Is T-mobile blocking internet on phones.? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Something weird has happen to me,i got the new unlimited plan which has no real limitations, and i find out that when i want to open facebook from the web browser it hangs, takes for ever and gives me an error.
I restart the phone and open it again and it work, but as soon as i want to see a link or something on facebook it stagnate again, yet the facebook app doesn't do that..
Well i found something interesting, when i use wifi the browser works well and let me load anything facebook related over the browser, but when i change to T-mobile the browser does the same again..
Also i got this galaxy s 2 like 3 months ago,the first month it worked like a dream, and i was able to download 10GB first month, but after half into the second month the data started to go away for long times, something a complete day without even edge.
That is another thing the phone has 4 bars,4g signal but the data wont work many times, also call will not go out or just plain drop when i am dialing.
I live in Puerto Rico,i am running Allstart jelly bean, but the problems started before i rooted and modded my phone,so i don't think the rom is to blame,i think T-mobile is actually jamming my phone from using data some how..

Tethering with NFSFAN's ROM's and Bell's Unlimited Mobile Browser

Hi everyone,
What is the story on tethering the HTC Touch with NFSFAN's latest WM6.5 ROM? I heard there was a patch that prevented Bell from realizing it was tethered data usage? Can anyone confirm?

It works just fine, and has for me in every ROM version out there.
Just remember it is called "unlimited mobile browser"......not unlimited data. There is a difference. I use mine when internet is not available and I want to use my laptop instead of the phone to browse XDA, etc. I wouldn't tether and start downloading torrents or songs from limewire etc. That kind of "data" would probably raise a flag. Can you think of any browsing on your phone + gps use (say...google maps) + titanium / m2d weather etc that would use 200mb in an hour????? Probably not, so I use it for browsing, not downloading.
I believe there is a screenshot available on page 1 of NFSFAN's ROM thread.

I was under the impression that there was a “special” way that Bell could tell that you were tethering under the official ROM. I thought there was a “hack” that removed this so that Bell could not tell (except perhaps by shear volume) if you were tethered or not.
How “safe” is it to use it for casual (ie. web browsing, email) internet usage? Am I going to get dinged with a huge bill?
Or, is there no such “special way” that Bell could tell even if I was still using the official ROM?

They can't tell your tethered, it is safe for casual browsing.
I was just warning you about the "sheer volume". You think it would be common sense not to tether and then download movies but you know some people.
I use it once in a blue moon just for browsing, and never was charged any extra, but i use a WDM rom, as long as no one abuses it we should be fine.
Torrents away!
I have pushed over 14 gigs a month on telus using my vogue as a tether, faster than my rogers lite! Have been doing this since Rev A in Sept 08.
Yup, they won't find out if no one goes and uses more than 4 GB in a month (Sprint)

Like others said, it's safe!
I've used multiple NFSFAN ROMs over the past year + on my Bell Touch, and have never run into tether charges. One month I did about 8GB of data tethered to my Acer Aspire One while travelling out of province, and no overage at all.
Just woundering something:
And how exactly do you "tether"?

Connect your phone to your (generally) laptop and wait for a pop up on the phone to ask whether you want to share it's internet connection to the PC.
That's all there is to it, at least with NFSFANs ROM.

