus kernel
Philz_Touch_recovery 5.0.6
I was using a USB connector to get some files from a friend (not the first time), but for some reason whenever I tried to copy the files they would hang (folder with 1 nfo & 1 avi file, around 64mb in size), I tried the regular file browser and ES file explorer, but neither worked, and this is where I think I made the mistake
I pulled the usb connector without doing a safe removal, then just went home, a couple of hours later I decided to check for updates on google play, and all hell broke loose (it didn't work and kept FC'ing) , eventually I solved this problem (remove updates, clear cach/data, remove and re-enter account)
Then I launched the S-note, and it kept on crashing, so I tried the following :
1 - FC, clear cache/data (did this for Idea sketch/Mini S-note/ 2 S-note packages) rebooted - result : FAIL
2 - Restore from Titanium bakup (tried to restore app only/data only/app+data) rebooting after each method - result : FAIL
3 - FC, clear cache/data (did this for Idea sketch/Mini S-note/ 2 S-note packages), remove all files from the S-note/S-note export folders on the internal SD card, rebooted - result : s-note now opens, shows an empty list (no saved notes) hangs for 3-4 secs, then crashes
I can only think that by removing the usb connector without doing a save removal caused some system file errors (like on a usb drive), and if this is the case, is there a way to fix them without doing a factory reset ? (can this thread help : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396366) I don't want to redo all the work on my beloved note 2 again
sorry for the long OP, but I've tried to include as much info as possible, to clear things for anyone who is kind enough to help
Edit : any idea if this can help ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1271978
it says flashable, I've tried flashing the zip file from Philz touch menu but it gave an error
Edit 02: I've done a wipe data/factory reset through Philz touch, a cwm restore caused the problem to return, so I wiped/reset again and restored apps through titanium backup and things are now working again, I'm not sure which system app was causing the problem (though I suspect it was the S-note sync service, but I'm not willing to risk restoring it)
if a Mod can lock this thread/mark it solved, it would be great, not sure if it would be useful to anyone else though
I didn't have your problem of FC's but I cannot manage to restore S-note setting and Notes with Titanium backup. In addition, I cannot get Pop-up note to work after I remove the S-pen. When I try to restore Snote and Mini S note with Titanium, it just says "Restoring" but never finishes. Was it smooth restore for you?
I am trying to restore after a full wipe coming from DMC3 to DME1
Thx

Firmware update corrupted data

Hello there I updated my international firmware to unlocked/developer and I got a message saying that my password is correct but I need to reset my phone because the data was corrupt.
This is the first time I saw this message so I tried fixing this by formatting the data partition to ext4. I was able to get back but it reset my phone but I have a twrp backup.
However everytime I restore this backup, it does not recognize my pin. I can get into the phone using my finger print but I run into the phone automatically erasing the data if I try to browse the internal data.
I'm already on a clean rom install using a Google backup. I lost some of my pictures because doing dirty installs reset my camera's save location. I wish to try to retrieve my pictures from the twrp if it is possible. Does anyone have ideas?
Did you have the SD Card set as adoptable storage, or external storage that was encrypted? That might help with someone answering your post.
I feel your pain, I learned of adoptable storage the hard way when I was installing a rom and ended up wiping data because of the install method I was testing not working out, which also took out everything on my sdcard including my backups, it sounds goofy now, but at the time I didn't see it coming lol.
I think you may want to check the last few pages of @Sneakyghost 's HTC 10 firmware thread for discussion of a problem like yours, and someone has posted a link to help another user that had a similar problem to yours, unless that was you. It's in the HTC 10 guides and news section I believe.

After restoring your nandroid you have to reboot into recovery and delete the three lockscreen files in data/system. Then reboot and you will need to re setup your pin and fingerprints.
Sorry deleted I thought this was my thread when waking up in the middle of the night.
Still have no answer. Even though I was mentioned.
