I think there's no case that is protecting physical buttons on Arc S but you can always try something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Black-Leather...&ie=UTF8&qid=1357905128&sr=1-5&keywords=arc+s
http://www.amazon.com/N4U-Online-Su...ie=UTF8&qid=1357905199&sr=1-26&keywords=arc+s
At least buttons will be protected when your phone will be in your pocket

PDAir Case
Check this out. I have never personally used it but is planning to.

I think on screen button is solution

Not exactly. Where did you get this?
I never had any protection on my old X10 Mini Pro, which is having the same buttons, and they never showed any fade signs in about year and half of usage.

I use navigation screen button with Ultimate Hd rom

[Q] DOES the colour of arc fades quickly

i have heard that the colour and chrome finish of arc fades away rather quickly from the edges and near the buttons?
Is this true?
PLEASE ONLY THOSE ARC USER SHOULD ANSWER WHO ARE OWNING THE ARC FOR AT LEAST A MONTH
Sorry for my bad english......
Simply not true.
Had X10 for a year and Arc for one month and neither faded or chipped.
I do take care of the devices but they are used heavily.
No problems here.. almost three months on Arc for me.. and 12 months on X10 prior to that..
Also no problems here. Have the Arc for about 1 month and have used it a lot...
Also no problems here..
almost two months on Arc for me..
mine has fading already, around 4 months of usage, at the chrome part.
It's at the lower part of the phone (left and right side), must be because that's where i hold the phone while using it
closing in on 5 months of use of my Arc, still nothing like what you described
maybe because my hands get sweaty easily, must be acidic
I use a rubber case that prevents some of this
I've used mine for 3 months now, and just a bit of paint on the back has faded (a thin line near the camera lens, probably because I keep it in my pocket most of the time and the fabric rubs against it).
It's not really visible though.
Other than that, it's in perfect shape.
4 months here, no sign of any fading or any other noticable wear & tear.
Havent used any kind of case, just keep it in my pocket with my wallet. No keys or coins in that pocket though.

[Q] Screen on the Arc S

So I bought my first ever android device the other day, an Xperia Arc S. Love it to bits, however I really am paranoid.
I haven't bought a case yet, so I dont take the phone outside (use my old phone) and I haven't got a screen protector yet either.
I was looking up screen protectors for the Arc S online and I came across a post that said apparently the phone comes pre-installed with a screen protector. Is that true? I know I have a spare set of screen protectors that came with the box, along with the HDMI cable, USB cable, Mains adapter and Headphones. However, no leather case as I've seen people mention!
I'm in the UK so it's a UK phone, and bought it Sim free and it's the white one.
If it does have a screen protector on, is the protection enough? Should I put on another screen protector, just to be safe?
yeah they come with screen protectors on. look at the corners/edges in the light and you can make it out. i've found the screen protector is enough protection, although if you are prone to dropping your phone often, you may want to consider purchasing a case/pouch.
also before you put another screen protector on, remember that screen protectors tend to dim the display as it creates another layer for the light to go through. also this extra layer means you may have to press a bit harder on the screen.
I even removed the factory applied screen protector as it was scratched up a bit and so far no scratches on the screen.

Thanks guys, so I take it it's a global thing, rather than it being region specific?
I've bought a case and pouch (hasn't been delivered yet)
Since you guys are owners of the Arc S, how do you feel about the bottom 3 buttons? Do they feel a bit loose and flimsy to you?
Got the Arc without S and the buttons don't feel lose.

Hmm that is a bit worrying. What I mean is that the other 2 buttons (back button and settings button) seem to only have one connection point (in the middle of either buttons) and because the buttons are long, as they move towards the Home button, it feels really loose, and I can press that part of it quite inwards without the phone responding?

Also I have a question, don't need to make a new thread for it I reckon:
The top of my screen (statusbar) burns in a bit, probably because of water (leaving it unprotected in a damp bathroom, I'm a dumbass). But there's another issue. I've got a lot of dead pixels in the top half of my screen, maybe ten of them, they're easy to spot on a black background. Could that be caused by suspected water damage too?
I've contacted support, and they said their logistics partner would call me to let them get my phone, but after two missed calls they haven't called in weeks (suckers).
The sticker on my battery hasn't coloured btw, and no other issues on the phone too.

[Q] Xperia Arc screen help.!

