[Q] need help with battery mod gone wrong - HTC One X

I flashed a battery mod for one x from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588789
but I forgot the important points that were written and flashed the zip which was meant for de-odexed roms only, on a stock rom
and I didnt make a backup at the time (sorry for being lazy - but thats how we learn I guess)
I do have an old backup, but its 2-3 days old and is a backup of clean rom
I dont want to lose the stuff I did to the phone in the 2-3 days
so i was wondering whether I could just take the original files from the backup i made and just replace them in the system folder - or maybe create a flashable zip for it - if its possible
I flashed this -
Stock HD - base 3.14.401.27/31, Graphics original artwork by Shenye
this is the last battery mod in the thread
all help appreciated

can I just restore the system partition??

Yes and wipe the cache and dalvik cache within recovery to avoid problems
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium

Restoring system may revert some of the things you did.
Try making a flashable zip which contains your original systemui.apk
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app

I didnt check - but is systemui.apk the only file that is replaced in the battery mod??
and how can I make a flashable zip?

The script replaces SystemUI.apk and adds one apk. You can get rid of it later.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app

yes I checked, and there are 2 apks
i can delete the 2nd apk via root
but i dont know how to create a flashable zip
can i replace systemui.apk via root explorer??
or push it via fastboot - if so , what command should i use??

Are you saying you can boot the phone? If yes, then go ahead and do it via root explorer.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app

It Worked!!!
thank you very much - all help really appreciated!
I restored the systemui.apk and restarted phone - it didnt work
but then I restored systemui.odex - that time i noticed that the permissions were not right for the systemui.apk file
i changed the permissions and now everything works fine
hope this helps anyone who gets such a problem

Glad I could help!

Could be a number of things
1) wrong script for cwm(believe everyone above 3 needs editify script
2) not the correct location for the rom your running
3) the one your try to flash may not be flashable
4) could be made for a different phone(if you followed links to get that is)
5) not named correctly for your rom inside the zip
So after all that lets try this
1) what rom are you using
2)what bootanimation are you trying to flash
Give us those and i'm sure someone on here can help you get the one you want on the rom your running.
Tapa away from a galaxy far away
I use root explorer to move bootanimation.zip to system/media, but depends on the rom
Not running any Rom I am rooted and clockwork installed...I can't find any good roms that work perfect like 100% and I like my HTC sense.

So i tried this... rly cool thing. I backed up my ROM, then wiped and restored again. I didnt mean to do do it i was just testing another ROM nvm, but when I got back to CM after some wipes the rom is a lot smoother now. Now im not sure if anything is different since I restored the ROM after some superwipes, but its smoother for sure.

It erases data that recovery just says is writeable. That's all it does. Compared to just allowing it to be over written it allows 0s to be written in place

So is this run in recovery?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S using XDA
does it wipe SD card also (FAT partition)?
EDIT: just tried it, it does not affect non-system related SD card contents
Yes its a flashable zip

This is something like factory reset or it remove whole ROM from phone and I will have to flash ROM again ?
It will remove the whole ROM and everything on it so yes you would have to re flash your ROM

I did this from the stock deodexed rom and I don't see the mms app installed after reboot. I'm on 100%stock rom but I used a deodexed version is that why? My computer broke and my backup of stock is on it and not on my phone. I could try to fix it but so far nothing is working so my backup as far as I'm concerned is gone. Any ideas?

Really? That's not a fix; it's not even advice. You're just suggesting he give up and start over. He just made a bad build.prop edit. All he has to do is undo the changes he made via ADB and reboot. It's Android tweaking 101.

i forgot i wipe and system , is recomand reflash rom in my situation ?
If you already wiped. Then yes reflash the rom.
For your knowledge, for next time make a nandroid backup before making any major modding.

Aside from the ADB fix for those who failed to do a nandroid backup, this is the best advice so far. Recovery is your friend. ALWAYS DO A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE TWEAKING!!

Yeah, take a Nandroid, if you can't at least backup your build.prop dude. Never change it unless it's absolutely necessary.
'Swyped' from my GT-N7100
Odd question for a somewhat noob
So ya I have had the SGS3 T-Mo google wallet hack by editing the build.prop for a while, works great! Today I went to to put the copied original build.prop back into system and renamed edited/hacked one to _build.prop, but it got stuck at Samsung logo at boot. Recovery & Download mode OK. I had a CWM backup from a month ago, I know I should have done a backup up & at least weekly while developing apps, but i have now recovered back to the old one, and man it's old.
What i am looking for is can I can I go and edit/replace the build.prop in a CWM backup? Or push it through ADB in Recovery mode?
Note:
I did try using ADB while in CWM, but phone did not get recognized in ADB, needed phone back, so just recovered last month old backup for now. If I can recover the looped backup, and get ADB to recognize device, then i know I can just push it to the folder, but will ADB work in CWM recovery mode? Never done much ADB in recovery or DL mode.

Sorry i just realized i posted in the wrong forum. Didn't realize this was Note until after post, my bad, sorry

[Q] Stuck on boot loop

Hi guys,
New to this forum so apologies if this isn't posted in the right place.
Just need a bit of help if anyone has time..
I've been using CyanogenMod for quite a while on my HTC One X and initially didn't have any problems. A few weeks ago the phone started to randomly reboot & music would just stop playing when it felt like it. I went to update to a few of the nightlies but I kept getting stuck on the boot logo so I went back to the initial CM rom I had been using.
Today I decided to be adventurise and try out a different rom altogether. Wiped everything, and went to install from SD only to be landed with the same problem with the new rom, stuck on logo. Now when I go back to try install the inital CM rom it's having the same problem. I can't seem to get it working at all. I'm using Clockwork Recovery so I also can't seem to mount the storage to put the boot.img onto the phone itself.
Apologies for the length of the post, I'm at my wits end
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
