I am a long time CM user. I used AOKP briefly a while back but switched back to CM. I recently (yesterday) gave AOKP another shot. I like the small customizations not found in CM, but I would really like to know what are some features found in AOKP that you frrlntou cannot live without? I'm looking for something I may have missed in my evaluation as well as opinions from other users on features they like the most from that ROM.

In my experience CM is more stable than AOKP. But AOKP has more mods that I like, small things like a centered clock and the ability to change navbar. Navbar customization is very limited in CM. Also I stopped using kernels other than what is packaged with the ROMs, and I haven't had any random reboots.

well, I'm using AOKP, and before used CM. I liked more AOKP cause your customizations. but about stability, for me both is the same. but I chosen AOKP cause my Gnexus had a problem that usb in not charging, I had hoped that the problem were the software and after install some ROMs, AOKP was unique that make my usb work good

Galaxy Nexus Owners,
I've been on ICS AOKP because I love the fully customizable navigation bar. I haven't found this feature on any JellyBean ROMs yet, but I also haven't tried many of them. Does anybody know of a stable JB ROM that has a fully customizable nav bar (allows for custom buttons/applications)? Thanks for your recommendations...

Find aokp nightlies on rootzwiki. I'm on build 9 and it has nearly all the old mods.

Try paraniodandroid. Its cm10 based, so you get your jellybean and customizable Nav bar.
I'd just wait until theirs a stable jb AOKP

Stable version of AOKP will come out soon and you shouldn't waste your time wiping and flashing multiple times
But if you want JB ROM right now, AOKP nightly brings almost everything that was in AOKP ICS
Codename. It has a nice balance of battery life and performance. Plus, it's one of the most stable I've tested thus far.
Thanks all, I will wait for a stable AOKP.
I'm using xenonhd on my nexus. They have the quick toggles and just added a brightness slider to the notification bar.

I was very impressed with Friday's AOKP nightly. I had tried it a few times before and found it was slow, glitch and nowhere as stable as other AOSP ROMS I had run. Boy did they turn things around. I will switch back when the release candidate is dropped. I really enjoyed all the customization. Right now I am on CM10 official.

Cna or Aokp nightlies. You're missing out if you're still rocking ics. Flash one of the two and you will happy. If you want a cm10 go for the skank jellybro. They're all rock solid right now and its worth flashing for the performance improvement alone

I agree with him missing out on the experience and performance, and also agree on flashing code name if he wants to, but I believe he's used to AOKP stable, therefore, it's best for him to just wait until stable version releases, which won't be long

I'm on the cm10 skank jellybro nightly which has customisable nav bar, but I don't think to the same extent as aokp.

I'm using the black bean ROM which is based on aokp nightlies.
it's been quite stable and has nav bar customization and theme engine.
based on the number of roms in this thread already I'd say most aosp based roms should have this functionality.
sent from outer space, probably
codename rom. stable.. and so customizable. With a great kernel this thing is beat on battery.
CyanogenMod or die.

Hey,
Just curious why there isn't an AOSP rom in the making or anything. There's pretty much every other rom available either in beta or stable but I'm just surprised that an AOSP rom hasn't been started. My assumption is that it would be easier to port AOSP compared to AOKP or CM, but I'm probably wrong in that statement. Anyways, just curious why there isn't one.
Thanks

AOKP is AOSP with some mods, CM is a more heavily modified version of AOSP.

Right, I knew that, but they are still not pure AOSP considering all of the mods put into the roms.

Hello, I'm just wondering about two specific ROMs I really like: NexusHD and PARANOIDANDROID
Please share your experiences! I'd really like to know which one is "better"
They are very different. Download both and try them both out, see which one you like most
Anyone with a specific answer?

I've tried Paranoid Android and loved it. Was different, but in a good way, just as AOKP is different than CM.

Thanks, the ability to change dpi settings and tablet ui is pretty unique!
Once you use paranoid you'll never leave it. The DPI settings are beyond great and no other ROM has it.
Never tried NexusHD, but Paranoid Android is really cool and really useful too, especially on a big phone like Galaxy Nexus. It has most of the features that other custom ROMs have too.
The reason why I am using AOKP right now is because I find it more stable for some reason. I also found it smoother... Not to say that Paranoid Android is bad...

Have you considered CNA?
It's AOSP based on CM and AOKP.

Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone has thoroughly tested both Cyanogenmod 10 and AOKP with Jelly Bean. If you have, what are the performance differences, as well as the default theming, and most importantly, battery life. I'm currently on Bugless Beast which has no modifications, so I'm not really interested in which has more features, because I'm sure they're both full of them. Currently I get around 2 hours of screen on time (CDMA Nexus), which I consider good, so If you've experienced more than that on either of these roms, please let me know. I plan on switching to one of them when I receive some good reviews. Thanks

1) Make a backup of your current ROM
2) Flash either AOKP or CM10
3) Try said ROM out for ~1 week
4) Make backup of that ROM
5) Flash next ROM and try it out

This is not meant to be rude, but just the dead honest truth.
Seriously, if you're not into customizing, stock. Stock ROM, stock kernel, just stock. Unless you have Verizon since there's no JB update I don't think
If you really want either of them, here's my "short comparison"
AOKP: AOKP is probably one of the most customizable ROM out there. It has all the settings that I personally care for and use a lot. On top of that, faux kernel helps this ROM run like a boss! Not a smoothest ROM though to be honest. Also not all the features from ICS is in JB yet, so keep that in mind.
CM10: This also has a lot of customization, but not as customizable as AOKP. (That's only by few features though). CM is known for how stable it is. I personally had no issue with CM when running it on my GSM phone. However, there isn't stable version yet.

That again you need to decide. Every device is different. I personally had better experience with Faux (Maybe because it is stock for AOKP? I dunno)

I never tried CM9, but if it's anything like CM10 M1, AOKP Jelly Bean latest build has a bit more features. But I could personally care less for. You should just backup your ROM and try AOKP if you ask me. If you don't like it, you can simply restore.

Yeah, but CM is a bit more stable in my taste. But nothing to write a book about AOKP is very stable, like you said.
You can't judge a rom if it isn't labeled as "stable" by the dev.
I am using AOKP since the
early ICS builds and i am using their JB versions now. They have tons of customization (and much more to come) and although they are considered nightlies (actually they are weeklies or so ) they are pretty stable and fast.
I have always used franco kernel with it and it is just great.
I currently use AOKP build 4 with franco r281, a black wallpaper, black theme and auto brightness. I get 4 hours of on screen time using the extended 2000mah battery. Besides the on screen time the rom is very battery friendly, with no random wakelocks.

I'd like to go back to AOSP (or AOKP, doesn't matter). I just want to go back to stock Android and be done with Touchwiz.
Currently, what's the best AOSP-based ROM? When I say best, I mean bug free, usable as a daily driver, and with good/decent battery life. Most of the ROMs I'm seeing are nightlies or still have a lot of bugs.
I don't care if it's JellyBean or ICS.
Any ideas?
The 9/15 CM10 nightly works great for me as a daily driver and I need my phone for work. The flickers are almost non-existent and it's really not annoying. The more recent nightlies of CM10 seem to have newer issues, but 9/15 is extremely stable.
I just keep flashing the cm10 nightlies. I certainly use all the roms, but it's worked well for me. They had the echo fixed in a couple days.
Plus, Cyanogen works for Samsung.
I have an offer from lucid (which works with Samsung). Anyone want to take their money. They want apps