Hello, found a few scratches on my Xperia Arc screen and got very disappointed, I thought it had scratch resistant screen, later I took a close look to the screen and found out that it had one more screen layer, could anyone tell me if it can be removed or not, because when I asked SE support team, the operator told me that it can be removed, I just wont a suggestion, help guys.
I would not touch that layer it is part of the capacitive sensor on the screen if I'm not mistaken
yeah, I'm afraid of that too, but support team convinced me in opposite
Yes, you can remove it without problems. I did it in December without problems so far.
Sent from my iPad 2 using Tapatalk
how did you remove it? any suggestions to peel it off? It's a bit hard to do that ( with nails )
With my nails
It takes a while to pick up a corner, but once you got a corner picked up it's easy.

Part of capacitive sensor ?? Lol
Anyways..it's just a screen protector..if got scratched,replace it with a new one..
And in this case,i would suggest you to seek some professional help as you might end up making new scratches in order to remove the protector. It's a tough job and needs a lot of love and care d(^_^)
Thank you all, I did it, it really was a screen protector, if found layer like this on your arc , you should peel it off, as a result you get Better colors, touchscreen enhancement and sharper image.
I dont think that we should remove the screen guard. SE provides two screen guards with the handset. One comes already pasted on ur handset and other comes in the box. we need not remove it as it keeps the main screen safe from scratches..
I really agree with your, but that screen protector makes touchpad less sensitive and colors are less vivid, so I prefer being extra careful with my phone then looking at Less Attractive screen
Last time I checked the screen protector I have on doesn't change the quality, clearness or the color of the display. Just saying.
Protect your screen with one. Most of them now a good and leave your screen feeling normal.
i know its an old question but anyway i have one question.how hard is it to peel of the screen protector? im trying it right now and im afraid of braking something, should i force it off or what?
It is glued there so you may have to use some force to peel it off.

Xperia XA1 Touch on the edge of display not working properly

I am having touch issue here with Xperia XA1. I bought two phones for me and my gf. Touch on the edges of the phone are not working properly on both phones. Keyboard keys like P and L are unresponsive.
I have seen other people complaining on Sony Forum.
Is anyone here having the same issue?
Thanks.

Not here. The full keyboard works without any trouble. If you enable "show taps" in developer options, you can see if your phone is actually detecting your touch.
It could be a faulty digitizer. Happens with even the best flag ships so it's not impossible.

Hi there. I see that you are using an XA1, can I ask you something? Would you be so kind to share its stock wallpapers from its system files please? I know this is not related to your topic but I'm just so desperate to have them...:crying:
I have no Issues with my touch screen. Although when I bought a new cheap screen protector off ebay I am finding sometimes it becomes "unresponsive" (in the corners the screen protector "lifts up" due to the curved glass of the phone and starts collects dust/grime).
Removing the screen protector fixes the issue. Do you have a screen protector?
Another option would be to go into: Settings - About phone - Diagnostics to test the screen. you can tap/ swipe anywhere on the screen and it will give you feedback on if it registered the tap or not. Lets us know!
I also experienced this issue but after switching from Swiftkey keyboard to G-Board and it seems that the issue went away so I doubt it is a hardware issue.
I'm just going to provide an update and say that now even without the screen protector, this phone doesn't really register my touches at the bottom right hand side of the screen. Especially the letter "p", "l", and the backspace key.
Changing keyboards doesn't seem to fix anything. Not sure if I should request for a new phone, or if it could be software related.
EDIT: It seems to have gotten progressively worse. Now its almost impossible to press the "p", "L" and backspace keys and the touch registers maybe 20% of the time. I'm going to ask for a refund, or a replacement.

That's got to be hardware. I reckon your digitizer is faulty. You should be able to return it to the retailer for a replacement. Or get Sony to do it for free.

I have same problem and go to sony care 3 days. Everything work perfectly
I want to give a summary of my story here.
I bought two xperia xa1 about a month ago. Both phones are having touchscreen issue within a week (edges of the screen are not sensitive). I sent to local service center in Singapore.
Now I have got my phones back. They replaced the screen for both phones and they are working fine so far.
Thanks to Sony, my new phones become refurbished phones just after being bought.
I feel like I bought refurbished phones with premium price.
It appears , there are certain batch of devices which have digitizers issues along edges ....
There are similar complaints on amazon regarding the same.

I thought so. Reading through forums on Sony and other websites and you see quite a few people who have this issue.
I got mine replaced on the spot at the store I bought my phone from. So far no issues. But I keep my fingers crossed.
Sony should address this issue. It might be a cheap phone, but still it's their responsibility and should issue a recall, or a replacement for all phones that have this issue.

