Push notifications stop on Facebook app after switching ROMs - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I'm having a problem restoring my push notifications on the Facebook app when I switch between ROMs on my GS3.
I have Paranoid Android installed now, and I previously had the latest AOKP build. I backed up the AOKP build via the recovery, then flashed PA, restored apps from Titanium, and here I am. But.. no Facebook notifications! I tried logging out and back into the FB app to "reregister" the device with the Google Cloud Messaging service or whatever, in order to hopefully restore the notifications, but no dice! I also disabled and re-enabled notifications within the FB app.
Strange thing is if I restore my AOKP backup, then I get flooded with all of the old notifications from FB!
Other apps seem to work fine for push notifications -- Gmail, WhatsApp, Google Voice, even Facebook Messenger. It's just the app itself doesn't seem to like to notify me unless I go back to AOKP.
Anybody experience anything like this?

It's happened to me before, did you dirty flash? I went from one rom to another without a factory reset by accident, usually do it. But most everything worked fine except for the facebook app messages so I ended up just uninstalling and reinstalling the facebook app and it worked! I eventually did factory reset my device though just incase there were other issues I hadn't yet come across.

Silly me... I just uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and that did the trick! I assumed logging out and back in was as good as uninstalling and reinstalling, but I guess not!
I did do a clean flash initially, with wiping everything.
Thanks for the idea!:good:

[Q] Gmail Sync Issues

Running CM9 and Franco kernel (tried many different nightlies) but my gmail won't sync automatically. It was working and then stopped. I have freshly installed CM9 and installed an older version of Franco kernel but still won't work. Is there anyone else experiencing this?

did you restore from TiBu?
yes but for the email I only restored the app and not the data
go into your accounts and sync and make sure the account is setup correctly to sync gmail.

That will work for messages waiting there but when I send myself a new message afterwards, again it won't show up.
(Just tried it again and same thing)
have you tried removing the account and readding it?
also, when it stopped working? did you flash the updated CM overtop of what you were already running?
I tried updating over and then a clean install. I'm going to do a clean install and not use Titanium at all this time. I though it might be a kernel or cm9 issue.
Having the same problem with my sprint gnex. Flip data off and then back on and it will sync right away. Have you ever noticed where you're using data and it suddenly stops working even though it says you have 3g still? Happens to me a lot. I use juice defender now to turn data off with the screen and on with the screen. It also turns data on every 15 minutes to check for email. Having that going on eliminated my Gmail sync issue since it is constantly resetting the data connection. Still sucks when data freezes in the middle of a video or a long Reddit news session.

What's really crazy is I restored my account from 2 weeks ago when sync was still working and guess what? Still won't work. Really frustrating!
I just had this same issue and these are the steps I did to fix it.
Turn google mail sync off and then back on
Closed all applications
Rebooted the device
Now email is coming in just fine on my Sam galaxy tab 2
Have you tried deleting data from the gmail app? Your mail is stored on the server, so you won't lose anything...
Same Problem
Having this same issue on my Sprint GNex now. I flashed the 4.2 Are You Jellin' mod last night and now Gmail won't auto sync. I restored apps from Titanium Backup. I've tried all the suggestions listed in this thread with no change. I'm also seeing a sync error message on the google account setting screen. Manual sync does work. Any ideas?
I seem to have figured out the problem, for me at least. I flashed a new ROM that included GApps then restored from Titanium Backup. I restored missing apps and system data. I had problems with most of the Google apps syncing and was receiving a sync error message. I tried reflashing the ROM and restoring again with the same result. I did a factory wipe and then restored just missing apps from Titanium Backup and select system data (my SMS/MMS) and everything works fine.
Both times Gmail was not included in the missing apps restore through Titanium and broke when I restored system data. It's been working for over 24 hours now. The other apps that weren't syncing properly are now working too (wallet, contacts, calendar)

Push notifications broken in .423

I did a clean install of .423 using the C6506 FTF, and now I can't get my Facebook and Tweetings push notifications to work. They are enabled, and I'm using the titanium backup settings that used to work before reinstalling the OS. They have always worked before.
Gmail, Instagram, Whatsapp and my Exchange account work properly, but I don't know why the other two don't work. Not sure if they use different push methods, but I know Tweetings uses C2DM and I think Whatsapp uses something a little different. Instagram must be using C2DM.
Anyone have any suggestions on what to check?
edit: Hmm I just noticed Hangouts notifications are also broken

I also got this bug with Twitter and Facebook (and possibly Foursquare and Instagram, but I'm not sure cause I don't have so many notifications on those apps...) push notifications when I restore those apps+data with TB. The only way around is to restore only the apps without restoring their data. This bug is present on the latests TB versions but it's not new... too bad they didn't crush it...

