So i tried this... rly cool thing. I backed up my ROM, then wiped and restored again. I didnt mean to do do it i was just testing another ROM nvm, but when I got back to CM after some wipes the rom is a lot smoother now. Now im not sure if anything is different since I restored the ROM after some superwipes, but its smoother for sure.

It erases data that recovery just says is writeable. That's all it does. Compared to just allowing it to be over written it allows 0s to be written in place
Sent from my HTC_A510c using Tapatalk
So is this run in recovery?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S using XDA
does it wipe SD card also (FAT partition)?
EDIT: just tried it, it does not affect non-system related SD card contents
Yes its a flashable zip

This is something like factory reset or it remove whole ROM from phone and I will have to flash ROM again ?
It will remove the whole ROM and everything on it so yes you would have to re flash your ROM

It is live and supported. Touch recovery will not happen from koush. He will not support mdpi devices, but I know someone else that will. And that will be coming shortly
I got it. Heck yeah touch recovery.
Already done backup
Seems a little glitchy. When using go back option sometimes just shows cwm emblem. Had to pull battery. I'm impatient. Think I waited long enough.

He was saying that to my comment about one in the works. But I do have a completely unsupported touch recovery by koush if people want it. It is sized in ldpi so its huge on the screen. My opinion it looks like crap.

I got the official cwm recovery. Flashed it through the clockworkmod app. It seemed glitchy at first, but after a couple of reboots everything is fine. I wish I had touch recovery can't wait to try that

yes, but it is oversized. He will not support it or anything else. I didn't know he actually posted it. I was just about to post the same version. Also, ADB is broken in recovery with that.
Also would like to note jmz has his roms on there as do i. Its a good, central location now

Point taken. Hosting Roms like my team does makes it a lot easier. Just a build.prop line away. Probably won't use it unless asked though

That's wierd. I am using that recovery and have flashed many many zips. Like at 10 a day. Can you do me a favor? Flash it again and try to repeat it. When it locks up again, run this command.

ive noticed when i try to reboot with adb it will reboot into recovery. If i wanted that I would of typed adb reboot recovery this a feature or a bug. Also when I turn on USB Mass Storage, it will corrupt what i send over, leading me back to adb. I basically use adb for everything but selecting the zip on recovery, no matter how good. Great work on it Jmz, its a pretty solid recovery, touch buttons work, and the kernel inside is also a great aosp kernel. Actually starts off overclocked, if im correct.

It is weird. I just wiped data and cache partition like I normally do when flashing rom's. Chose install zip and it said finding, then opening. I got it to installing once, but it would reboot stuck on splash screen. I need my phone pretty bad, so I loaded alquez on my sdcard and flashed it. Real comfy now
Not much experience, so should I do this via usb and computer or terminal emulator. TE says adb command not found

SORRY man cant do that. I worked really hard to earn this cell phone and wont let it go for free. I bought it for a full price off the contract and don't think will be donating it. I am pretty sure people will be able to help me here. Its not like the phone is dead. Its working except for a few disruptions. Besides people are offering me $450 even in such a condition.
Can anyone give me the link to do a clean install? I know I have to put whats on my sd card to my computer, then do I wipe everything through recovery? Then do I just put the rom I have on my desktop in my sd card? Flash & reboot? Oh and does this process remove my recovery? Just want to make sure. And before you ask, I am doing this because I just have way to much stuff on this phone, & its time to wash my evo!
Please let me know soon! Thanks guys!

Are you asking how to flash a custom rom?
sent from my DeRpY SuPeRsOnIc
To flash a custom rom u don't need to wipe ur SD card put the rom on the root of your SD card(in no folders) go into recovery do a nandroid backup ,go into wipe and wipe data(factory data reset which doesn't wipe root nor your SD card)
Then wipe divlka or something like that. Its a cache and wipe cache. They are different stuff then go into flash zip menu and click pick file to flash or something like that (depends on your recovery) then wait til its done then reboot.