Nice! Thanks!
everytime i connect using internet sharing it disconnects seconds later, any ideas or fixes on this
anyone know how to tether with bluetooth os osx 10.5?
i can pair the phone for things like the sailing clicker remote but bluetooth pan wont work and i think ftp stopped working aswell any ideas?
as for using data on there pamphlets they at least used to mention downloading and streaming things like videos, messaging
so i asked at a bell store about the data stuff i could use and i asked about torrenting and showed WMtorrent and they said as long as i followed the abuse policy anything is fine they even noted it on my account
so if torrenting a say 1gb file on the phone is fine and tethering looks as if the data originated on the phone
whats the difference if the torrent was tethered or from the phone its self
currently this month ive used 4.38gb of data and no issues ive done above 6 before though
I use wifirouter to tether with since my internet sharing doesnt seem to want to stay connected for no more than 5 minutes and i play world of warcraft everyday using my vogue for internet and i have used as much as 10 gigs of bandwith and never got charged thru sprint as long as you have the unlimited data on your service plan, which i have the unlimited everything plan with sprint, been doing this for about 3 years now and never once got charged.
I have been tethering the Vogue now for over a year. Streaming, DLing firmwares, upgraded client blackberries, downloaded tunes. Basically done what ever I want. BUT Not often. once or ywice a week.
LOL, as a point though. I do use it for internet radio (resco) for HOURS at a time on device (& up to 9GB/month). so if they ever had an issue, I'd just blame it on that.
Ironically my bill only shows about 10MB of usage!
Im also having trouble like DWC316 my connection shows it is good, but I still cant get any web pages to load Im on sprint and I did have some issues getting my data connection with nfsfans v14 but now it works great on the phone but not on the laptop when I tether...any Ideas?

Data problems - Please help

I have been having some major problems with my EVO regarding the data. If I use anything that is on the heavy side of bandwidth, like downloading a file from android marketplace, surfing the web, watching sprint tv, using the GPS, etc...the data will just time out for about 3 min at a time. For instance if I am downloading a 5mb app from android marketplace, it will maybe download a megabyte, then it will just stop downloading. If you look at the 3G symbol at the top, it will be white, but only the upstream indicator will be on. I can then open any other internet application on the phone, and nothing will work. It usually lasts for about 3 minutes at a time and happens fairly regularly. It will end up taking me 15-20 min to download a 5mb file from the marketplace. Same thing if I browse a bandwidth heavy site like digg.com. It will just time out after a while and it will just show the upstream indicator as solid and not do anything in any program.
This problem is not location dependent. I have this issue at my apartment, at work, at my friend's house, at the Sprint store...anywhere.
In chronological order, this is what I have done to troubleshoot/fix the problem:
First noticed problem
Turned off phone/Turned back on
Rooted and installed custom version of 2.1 w/ Sense
Removed battery (power cycle)
Talk to Sprint cust care. They sent signal over that reactivated the phone (2x)
Did factory reset on phone and formatted SD card
Swapped phone at Sprint store with new one
So even after swapping my EVO with a new EVO from the Sprint store and not fooling with the phone at all, I am still having the same exact issue.
I am absolutely at wit's end with this and I have no idea what to do at this point.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Does this happen over wifi too, or only 3g?
------------------------------------------
This post brought to you by my EVO 4G, by XDA-Tapatalk, and by Swype.
Thats a good question. I dont have a wifi connection to try it on at home because I keep my wifi on 5ghz N. I will take it to a friend's house and try.
yeah good luck testing it with WIFI. I'd say my WIFI is about 10 times less reliable than 3G.
I have not been able to test with Wifi yet, but I just had one of my coworkers that has the same phone to replicate the issue on his phone. He is having the same exact problem.
We set our phones next to each other and downloaded Space Buster 3D Lite off the Android Marketplace. Mine crapped out about 2mb in and so did his. He wasnt able to surf or do anything else on his phone for a few minutes just like mine.
I'm wondering if this a network problem in our area or if there is a problem with the phone.
Also, I downloaded a continuous ping program and did 3,000 pings with no packet loss, so it seems to only happen with heavy data usage ie. saturating your bandwidth.
Either way, it makes me feel a lot better to see this problem happening with other people lol
dude... i was just about to post a thread on this. im tearing my hair out with this horrible horrible problem. tmobile was better and more consistent its ridiculous...
i'm having the exact same problems, and not only just this, but i'm sending and receiving texts hours and hours off... its just not instant. wheerever i am. and sometimes i'm sending a text and this data "blackout" happens. also when i'm receiving texts i can't send texts out at the same time.. the phone gives me sms errors and then the data timeouts for minutes.. i have to wait minutes to resend the texts or use data..
Well it turns out that my friend that got this phone too is having the same exact problem......
WTF is going on here? Can people test this on their phones? Just try downloading a large file (5mb+) off android marketplace 2-3 times and watch the download. See if it stops or says download paused. Then try surfing the web when this happens.
Including myself, thats 3/3 people that are having this problem that I know personally.