This is not the first time ,when a batch of devices faced an issue .AFAIK, Xperia Z has a lot with yellow tint. Also one another phone with really fragile speaker.
This might be issue with one particular batch , which might have escaped while testing.
Or issue with display vendor.
Otherwise a solid device.
You don't have to stick with the keyboard the phone came with also why not use the speech to text function and just talk
Yes. I too had the same issue. Did a screen and touch replacement under warranty. Working well
@ross23 @Ticklefish
What screen protector are you guys using ?
There are some reports about screen protectors interfering with touch.
I am not using any screen protection , just a generic rubber case for impact protection.

You can resize the keyboard to "deal" with the issue. But keep in mind that this touch screen issue affect all other apps too. Games and stuff. I personally don't think it is possible to use a phone with a defecting touch screen for long.

I am currently using the Zuslab 3D curved tempered glass screen protector I bought off ebay.
Its good, it does cover the whole screen, including the curved edges of the phone, however, it only has adhesive around the edges of the screen protector, not in the middle. So the middle of the screen does feel a little "hollow" as it an air bubble and not adhesive.

I'm just using a thin plastic one I bought from Amazon for a couple of bucks. It's really just to provide a bit of scratch protection. I'm using a proper case to protect the actual phone.

Maybe the touch issue is a software problem. A few hours ago someone on gsmarena said the problem was resolved with latest software update! (in the XA1 discussion).

Adhesive screen problem. I no longer trust Xperia

Hi. Sorry for my English. I have a problem with the display on my XZ1c. The same problem as with my previous z3c (3 times!). The screen takes off in the upper left corner. They have repaired it and after 1 year .... again !! Has anyone had that problem? I have had 9 Sony Xperia but I no longer trust ...
I do not want a larger size and the ONLY possible option is the future Iphone 12 (same size as XZ1c). But I like Android ...

I'd rather have a slightly larger screen than any iPhone, so if you consider that to be an option of any kind I'd jump ship now.
Any video sample

Thank you.
I prefer Android. I have never used Iphone. I know this forum is from Android but ... why don't you advise using IPhone?
It's a really annoying problem that I had many times with my Z3Cs. The device still has a lot of support but I'd never go back to it.
I currently have two X Compacts and two XZ1 Compacts and fortunately none of them have this issue (yet). I haven't seen any other reports of it on here before.

I replaced the screen on my XZ1c because I was having the same issue with the screen lifting up and the screen also had weird splotches of color either from it being bent out all kinds of stuff getting in there. Here are my experiences.
The way I fixed it was to buy some b7000 glue from Amazon and just put glue where the screen is lifting up.
https://www.amazon.com/Catpalm-Adhe...keywords=b7000+adhesive&qid=1590475714&sr=8-3
If that doesn't work I would recommend removing the whole screen, purchasing the screen adhesive strip from somewhere like witrigs
Link to adhesive:
https://www.witrigs.com/witrigs-back-cover-sticker-for-sony-xperia-xz1-compact
Then glue the screen back on with the adhesive strip and put a layer of b7000 all around the back of the screen. Just make sure not to put too much. This worked for me and I tested it and it's still waterproof.
But obviously I wouldn't recommend testings that.
Also if any of the glue is sticking out at the end it can be cut off our pulled off after it has dried.

I would recommend checking out the Galaxy S10e, it is a pretty great device which is not much larger than our beloved XZ1c, and some of the XZ1c developers are moving over to it too.
Here are the specifications for the Galaxy S10e:
https://m.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s10e-9537.php
I also attached a picture showing the size of the phones next to each other and some other phones.
One last thing,
I would recommend looking at this thread to see if they have other phone ideas:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-xz1-compact/help/alternative-to-xz1c-t3890142/page1
The Galaxy S10e 5.8“ is substantially larger than the XZ1C 4.6“ screen. I'd go with a Pixel 1 at 5.0" before going to a 5.8" screen.

That's true.
Though the overall size of the S10e is the same as the Pixel 1. The S10e has a larger screen since it has smaller bezels all around.
So if phone size is important it and not specifically the screen size I think it has better hardware, although worse developer support for now, I'm guessing. And battery life also isn't as good.

(Comparison in attached pictures)
Old thread, but still very relevant.
I am interested to know what would be the best solution in this case for the XZ1 Compact. I can see that even the adhesive Sony is selling to ASWO for this device is not gluing the screen onto the body properly.

How is that Witrigs adhesive? Is it water resistent in and of itself or just as good as the Sony one?
Did anyone try heating it up before and after placing the screen onto the body?
EDIT: The adhesive is Hot-Melt. Heat it up to at least 60 C and it will glue the screen like factory.
