Hello,
I saw this video of Launcher 7 and was wondering how he got the lockscreen, icons, and the game hub, does anyone know how?
Here is the video:

Thanks
Here it is on the Nexus One:

That's an actual Windows Phone. Not android. To mimic it, you can download Metro UI or Launcher 7 off the market. The game hub is Microsoft's, so you can't get that. You can't really copy the lockscreen.
If you like the Windows Phone's style so much, Sprint has the HTC Arrive.

Partially correct, it's actually a rather old and outdated WinMo phone, with a hackey port of WP7 on it.
No, that's a hd2 running android and launcher 7. Can someone tell me how he got this?
Thanks

I userstand that the HD2 is capable of running wp7, but I can assure you that that is android.
It has skyfire, gmail, pulse and other android apps that cannot be run on wp7, that's why I want to know how the user achieved this, It is very convincing, a same layout is avaliable for the nexus one, I have seen it. Does anyone know how to achieve this look?
Thanks
And I will post launcher 7 on the nexus 1 soon to show you guys

-________- Windows phone has all those apps too; it has a market, you know.
And it even has a freaking Windows logo at the bottom of the phone.
There's a port for the HD2 to make it Android, but it is NOT originally android.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxkIJdG2brU <--- THAT IS THE HD2. The video you posted is the HD2 with WindowsMobile 7.
This is what you saw: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiWDafvuaRw
Edit: Woah wait a minute...is that an Android port running? After watching it a bit more, it's like a mixture of two ports :S
Edit2: It must be a ROM or something, because some of those apps aren't accessible on the Android Market. I'm confused now xD
And if you're right about Android, that was really convincing. Launcher 7 has live tiles?
Look at the first video that i showed you, that is launcher 7, not windows phone 7:

Here is the same thing for nexus one

Yeah I see it now..sorry.
What confuses me is how he got the apps to look so much like the ones from Windows 7.
I was also confused before because even though the HD2 originally has Windows Mobile, he clearly had a port for Android and then decided to make the HD2 with Android look like Windows 7 xD

It seems like he's using different launchers to mimic the People, Games etc hubs. Launcher Pro, ADW EX, etc. the launchers are heavily themed to get the same effect as the WP7 hubs, and then the launcher is linked to tiles on the home screen to get the full effect. Seems pretty straightforward to link the launchers to tiles on the homescreen, but all the theming and wallpapers, to mimic the hubs is way beyond my skill set. Anybody have any ideas?
Like the guy above me said, that is setup like this:
The main launcher is launcher7.
The hubs are just links to other launchers, probably adw, launcherpro, and go launcher.
You link the hub tiles to the respective launcher you have set up for it, and boom.
Edit: its too bad L7 doesn't work right on ICS yet. I miss using it.
Edit 2: and the wallpaper is probably multi live wallpaper. Not sure though how each launcher has a different wallpaper though.

i just threw this on my CM9 beta2 Epic4g and love it. Only issue so far is that widgets behave erratically... sometimes the BW widget from the "top" will appear on top of a standard tile towards the "bottom" and then disappear if i tap it...it still remains in the correct place, but it's like the launcher is confused where it should be on the homescreen briefly. oh, sometimes the widget will just disappear but then reappear when tapped on again. using the power widget, if i turn on wifi it will disappear, but then reappear when i tap the blank spot and wifi will be turned on.
** EDIT for new info **:
Flash for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be out before the end of 2011. There will be no Flash support for Android 5.0:
http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/43152/flash-for-android-4-end-2011-no-flash-for-android-5
The main reason why I switched to Android was it's Flash support. Finding out recently that ICS did not support Flash and that Adobe was discontinuing Flash development was very discouraging.
Google has confirmed that Flash is not yet operational in ICS, but Google is also confirming that Adobe will support Flash in ICS.

So Flash Player doesn't even show up in the Android Market on the Galaxy Nexus but I thought that one can install the apk on the phone. It seems that this doesn't work either, according to other users who've already got theirs. e.g. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351167
Half the bloody web uses Flash. How are we supposed to view those sites?
To be honest I'm glad there is no support at the moment and wish that it wouldn't come. I haven't missed it since upgrading to the Nexus and if anything browsing is faster!
has anyone tried side loading it
Flash is going to die in mobile platforms, and we should be pressing video stream websites to use html5, instead of crying about flash's death. Damn memory/cpu hog.

i dont know about you guys, but for me, more then half the web uses flash. The only reason im not getting iphone because of flash. The stream i always go to, uses flash. gonna wait a month, if they dont support flash on nexus, im getting sgs2
SGS2 will eventually get ICS and will have similar "problem"

you keep running the Apple party line. the rest of us would prefer to have the option for when we need it.
Adobe Flash is currently #24 in the top (free) apps for Android. and the majority of the low reviews are from idiots using 50 dollar Cricket android phones.
don't like it? don't use it. no reason to come in here and spout nonsense.
Hopefully this will shut up the people who keep going on about no Flash support on the GN. It's a brand new hardware running a brand new software; of course there are going to be compatibility issues for early adopters.

Several people have reported trying to sideload the latest flash apk for Honeycomb - it didn't work.
About the apps issue, how long is it before they usually get sorted out and ready for the latest OS (right now ICS). I know that the main reason I use my phone for is Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Browsing.
I'm not guessing too long right?

If those 4 things are your main concerns it shouldn't be a problem. As far as I know Twitter works fine. Official Facebook app has always been pretty ass on the Android so if you can live with it before you can probably live with it now. YouTube is natively supported and apart from not having Flash the browser is blazing fast.

