5.0 to 4.4 - Sprint Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
Is there a tutorial to downgrade from 5.0 to 4.4.
I am currently on ob7. I am wondering if there is a way to revert back to everytjing 4.4 In order to see if i can create a MIUI rom for the note 4 sprint version.
thank you

Download the ank2 tar n flash it Odin do a factory reset/erash storage first

I am about to do the same. So is the ank2 or ani(whatever) important to which we revert to? I ask because I've seen it around somewhere. Saying it will have issues. Also we must basically wipe internal storage data cache dalvik etc then reboot to dl mode correct?

Again I'm not sure what my phone released with. But that was what I read. Not to flash what it didn't ship with. Or to that effect.

i am confused,
1. how do i kn ow what the phone came with (sprint dude did his thing when i was at work then i picked it up and it was all setup).

[Q] Couldn't install on USB storage or SD card after update to GB27

Hey everyone,
I recently updated to GB27 from GA10 and somehow Nova Prime and Swiftkey were removed from my phone. I visited the Play Store to reinstall them but I get the following error:
Error - Couldn't install on USB storage or SD card.
I'm getting along but it's been a pain in the butt. I've looked all over but can't find a solution. Some posts say to unmount the SD card and others suggest trying to delete a file named "smdl2tmp1" but unmounting the SD doesn't help and the named file doesn't exist. Does anyone have a fix for this? Please! I'm tired of the stock keyboard.
You need to flash a stock jb kernel back to your phone. There is issues with the repacks. until we get source always flash the stock kernel back.

I am just capable enough to do some damage, forgive me for this possibly stupid question...
Will flashing only a JB kernel wipe any data from my phone? I do this from the PDA section in Odin, is that correct?
Thanks by the way!
No should not wupe anything. Download stock zip and flash in recovery

Ok, so I'm having the same issues OP was having, but OP never mentioned whether or not he was rooted. Plus mine seems to be behaving a bit differently, so here goes:
I had flashed a GB27 rooted restore ROM to my phone that I found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191954. Prior to that I wiped and formatted both the USB storage and the SD Card and everything worked great. Yesterday, I used ROM Toolbox Pro to use the root browser to install Mobile Odin Lite so I could put AGAT trec_0.3.2 on the phone so I could do nandroid backups for security purposes. At this point both ROM Toolbox Pro and NOVA PRIME are installed with no issues. Checked phone a minute ago for a facebook update that woke me up and all of a sudden ROM Toolbox Pro is no longer installed, and neither is Nova Prime. It was just installed less than 24 hours ago and I didn't uninstall it. It still shows in the app drawer. Icons are still in place. But when you tap on them, it says "App isn't installed." I try to re-install from play store, and run into this issue. So not only am I having this issue, but apps that were previously installed are simply "disappearing" and then falling victim to this process. I can't find smdl2tmp1.asec anywhere on the phone with any root browser I download, and simply un-mounting and re-mounting the SD Card doesn't work. I can't un-mount or re-mount the USB Storage, only format. Haven't tried this yet. Rebooting the phone doesn't work. Cleared the Delvik Cache and system cache to no avail. Even tried fixing permissions in the AGAT recovery menu and still nothing. Oh, and it seems to only be affecting the apps I've purchased, none of the free apps on my phone seem to be affected in any way...
I don't quite know which kernel to flash and if there is a rooted stock kernel I can install with Mobile Odin Lite... Links and help would be appreciated, because I've been scouring the web for an hour to find a fix and nothing is working. T_T
I found the kernel in zip form here. You can find it through the forums on this site but the link I am posting is a few pages deep so you don't have to go looking. Anyway, just place the zip on the SD card, reboot into recovery, flash the zip, and reboot the phone. This worked for me and it was like a breath of fresh air after being choked for a week. Good luck!

Ok, so maybe you can answer another question I have that is a bit off of the topic, but:
I just found a setting in the Data Programming mode (##3282#) under the advanced section that states: "LTE Status: LTE: <not set>." What is that about? I thought the phone was WiMax only...?
No idea what it means. It is probably left over files or settings. This phone is WiMax only so those settings will either do nothing or if changed, will mess up your phone.

So I found out what caused my issues with being unable to install to USB Storage or SD Card. I flashed AGAT_GB27_repack.tar to my device so I could do those nandroid backups... and that has to be what caused the issues because after flashing a stock GB27 kernel to the device it wiped my AGAT recovery tREC_v0.3.2 back to stock recovery... and now the device is functioning perfectly. Could you possibly link me to a kernel that comes built in with some custom recovery so that I can have something like CWM or AGAT, and one that's functioning perfectly by chance? FML. >.>'

[Q] Help with fixing a dead phone?

