Im looking for a Kernal that can read 64gb card on darthstalker rom?
Stock kernel that comes with it will support 64gb. Most if not all TWiz ROMs and kernels will support a 64gb. It is the AOSP ROMs that are particular about it and the kernel match ups. Mine worked on Darth just fine from day one, but I've moved on since then.

Same Issue
I too was looking for a way to get Darth Stalker V3 to read my 64GB External MicroSD. I have used a couple of applications and they all show around 12GB, though I may be reading it wrong.
It was also be nice to have it read my ext-sdcard as my internal so that I can install more apps, etc. I know there are workarounds and custom kernels out there, but a lot of the workarounds seem a bit intensive, and as I am a noob at all of this, I really just don't want to brick my phone...almost did that installing LiquidSmooth ROM...it was a no bueno day. Thankfully I flashed back to stock and then re-rooted and saved myself lots of $$$.
Anyways, anyone else having this issue, or figured out a fix?
found a formatter thats called guiformat from ridgecrop. this formatted and i switched to twrp . now everything is working good with faux kernal and it reads my 64gb sd.
Just curious, what's the purpose of external storage?
(I'm assuming your talking about plugging in an external card reader/flash drive to the mhl USB connector?)

I was on CM10 for the longest time but i got tired of the issues so i went back to touchwiz. I clean installed Wicked Sensations (jellybean) and it told me my SD card was dead, so I did a LLF. Now on any TW ROM it says it is blank and I need to format it, so with the phone I tell it to format it, but it doesn't, it says it does but it never does. Now I'm back on CM10 and it can't mount it! I need help!!! What should I do?
EDIT: After putting in my old 16GB SD card on CM10 my 32GB one works! But only the 32GB and only on CM 10.0.0 (stable) meaning no nightly( already tried) and no touchwiz

bump....
No one has any idea what to do about this???
Well stick the SD card in a regular PC or Mac and try to format it, and see what happens..
So I went ahead and rooted my GS3 and put the CWM Touch recovery on it from the toolkit in the dev. section. I went and installed Jellybro 10.1 and everything was a mess after that. I should also mention that I properly wiped everything and installed the proper 4.2 gapps before starting it up. Everything seemed to work fine, until I noticed that the phone didn't notice my 64 gig SD card anymore, it said it was broken or something and continually asked me to check it. In fact, when I was in recovery, it would even say that there was an issue with the SD card. I decided to use ODIN to try and reinstall stock Jelly Bean from AT&T and after successfuly doing that, everything worked just fine. What's the deal?

If you have another microSD in a smaller flavor, try that out.. Also try using TWRP 2.3.3.1 when running a 4.2 ROM. Handles 4.2 file system better than CWR.
I'm having an issue with my external SD. I made a backup using the latest version of TWRP running AOKP 4.2.1 and now my external SD card is unreadable on both my phone and computer. Even when I take it out and and directly attach the SD card to my usb it cannot be read. I'm not quite sure what is going on, I can't even format it.
I just tried ODIN but that didn't work.
It looks like this is an issue with straight up using CWM. I tried again without a 4.2 rom and it said my sd card couldn't be read. lame!
If you sifted through the pages and pages of comments, most people said TWRP was a bad idea to use on 10.1 and to use CWM. Also, on many pages it says NOT to use anything higher than a 32GB SD card.
Been running multiple 4.2 ROMS and even the one you were on and had zero problems. You have to take time and read about 90% of the comments and the search function in the thread of the ROM is your best friend.
hey ive noticed that whenever i used it on jb roms, my sdcard would not be recognized. I really want to fix this because this is probably the fastest kernel ive used

Probably has to do with the format your SD card is in. Seems FAT32 or EXFAT can have problems. Im having similar problems right now and am attempting to fix.
Try to find out what your SD card is formatted to and post.
I have searched for days for a clear simple explanation on how to get apps to external sd card for my rooted t-mobile note 2 running several different roms without any success. I am aware of the mods in this forum that claim to do this but I have not yet been able to make it work right. Yes I can get my internal and external SD cards to switch in my storage settings, but apps still go to internal memory. Is there a rom that has this ability already built in? And if not it sure would be great if in the near future we can get it already set up in a custom roms, if possible. In the meantime if anyone has any suggestions or can explain how to get my internal and external to switch, I would greatly appreciate it. I have read it is Google's fault, and I have read its Samsungs fault, but regardless of who is at fault, there needs to be a good solution that should not have to take days to figure out. This is a great example of why we should always thank and donate for products we use that developers work hard to make better. Leave it to the greedy corporations to screw a good thing right up!
UPDATEI finally resolved the problem. I installed the JEDI X13 ROM and I flashed a PERSEUS KERNEL for that rom, but be sure your rom will work with the version of perseus kernel, and flashed this ext2int mod: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1436240&d=1351383762 It did not take effect until I rebooted and waited several min.
Im running jedi x13 with perseus kernel and a swapped 64gb card.
Apps installing fine on my externel card
Sent from my SGH-T889 using XDA Premium HD app
anyone else know of a custom rom supporting apps2extsdcard?