I have no issues downloading large files, maybe it is location based?
It appears the OTA update that was released today fixed the problem. I've been running Sprint TV for about 4 hours with no issues. Thank god...I was about to cancel my service over this.

hello there I'm having problems with my 3G data connection on ICS

I'm wondering is any one ells having this problem some times initially I get a connection error message when I sign into Google play but then it works and pictures in some apps don't show and some apps don't work right away's I have to keep loading them but when I'm under WiFi every thing works fine and of course I never had this or any problems on GB even Game pad support is ruined on 4.0

[Q] Need help with wifi

So here is whats going on I was on Parandroid and it was fine but I noticed I had only about 60 megs of ram as a normal thing. I figured its either the rom or I have way to much crap on my phone so I did a complete wipe and returned to stock. Then I started to reinstall only apps that I needed or liked and basically got rid of the junk. and everything was going fine . Then i noticed that I was loosing my internet butit wass still saying it was connected to my network. So I figured that I got a bad upgrade from verizon so I flashed AOKP build 6 and I am having the same problems. So I called cox and asked is I was having problems and while I was on the phone with them it worked perfect untill about 2 min. after I got off the phone with them it stopped again. I need help to figure if it is my provider or something with my phone.
Heres the basic:
After I reeboot it connects fine and everything is normal. When I start downloading something from play store or podcaster it starts and can go for 5 megs or 80 megs but then just stops . It still shows its connected but absolutely no internet. I can shut on and off the wifi and it will start up again but stop again once I start downloading. Now if I come off of wifi and use 3g it works just fine and no shut down. So I am mcurios if its Cox or something to do with me wifi adapter.
Thanks for any help guys
Have u flashed the new Verizonx4.2.2 WiFi drivers/gps ....should help

[Q] Mobile Data not working on CM11..

I am kind of new to the Android world (about 3 months) and about 2 days ago, one of my friends told me that getting CyanogenMod11 is the coolest thing ever, so I went over to his house and he rooted my phone, then he installed CyanogenMod11 via the new installer. I have the Galaxy S3 AT&T and everything was going good. When I was walking home, I turned on my Mobile Data in Settings>Data Usage and when I went into the Google Chrome app, it said "You are offline." I went into many other apps that require internet connection for example, I went into Instagram and it says "Couldn't refresh feed." I got home and I logged into my wifi and then Chrome and the other applications needing internet connection worked again, I went back outside far enough to where I get disconnected from my wifi and then I turned my mobile data on just to find that it did not work. [Note : Before I left his house, I went into Tumblr and my phone froze then it rebooted. When it turned back on, I was getting all of these messages appearing on my screen saying, "Unfortunately com.google.gaaps (or something like that) has stopped working." I got a few of these messages all relating to Google applications like on YouTube the app would close when I opened it. I rebooted my phone and that seemed to fix this problem.] I need to know whether I should look for a way to get my phone back to stock or if there is a fix to my problem.

I cannot seem to find a tutorial on how to flash a modem onto my ATT Galaxy S3 and I have pretty much given up on searching for one unless you can supply me with directions on how to do so. I appreciate your help and sorry for being a "noob" at rooting, modding, flashing, and Android overall.
EDIT-- I found out how to flash a modem onto my device and it did not fix my problem, I now have resulted in looking for a way to get back to stock and forget about rooting, modding, flashing, and just sticking to the stock Android and accepting how it is..