lol, not always but I try....
This rom is a port from the note 2 ota update. It is a stock touchwiz based rom that is a work in progress. I need testers who will give positive feedback and ideas for updates. This rom has not yet been debloated. As this rom gets tested and I figure out which apps is and which apps is not used in multiwindow I will start to debloat on future updates. This is my first rom and as of right now it is working on my AT&T galaxy s3. If you are with another carrier and try this rom and it works please leave comments saying what carrier you are with. This is a test version so im sure we will find things that dont work if so let me know and ill work on a patch or update to fix any problems. I dont mind answering any questions but please read the thread all the way thru. Its a waste of time to keep answering the same questions over and over...
Flash at your own risk. I am not responsible for bricked phones, damaged phones, thermo neuclear melt down, inner planetary war, the economy, or a melt down of society....
Install instructions.... please read and follow step by step. If you do not follow directions to the letter then do not complain to me if your phone explodes, acts funny, or becomes a paperweight..
1. Download and copy the rom to your sd card.
2. Boot into recovery. I strongly recommend using TWRP especially if your sd card is in exfat format. Here is the link to the thread on XDA for the only version of TWRP to support exfat. The official TWRP on goo im will NOT support exfat on this version will. No version of CWM for the S3 will support exfat. I have read cases where both CWM and the official TWRP have recognized exfat cards but really screwed the flash up when attempted. So if you have exfat sd card and do not use the version below and end up with a bricked phone do not cry to me. It only takes a few minutes to download and flash the zip file in the thread below. Also the work in the thread below I take no credit for so go hit up
Eaglerazor123's thanks button for his fine work with this great recovery. ..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36095505
3. Dont be foolish or in a hurry. Take time to make a backup while you in recovery anyway. It only takes a couple of minutes and could really save you a great big headache later...
4.Format system, wipe data, (factory reset) wipe cache, then dalvick cache.. never ever dirty flash a phone. If you do not wipe everything do not cry to me when your phone dont work..
5. Flash the file you downloaded to your sd card.
6. Reboot. First boot will take some time so dont panic. Mine first boot took 5 minutes.
7. Enjoy...
Features..... this list will change as I update the rom..
1. Port from the note 2 ota update.

From the search I just did this is a common problem with cwm on the s3. Error 6 means something is going on with your sd card. Did you download to external or internal sd? And is your external sd card formatted in exfat? If so cwm does not handle exfat. There is a version of twrp that can handle exfat and it is what I used to flash this. I hope someone using twrp tries this that way ill know if I got an upload problem or if its a cwm thing. Oh is your version of cwm the latest version and is it touch? I really feel this is a cwm problem or a bad upload. Did you happen to check the md5?

I'll try this out as well and get back to you. The more stock the better.. I'll keep a close eye on this one.
I'm the type that likes to ALWAYS do a clean Rom install by wiping EVERYTHING. I've tried looking through the forums but cannot find a decent answer as to why my Virgin Mobile One V fails to perform a full factory reset immediately after swiping to confirm. All that displays is "make_extf4fs" and "FAILED" highlighted in red at the top of the screen. I tried every troubleshooting step recommended to me but still nothing seems to fix this issue and without a solution I cannot do a clean install of my roms that I normally do. What should I do? If anyone has a reliable solution please do help me out. I would greatly appreciate it.

It has been brought up in a thread here and I've been told not to worry about it and that it wont affect anything but in my opinion it does so i found a full wipe flashable zip that i use along with the other wipes. Let me know if u want and ill upload it and u can have it
Sent from my One V using Xparent ICS Tapatalk 2
It does affect because after it continued to fail I attempted to flash my Rom anyways and all it did was constantly reboot my phone so I had no choice but to go back to stock and reboot but am stuck with the same TWRP issue so if you can provide me with a wipe flashable zip that will do the same wipe procedure please do. Thank you very much.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Read the log on the screen. It is trying to wipe an sd-ext partition. If you haven't partitioned your SD card, then it will give you that error. It is still performing a full wipe of the other partitions.
Sorry if this is a noob question but this is my first time experiencing this issue so how exactly would I check to see if the sd card is partitioned? I assumed it would automatically be that way after flashing the recovery. It's always been that way up until now.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
It's looking for a second ext partition on your card. This is used by various app2sd scripts (such as link2sd) to fool the phone into thinking the apps are installed on internal phone memory instead the normal android way. If you haven't partitioned it yourself, then don't worry about the error message. It's just letting you know it didn't find the second partition.
Oh OK so besides that a full factory reset is still being made? Because I thought that was the cause of my roms not working properly.

I've been usingTWRP since I got this phone, about 7 months, and have never had an issue with wiping or installing roms.