This is what I am trying to find out, what custom roms support apps2extsd card? If anyone knows of such roms let me know. Maybe a new thread just for a list of these roms is needed? I am going to try jedi x13. Any others?
Hi all,
Apologies if this is an old issue, but I can't seem to find it posted anywhere else. If I'm providing irrelevant information or not enough info, please let me know.
I rooted my phone an hour or so ago as I wanted to be able to raise the volume on movies so that I could actually hear the audio through headphones.
Since I rooted my phone the device won't mount my SD card. As soon as I boot the device it shows a system notification "You can safely remove SD card".
When I go into Settings>More>Storage the bottom option is for "Mount SD card". However when I press this it says "Preparing SD card" and then roughly 10 seconds later says "SD card safe to remove".
I have been using the Sandisk 64GB XC I SD card with the phone since I bought it.
I rooted my i9195 using Odin 3 and using the files below:
GT-I9195_MF5_870901_kernel.tar.md5
recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.3-serranoltexx.tar.md5
The phone seems to have rooted correctly. Rootchecker advises that the phone is properly rooted.
Everything on the phone seems to be working correctly with the exception of apps loaded on the SD card.
The SD card works fine in my girlfriend's phone and all the data is there. The SD card worked minutes prior to rooting the phone. My phone also reads my girlfriend's 32GB SD card fine.
I was tempted to unroot the phone in the hope this would restore the functionality, but I have no idea which version of the firmware to unroot back to.
After all this, my question is:
Is there a way to fix this issue?
I read somewhere that some kernels werent able to recognize 64gb memory cards. Maybe "GT-I9195_MF5_870901_kernel.tar.md5" this could be the issue.

So if I try a different kernel then this may fix the issue? Fantastic! Is there a better kernel you can recommend that I should try? As I mentioned, all I want is to be able to increase the headphone sound on videos...
If you look at the original root release thread there's the latest recovery and a custom kernel meant for stock ROMs for you to flash. Flash those it should work.

Sorry to ask so many questions, but I'm now a little hesitant to do something and end up doing the wrong thing. I assume that this is the thread you're referencing? I see so many ROMs there that I'm now just totally confused as to what to do and which one is for my device. I'm using the LTE i9195, so I assume this is the kernel I should be using?
I initially used this link to root the phone, so I'm now just searching for the original thread you mention. Hopefully I've got the right idea and it's just a matter of doing what I've already done with one file changed.
Thanks again in advance guys, I appreciate all the help!
Nope, I'm referring to the original release thread by arco68.

You are partially right about which kernel you should flash. That link you posted is a kernel meant for devices which use custom ROMs based on AOSP.
Your ROM is a Samsung ROM (Touchwiz) and therefore you need to use a different kernel.
You have three options:
A) The original modified samsung kernel by arco68 in his release thread
B) f4ktion kernel based on A but with added features. The link is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2636890
C) junkyde's Vikinger kernel for Samsung ROMs also based on A: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2545244

Thank you SO MUCH. I followed the instructions and I can see my SD card again! Happy days and jubilations! You are a gentleman and a scholar.
Now to find how to raise the volume of headphones... Wish me luck! :silly:
Some kernels support raising volume. Otherwise you could adjust the DSP effects to add gain to all frequencies on the equaliser
Glad to have been of help
I have a small "ideea"
If someone with 64 Gb card could test something with a custom kernel ( that does not support 64 cards ) would be awsome ...
Set your I/O scheduler to CFQ I/O ( the default samsung uses ) in my kernel i use No-Op I/O and it does not work with 64 cards. Maybe other kernels that don`t support it uses some other scheduler then stock.
U can modify it with No-frills CPU Control and root
Thank u in advance
