Ubuntu for phones in HTC Desire - Desire General

will it be possible to install ubuntu for phones in HTC Desire? What do you think about?

I would say that there is no dev who will be bothered to even try make it for Desire.

well, i believe it will be done sooner or later because desire has the potential to run "that".

In my opinion, I don't think it will be possible to run ubuntu on a low end device like desire.
And if some devs managed to do this, it will have a lot of performance/stability issues.

Even if someone would port it I expect the performance to be subpar so no point.

G7 can run ubuntu .

Maybe go and try port it to Desire? We will see if it can run it..

The desire becomes old school so I think not...

desire just single core i think not work in desire

I think Android is based on Linux, if the developers think we could have verifications Ubuntu on Desire.

"The instructions for porting are pretty straightforward. Since Ubuntu Touch is just a CyanogenMod 10.1 base with the Ubuntu Touch interface running in a container and accessed via chroot, if your device currently runs CM10.1 then you’ll be able to port this."
I think it is closer to port Ubuntu Touch on HTC Desire than we thought...

Yeah you're right;

Hey guys,
This is my first ROM, based on LeeDrOiD 2.2f. It is designed to be a clean ROM, with some additions like OCUV and busybox. This ROM has a good amount of pre-installed apps. Is anyone willing to test this for stability? If I get enough people, I'll upload the ROM tomorrow with some more details.

Android 2.3 is very much stable than ics or jb...
That's why many users prefer it...

this! i currently use stock prerooted GB with sense 1.9. while i do miss some functions from sense 3.5, it's speed is still unmatched, not to mention in comparison to ICS or JB. and yeah, it works!!
Really old....don't see a download so this probably shouldn't be in Dev. Close or move....hmmmm.......move it is.

Such a shame that our devs gave up on the sense 4 port due to trolls, look what the touch 4G guys got:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751553

I think its a near impossible task to make sense4 work on armv6..
Probably this will encourage the Dev to continue the sense 4 Rom again

They are not compatible for a reason. Mainly hardware's fault.
its probably just an Android thing, like some apps work on Android 2.2+ and some apps will only work on Android 4.+

Your question is fail on so many levels that I shouldn't even bother. Namely, an answer to your question is so thoroughly described over past three years that it can be found on almost every corner. Second, rom you quoted doesn't work that much that if you couldn't restore the rom you just use, the only place your phone would be appropriate for would be garbage bin. Third, totally unrelated in any aspect with the topic here.

Yes it does, but on the page you downloaded the apk there is a reason why it is incompatible. It is much better than it was before, but it is too damn slow on Desire that it looks like a joke compared to other browsers. I can't say what would happen on fastrr/better hardware, so that could be a reason too.