Hangouts suddenly not working.

Hey guys, about two weeks ago I was wondering why my mom hadn't called (we use Hangouts) and I thought it was weird. It was only until she called my cell phone that I realized that Hangouts wasn't working at all (even though it was open in the background).
I always used to get the call sound and the notification tray flashed saying that I was getting a video call. Same thing for messages (not SMS), even if I hadn't opened Hangouts all day at all, I would still receive SMS and video call invites. I accidentally Greenified Google Voice (since you can't Greenify Hangouts) and I thought that might be the culprit, so I degreenified it, and restarted my phone. That didn't work. I also Disabled a whole bunch of useless apks (or so I thought) with NoBloat and I'm pretty sure it was around this time that Hangouts stopped working and incidentally also any alarm app that I tried to use (I have to use stock alarm now). I re-enabled all of the disabled apks, and restarted my phone once again. This also did not work.
I have also posted on the official Google Hangouts Help forum about this issue. I have gone back on any changes I made that might have caused this issue. Google Voice is not greenified anymore, and I don't have ANY apks disabled at all. I even turned ChatOn back on thinking that maybe that was why.
Here is a list of things that I have already done that I have found on other forums:
Clear cache/data of Hangouts and Google Voice
Make sure Show Notifications is checked (it is).
I have uninstalled Hangouts updates, and reinstalled them.
I have restarted my phone numerous times.
I've shut off my laptop, tablets, and desktop so it would HAVE to go through my phone. It didn't.
"Whitelisted" Google Voice and Hangouts on any application that could possibly be closing it.
I have a SG S3 SGH-T999 T-Mobile (Unlocked) with baseband version T999UVUENC2. I don't remember how exactly I rooted my phone but I just know it's rooted. I'm on 4.3 and I have been for ages. It kind of feels like, even if I physically open Hangouts it's hard for any application to recognize that's it's running in the background, and in fact, some applications don't recognize it at all even if I just opened Hangouts.
I swear that every single apk I disabled was inconsequential, I disabled them off all those lists floating around for the S3 that say what that specific apk does, and if it's save to remove it. I didn't touch the red "nono" apks at all. The guy from Google just told me that Google Voice has nothing to do with Hangouts, so the fact that I Greenified Google Voice has nothing to do with Hangouts and wouldn't cause problems. I've tried everything the guy has told me to try but nothing has worked so far. Every other app is fine, there are no problems, besides Hangouts and any alarm app I install.
I don't know what's wrong, does anyone have a similar problem?
Thanks.
Try clearing data for all Google apps, especially GMS ones and gmail. Then reboot and set everything back up. If that doesn't help, back up all important data, including your internal SD. Then factory reset.

android.process.acore has stopped

I have a Verizon LG G3 running stock/rooted 4.4.2.
Today, for the 2nd time, I started receiving the unfortunately, the android.process.acore has stopped error It pretty much just constantly pops up, non stop.
Last time a few months back, I fixed it with a factory reset (annoying).
Today, it started again. I tried clearing contacts and contacts storage and google service framework, but none of that helped.
Wound up doing another factory reset.
This time, it was working fine until I added an exchange account to sync calendar and email and then I started getting the error again. I don't think that was the trigger though because of what else I figured out.
It appears as if I uninstall facebook, the error goes away. I tried uninstalling facebook, clearing contacts and contacts storage and then reinstalling, but it starts again once it gets reinstalled.
I've done this back and forth enough times now that it's clearly being caused by the facebook install. It starts as soon as I log into facebook after I install it.
I guess at least it's nice to know I can uninstall facebook and I'm good, but I want to use the facebook app still.
So now what?
I have the same problem but it's with WeChat.
Here's something you can try.
I went into Phone --> Settings and select only to display contacts from Gmail. It stopped error.

Stock messages app not showing notifications with Android Auto

Does anyone have any ideas? Hangouts show notifications while driving. So did Android Messages app. But not the stock LG Messaging app.
Had repeated problems with Android Auto (TMO G7 Thinq on Ford Sync3 v2.3) not showing notifications or playing notification sound when receiving a text on any of several texting apps.
I tried everything I could think of: cleared data, cache, uninstalled, reinstalled from Play Store then direct from apk, I tried reverting to an older AA version, I tried different messaging apps, tried resetting app permissions, resetting notification settings, blah blah...
Finally, I gave in and decided to try a full phone factory reset, then a restore back to my oldest backup. This does seem to have worked. I'm using Textra Pro now and it's been fine for a couple of weeks, but I will edit if that changes
If you don't have any good backups, you may have to factory reset, but that's your call....and that still may not fix the AA notification thing for you. Wow, that's all I can think to try. Good luck!