I think if it deffenetely comes out this way would make alot of people happy having a dual boot letting you choose touchwiz/ or stock ics i know this is gs2 section but im sure most of us will be picking up the gs3 upon release

Yup. Touchwiz is arse. I despise it.
I personally don't care if the carrier or manufacturer wants to make a custom launcher or apps or whatever, but it SHOULD be up to the end user to decide if they want it. Say for example an added step in the initial setup of the phone.
This might give them some good stats as to who is actually using the apps vs who isn't which would in turn tell them if its worth the $$ to pay their developers for the extra crap. If not, save the money and use it for better things....like say expanding/improving coverage.... ya know

Agreed. If the manufacturers want a custom UI, I'm all for it. But let them release it in the market as an app and let the users decide! If it were just the launcher, I wouldn't care. I always end up installing a 3rd party launcher anyway, even over AOSP launcher. But the manufacturers screw things up by mucking with the entire OS, like a virus. Trying to make their phone "different". Here's an idea. You want the phone to stand out, release it as AOSP. Have good hardware, stop making varients that you don't support, and deliver timely updates. Or at a minimum, release all driver sources with the release of a phone, so drones can leave their phone stock, and the dev community can customize from day 1.
These things will make your phones stand out, make them "different". And manufacturers, I promise you will be rewarded in sales and customer loyalty.

I just had a thought...what if PC manufacturers put their own skins over windows...mother of God...
And they wonder what they have to do to make people like their phones...take a lesson from the PC world and for gods ssakes look at apple...uniform OS across it's mobile Devices...using an iPhone is the same as using an ipad...your friends phone works exactly like yours...that's why apple is so successful. They know that they don't have to make a versitile OS if they just make it work uniformly...
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA
I always preferred AOSP over TW, but if you think about it, TW isn't too bad because you can just freeze it and run a third party launcher over it. HTC Sense, on the other hand, takes up a lot more resources even when frozen since the ROM is based on Sense
Its not "Dual Boot" it's a simple Dual Launcher, not sure why you consider this big news. You don't need to buy the SGS3 to have "Dual Boot" as you put it, simply go to the market and get another Launcher like ADW or Go Launcher or Launcher Pro, then you will have your "Dual Boot"...
FYI "Dual Boot" means having the option to boot two OS, like Windows & Linux, Android & Windows mobile

Maybe you are confused homie. TW is the entire framework for the OS, as Sense is with HTC devices. Certain AOSP items cannot be applied no matter how much you tweak and theme. Please read before attempting to look smart.
The article makes no mention of how the dual-launch capabilities will be implemented so how the hell are you people assuming or not assuming that it will be a launcher or dual boot?
Jeez, find something to do rather than talking it like you have the device and know what's going on.

Hey everyone.
Recently purchased a nexus 4 after being an iphone man for 5 years.
I love the customisation options available on the nexus 4 but I am a little spoilt for choice and finding it hard to know where to begin.
My biggest question is.
Is it possible to completely setup multiple themes and have them switch at the touch of a button?
I change my mind quite a lot and would like to be able to switch themes on the fly depending on my mood.
Is this at all possible? Is there any apps that you can recommend to help?
Changing on theme chooser is just few clicks.
And I think u can create a shortcut for a specific commands on your homescreen.
It also depends on the ROM that has those features.

Hey jaks6888
Theme website My Color Screen has recently come out with an app called "Themer" to do exactly that. At the moment, the app is still in beta, but you can head on over to their website to sign up. Or, download it from the Play Store, but you'll have to input a beta key you get after signing up.
Alternatively, you can root your phone and install a ROM such as Paranoid Android or Cyanogenmod, which let you switch between themes any time you like. Unlike Themer, this can change the entire look of your phone, right down to the status bar and keyboard. And by the way, a Nexus 4 is the easiest phone to root!

Is it possible without needing to install a ROM? What I basically want is the ability to have the dockbar move to the bottom of the screen when I rotate it to landscape instead of staying on the short side like it currently does. I want my dockbar always along the bottom edge of the screen no matter what position I'm holding the tablet. Currently no launchers that I know of allow this as an option. Any ideas that don't involve ROMs?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2418867
This should do that until a new mods gets released .
You have to be rooted for this mod to work.
Hope that helps.

I prefer that tablet ui too... would love some insight if tablet ui is possible at all in a CarbonRom.
I like the Honeycomb look better as well. My biggest issue is that all of the apps from the play store are downloaded as the phone version, not the tablet version. I bought a tablet to have tablet apps, not phone apps - I don't care that the screen is only 7".
Honeycomb ui works fine for a tablet all operations takes place below the screen. Unlike this new ui were you always have to reach the notification area
Most other android tablets ( like galaxy tab, acers and others) Have the tabletUI (honeycomb or whatever the hell you wanna call it)
Why? Because with the way you hold your tablet, its way easier to hit the buttons and swipe where you need to with that setup.
At least it would be nice to have the option to change it.
I use guest profiles and what not so i cannot use the method posted above
Hopefully we will get tablet UI on stock somehow working good....

You DO get tablet apps if you want. Changes in DPI determine app layout. PA lets you choose DPI on an app to app basis without trashing your market. Meaning modifications to build.prop are broad and make your market think you are a tablet which for some apps is bad, so they don't do that.

However (for whatever reason) some companies/developers choose to publish two separate apps to the Play Store - one for phones and one for tablets, and unless your device is identified as a tablet the tablet version of the app is marked as incompatible (and the phone version doesn't include the tablet layout so it isn't available by dpi/layout changes).
Again, however, this is something that the app devs should be sorting - provide one apk that contains all layouts and the problem is solved (because then you can use PA or whatever to use whichever layout you like).

Do you think we can edit the build prop or something to fool the play store into thinking we are using a nexus 10?
