Memory Full Cannot Update? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

My Note 2 is rooted, when i try to download a OTA update i get a message saying Memory Full Cannot Update? I have over 10GB of internal storage or is it referring to primary memory? If so how do i free up some space, in thinking killing some processes.

You cant download when rooted.it will give you errors like that. But there is a work around... search for file called update.zip.
Copy to /cache folder get into recovery mode then pick flash from cache option .. this will install ota. You will lose root but can root back again using exploit...I will post link with more details on a few minutes

This link has more details on how to install ota without loosing your data. It compl3m3nts my pr3vious post.
Again, you will lose root but you can easily get it back in 5 seconds by installing exynos app and click root buton. It is easier and faster than trying to get it from att and dealing with auto update. Let us know if it worked.

One more thing...when copiying the update to cache folder if you get a cache full error you boot again into recovery mode and select clear cache. No risk and this will solve that problem , assuming it happens to you.it happened to me once.

[Q] Imperium Initiative v1.0.0 Installation

I'm trying to install Imperium Initiative V1.0.0. I wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, factory reset, and reboot. How long should the phone take to reboot after following this process? I've waited 10 to 15 minutes and the phone doesn't boot.

No, I'm not bricked. I can still boot into recovery (CWM) and reinstall my old rom. I'm just finding out should it take this long to install or am I just being impatient.
Well from reading the steps that you took not once did you mention you actually flash the ROM
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda premium
In recovery:
Factory reset
Wipe System
Install
Reboot
Wipe/format system is not the same as a factory reset.
Everyone keeps wiping everything except for the most important one. SYSTEM. make sure you wipe system BEFORE you flash and then you wipe the cache after you flash.

The phone will boot in like 30 seconds. You just gotta wipe system before you flash

Wiping system is ROM Flashing 101. I'm surprised at how many folks are skipping this.

I'm new to this. Will wiping the system delete all of my music from my Internal SD Card? I don't see an option to wipe the system in CWM. What app can I use to complete this task?

Thanks! I figured out where it was located in CWM. It's under Mount and Storage (Format/System).

[Q] Best plan of attack here?

Some history on my device:
ATT SGH-i317
Android version: 4.1.2
Baseband Version: I317UCALJ2
Running CleanROM ACE 4.8.0
This morning when I woke up, my phone was frozen. No response at all, so I pulled the battery and rebooted it. When the device came back up, all my settings were gone, apps were failing left and right and it was almost unusable. So, I figured I'd try to flash Scott's newest ROM (previously running CleanROM 4.2.5) to see if that cleaned things up.
I was unable to wipe the caches correctly, TWRP tells me that it cannot mount /data and the davlik cache wipe fails. Doing a factory reset doesn't see to do anything either.
So, not wanting to make things worse, I'm turning to you fine folks for some guidance. What is the proper plan of attack here to get whole again?
Ultimately, I'd like to run CleanROM 4.8, be rooted, etc.
Any assistance you can provide would be appreciated.
U have a backup?
---------- Post added at 01:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:21 PM ----------
And about the twrp thing, just get the most recent one.
What version of TWRP do you have. They are at version 2.5.0.1 now. I'd update TWRP then rewipe cache, delvic cache, factory reset and system.
If possible back up data and then wipe data as well. Wipe them three times each. Make sure your download is good with an md5 check hopefully
they have the md5 posted

Just update two thru goo manger. Just as^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ stated! And hopefully you made a nandroid back. Thru TWRP, that way you could have just restored your back up!!

Ok, that is a solid suggestion. I am running twrp v2.3.1.1
I'll try upgrading that to see if the cache issues go away. Further, at this point I do have backups, but the ROMs creator suggests not using them. So I'm not sure if I will or not.

If you have a nandroid back up! From a previous version using TWRP. Then it won't ba problem you upgrading you recovery! To the latest version!!

Running CleanROM. He always states to run his ROMs cleanly, no backups.
Updating TWRP to the latest version has enabled me to clear everything and I am setting the phone back up now. Thank you all for your help! :good:
OP
The suggestion to not use backups is likely talking about backups from titanium backup etc.
Not about a full backup of the rom. Scott simply does not want data mixed from a previous build which can cause many issues.
A nandroid backup of your device at a time when the device is running properly, can and will save your bacon at some point in your flashing career.
The nandroid will allow restoration of the device partitions if they become corrupted as your device did.
While you may not know what caused the failure, a full wipe and restore using your clean nandroid backup would save you time and effort. Not to mention data you saved inside of the backup.
It is wise to back up everything, including the EFS folder and modem as well in TWRP.
I'm glad you are running again...and once your set up is completed....backup....IMHO.....g

Lol,you should've set the paths in twrp settings. No need for wiping). I had the same issue. I thought it was a bug in twrp.but the bug was in my head .

lost+found file struggle

Hey, guys. I posted here a while back that I've been having some major problems with my phone. It randomly reboots, does not properly wipe in recovery, will not properly install ROM's or recovery updates.
I think it all stems from me seeming to remember deleting a lost+found file that I thought was a dupe. Anyway, I assume that restoring the phone to factory is the only way to fix it, but I'm hoping somebody has another idea because I use a mac and Idk how to root it again if I have to do that.
Thank you for any help or suggestions.

I had the same issue until I formatted my internal storage. Make sure you back up everything from your internal storage first.

Not wipe. Format internal SD card. I think its from the advanced wipe settings. You will have to type the word "yes" to confirm

5.0 to 4.4

Hello all,
Is there a tutorial to downgrade from 5.0 to 4.4.
I am currently on ob7. I am wondering if there is a way to revert back to everytjing 4.4 In order to see if i can create a MIUI rom for the note 4 sprint version.
thank you
Download the ank2 tar n flash it Odin do a factory reset/erash storage first
I am about to do the same. So is the ank2 or ani(whatever) important to which we revert to? I ask because I've seen it around somewhere. Saying it will have issues. Also we must basically wipe internal storage data cache dalvik etc then reboot to dl mode correct?

Again I'm not sure what my phone released with. But that was what I read. Not to flash what it didn't ship with. Or to that effect.

i am confused,
1. how do i kn ow what the phone came with (sprint dude did his thing when i was at work then i picked it up and it was all setup).
2. how do we find out what it came with?
Setting then about device then scroll down to android version. is 4.4.x l, LP is 5.0.1