So i have an OGP AT&T E980. Rooted awhile back with no problems. Last night, I tried flashing my first ever ROM (beanstalk 4.3 unofficial in the OGP forum). Silly noob me didn't make an image of the stock rom before I flashed Beanstalk. Got to beanstalk fine but didn't like it so i tried recovery mode to go back to stock. No go. Now I'm stuck in bootloop/pulsing LED with
Secure Booting Error
Cause: Device UnLock, so boot success!!
I can get into CWM-based recovery v6.0.3.7 and I've wiped data/factory reset, cache partition, and davlink cache several times and still in bootloop. I've also entered download mode but it doesn't give me the option to download anything. And I've done hard factory resets to no avail.
I have the stock ROM downloaded on my mac (only computer available to me) but android file transfer doesn't register that the phone is plugged in. If I could get it at least back onto Beanstalk, I'm sure I could put the stock ROM on and flash it then.
Does my logic seem right and can anyone point me in the right direction? Any help would be greatly appreciated

OKAY I GOT IT.
So what happened was that when I hard reset, it deleted the Bean Stalk ROM and I didn't have anything to go back to since I didn't make a backup of the initial stock ROM. It was purgatory for my OGP lol. So I had to find a ROM backup (in my case I used the debloated stock ROM) and put it on an external SD card. Then restore from backup and boom goes the dynamite.
Thanks for your help!
Always keep a backup of at least one ROM to revert to at anytime.

[Q] Softbricked my phone after TWRP data format...

Hey there guys, long time lurker, first time poster.
I've had a flashed ls970 for a while now, on spleef's 10/28 Carbon build. I was noticing my sd card was constantly full and logcat wasn't the issue, so I decided to format my data via TWRP. I then attempted to flash the current CM11 nightly (1/2) and had it fail on me. After that didn't work, I cleared my cache, dalvik, and data and flashed CM10.2. It worked fine, I got it to work and everything was right with the world. I rebooted it via CM's power menu to have the LG logo pop up and then a blank screen.
As of right now, my phone will ONLY work if I keep it on. If I turn it off, it softbricks. I have to format data, factory reset, etc etc. and the only rom that seems to flash at all is CM10.2. I've tried the stock rom, the Carbon 10/28 build, the CM11 nightly (and the proper gapps) and they all fail. I've tried via adb sideload and have tried via TWRP after an adb push. Last night, I used LGNPST to get teenybin on and got TWRP 2.6.0.0... still, no rom's would flash.
Like I said, if I turn my phone off, the only course of action that enables me to use the phone is by formatting my data, wiping everything except the internal memory (which I know not to do), and reflashing CM10.2 + pa's gapps for 4.3. No other rom's will flash onto the phone. What do you guys think I can do?

I'll look for some kernel's now and see if that makes any difference. My CPU's min is set to the lowest setting, 384000.
When you flashed CM 11 you needed to use the KK 2.6.3.0. You can find it in the root guide and the TWRP thread. The TWRP in teeny bins is the wrong one for 4.3 and up.
LGNPST teeny bins, flash the kk TWRP and install clean.
BTW any twrp backup prior to the new 2.6.3.0 will fail when you restore it.

Are you also wiping /system? I think that's what's causing that error.
And your sure you're using the KK 2.6.3.0? The one from Shel's codefire DL and octhropes links are flashable zips.
You may want to just go back to stock, make sure it works, then do CM/AOSP. There's a stock rooted zip in development.

Yeah, I just retried it wiping /system and still failed. On the top of the recovery, it says "Team Win Recovery Project v2.6.3.0," which I got the .img from the TWRP site for the Sprint LGOG. edit: for good measure I flashed the zip from octhrope and rebooted into recovery again.
I'm downloading your ZVC Deodex V2 to flash right now - I'll edit and let you know how it works. I'm going to wipe dalvik cache, system, data, and cache, then factory reset and then flash the rom (just so I'm being entirely transparent in what I'm doing).
edit: The second I started the flah for the zvc v2, it failed:
E:unable to open zip file.

Check the md5sum. Make sure it wasn't a bad DL.
You may just have to start from LGNPST.
There are 2 versions of the 2.6.3.0. You HAVE to use the KK version to flash 4.4 ROMs. Which should be the one you got from octhrope. Just make sure the TWRP is written as being for kk. Other than what I, or octhrope have listed as KK TWRP's there no way to tell.
So to start fresh. In TWRP wipe the 4 then power off. It'll warn of no OS. Then LGNPST either zvb or zvc? Then you can teeny bin, then flash KK TWRP, and flash a rom. Again... Probably flash stock to start of with.
In the root guide is a walk thru for LGNPST up to teeny bins if it'll help better.

Never stupid questions with our phones.
It's all in the Root guide stickied in Development.
But ... the bin file you need is here. http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23134718111252790 It's ZVC which is our most current.
Then, since you already are using LGNPST, you can teeny bin to get root and unlock.
Then flash KK 2.6.3.0 TWRP, Flash stock ROM and you should be good to go.
Another option is to LGNPST ZVC bin, use fiddy619 root, then install FreeGee from the market and it will unlock and install the needed TWRP or CWM. Either option will work for you
I'm trying to get that file to work through lgnpst and it keeps coming back saying it's an invalid bin file. Anything I'm doing blatantly wrong?

That's weird. You should have stock recovery.
If I remember right to get into stock recovery, press power+vol dn until capacitive lights come on then release. It might take a couple of tries. Then do a factory reset. IT WILL WIPE EVERYTHING! SD included. I think you have to use the capacitive menu to select your choice.
LGNPST should go to 67% and reboot. Leave your phone plugged in until the screen comes up that says something like.... Unable to communicate

Error on update binary either means you need cwm or different twrp. Or its a ROM for a different device. Probably the first 2 though.

Also, when I soft bricked mine without a custom recovery, LGNPST didn't work, but LGflashtool did. You'll lose everything though
Sorry, didn't read above. I'll just leave the post there in case anyone else has a problem

Good to know regardless. Thank you!

[Q] [SOLVED] Phone will not unlock, have to pull battery and restart

AT&T pushed out the 4.4 update a few weeks ago and since my phone was rooted with custom recovery installed. The update soft-bricked the device. I have installed both of the roms from this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal.../rom-ds-ne5v1-i317-ucucne5-mj4-stock-t2803363
and with each of them the problem begins slowly and steadily increases to the point where I had to pull my battery at least 20 times today.
The screen turns off and will not respond to the unlock button being pressed. There does not seem to be any answer I can find through xda or google.
Since I have fewer than 10 posts I can not ask this question in the thread containing the roms.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Are you runners a custom rom or stock?

Both ROMS are custom versions of stock.
Did you undervolt the kernel in anyway? What rom are you on and what kernel you on?

I did not do anything to the kernel. I have flashed DS-NE5v1 and DS-NE5v1-ButtNaked from here and both exhibited the same behavior.
Ill send you a link of the settings from agni control app in a back up folder

Should I be searching for cart.3234 (that did not prove fruitful) or should I be searching carts for number 3234 (how would I do that)?
Before you flash any rom you need to wipe system.
I did a factory data reset and weird the dalvik cache before each flash.

I just searched in both development sections, the help/q&a, and the general section. The only reference to the term "cart.3234" is in this thread.
Oh sorry I thought I link but just type mega in the play store and download it then try to find my mega account

Factory reset doesn't wipe the old system. When you change rom bases, you must wipe the old system, or you end up installing the new base on the old base creating many conflicts.

He doesn't need to wipe the a system to flash a custom kernel
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
True, but he has installed three different roms of different bases on top of each other. Before he does anything else, he must do a clean install of any rom, to include wiping system. Otherwise, anything else is just adding to the mess.
Well most roms formats the system when you flash the rom in recovery I was just gonna have him try the kernel and the settings to maybe fix it

Try this.
Step 1: Boot into recovery(Power + volume up + home)
Step 2: Wipe data/factory reset
Step 3: Wipe cache partition
Step 4: Advanced
Step 5: Wipe dalvik cache
Step 6: +++++Go Back+++++
Step 7: Install the rom
Step 8: Repeat steps 3-7
Step 9: Repeat 3-5
Step 10: Reboot your phone normally
Step 11: Wait 5 or so minutes
Step 12: Boot into recovery
Step 13: Repeat 3-5
Step 14: If you know what a kernel is and intend to use one continue to Step 15 otherwise reboot your phone and have fun.
Step 15: Install your kernels the same way you would install a rom
Step 16: Repeat steps 3-5
Step 17: You are done.

Thanks @SockmanTGR I was forgetting to wipe the cache. I did a fresh install two days ago and did not have to do a battery pull until this evening. Then I had to do it 3 times in a half an hour. I followed your steps and am hoping for better results this time around.
I know what a kernel is, but do not have any idea as to why I should prefer one over another. Can you offer any enlightenment on the subject?
A factory reset from recovery does those wipes.

Yeah, but all the developers tell you to format/wipe system before you install their roms.
I'm just giving my suggestion based on the OP flashing several roms and he never mentioned how he prepared his phone for the new rom.
If you apps are misbehaving the remedy is cache wipes, but not doing it won't cause the OP's issues.
I'm running the same rom and having these same issues. Im running the buttnaked version. The rom already has Agni kernel as part of the rom. I have not installed many apps since I've flashed this rom and whenever it's not locking up or making me pull the battery it runs great. When I installed the rom I used twrp v2.7.2.2 and wiped the dalvik cache, cache, system, data, and internal storage then did the format data option. Rebooted the phone then installed then rebooted again and everything was good for the most part except having to pull my battery. I don't know if I could make changes in Agni kernel that would help?
