NFC chip to emulate NFC card - NFC Hacking

Hello, i'm quite new to NFC devices (and NFC generally, in Italy it's not really used).
I travel often and in Turin, GTT has a NFC card that is used to access metropolitan trains.
I have a Galaxy Nexus, there's a way to use the phone as it is this card? I mean, the NFC tag contains just a "code", right? Is it possible to read this code and make my phone "emulate" the card?

I guess you could, I saw someone on YouTube use there nexus device and payed for gas in the petrol ( gas if you're American) station.

So nothing to do for now... Thanks

Due to the NFC secure element you cannot emulate any information. Only the apps such as Visa and Google wallet have the keys to the secure element.

That is assuming the device has a secure element installed. For example the T-Mobile version of the galaxy s 2 has NFC built in but no secure element that will be later added with the whole Isis wireless payment coming out....

(Q) How to test the NFC?

In here, there isn't Google Wallet payment nor any kind of NFC payment.
How to test the NFC?
Is there any NFC transmitter thing that we can order for testing?
I live in the Netherlands. I have never heard NFC being used here.
CMIIW...
Thanks

I've used this to test my octopus card
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nxp.nfc.tagwriter&feature=search_result
Thanks. Lucky I still have some octopus cards from my trip to HK.
I read some tags with no problem, but some cards even though detected, it said not supported and cannot store data.
And I don't want to mess up with the other octopus card because it still contains some money.
Hmm...

the GNexus currently can only read pre-formatted tags IIRC
you might want to check out the Apps/Themes section as there is a bunch of NFC stuff over there (just search NFC)

Can a device be used as an NFC tag?

If so, can I copy the code from a certain tag and have my device replace the tag?
Here is what I mean:
Let's say I am in a hotel where they use cards with NFC to unlock the doors. Can I use a special software to copy the code found in the NFC tag inside the card and then have my phone "project" that code with it's NFC capabilities? The result: Unlocking the hotel door with my phone.
I am generally speaking.
Thanks,
Oren
Think there's an app for that.

And that app might be...?
There seems no APIs for notifying detection of external RF field to apps. So, probably it's impossible.

I don't know what exactly you want to do,but this URL should put you on the right track not to mention it works great.DL Check out Samsung ezon door locks, they use NFC and the link below is Samsung's way of letting you clone the code to your phone so it can be used instead. Works over RFID, now remember say a work card or hotel as you said. Well unless the hotel happened to have 0 security for encrypting or shielding there RFID unlock code in this case, similar to the defcon hack. Then it would not be as easy to implement. So yes it can be done providing you have access to the master key in effect or there isn't any security. Things such as gwallett as everyone knows uses the secure element in our phones to keep someone from getting someone elses wallet info.

google wallet?

Is there any way to get this through root or custom ROM?
AFAIK no. You need the special SIMs just so you can use ISIS. Google doesn't show much love outside of Nexus I don't think. I say give it a few months and we may get official ISIS. Until then Dollar Generals and Home Depots accept Pay Pal (card less and phone less). And Square Wallet is accepted at a few places (card less).
IMO NFC payments are like 3D movies and motionflow TVs. Novel but not widely accepted.

You are correct, Google wallet and Tmobile's isis requires a secure element to which is not installed on the gs2. Tmobile has it is live in Dallas of i am not mistaken but requires a special SIM card.

NFC payment systems are currently much more cumbersome than a basic credit card. I don't see them taking off.

I dunno about all that, recently I was at a 7-11 and I had my nexus 7 with me which has goggle wallet installed. I made the transaction with no issue, in fact it was really easy and I wish that their has pumps where like that so that way all I would need is my tablet which I have with me all the time anyways. The biggest headache is finding places that would accept that form of payment and not looking like a douche... For the most part unless the NFC payment does not support one of the major credit card vendors then it would pose an issue but I would assume that they do so it shouldn't be an issue

App to Clone or Store NFC tags?

is there any known apps that can essentially clone an entire NFC card, just wondering because i keep losing my Transit cards which are MiFare Classic 1K and would like to have the ability to clone my card and use my One XL to rebroadcast the Cloned data

No, you will need the keys to the embedded secure element. Or ask google wallet to implement it, what they will not do
Ask your public trasportation company to offer that. The French contractor of an overground tube here in my city offers nfc cards while the bus company offers the pay per sms way. Putting them together I'd have a rechargeble nfc app for all public means.

Emulate phone as school card?

Hello,
So I finally got my android phone today with NFC Enabled.
I want to trick people by using it as replacement of my school card.
The school card uses nfc too, I've tested that with some free nfc apps on play store.
Any apps that will help me do this, or any tutorials are welcome.
can your phone read the school card? if no, then it is not possible unless you program an app to distribute your schoolcard information. if yes, try to port(for lack of a better word) the information to an app that will distribute your schoolcard info to the scanner, acting as a schoolcard. if there this no app that can do this, bring this up to the Q/A Forums or try forwarding your question to a developer. they will try to help. unless if you are an app developer yourself then you could try this. hey who knows, it may work.

Wallet doesn't emulate your cards, it actually simulates a completely different card, and then builds your card through its online service.

Unfortunately NFC cards cannot be emulated by NFC phone. The school cards are most probably Mifare standard (compatible with NFC) and therefore you can read them. The school system most probably reads the mifare serial number - this can be copied to another card, but not emulated by a phone. The system may also use ID number encrypted in mifare memory and that would be even more complicated to hack.
However with card emulation - NFC phones do not natively have any serial number. One can be created by installing special applet into NFC memory or NFC SIM card. To do this you would need access codes from the vendor or network operator and they dont give them to anyone.
And even if you would have these codes, the reader would maybe still have to be altered to be able to read those identification applets.
We can read an ID out via NFC and how if we send this ID when devices are read by others?
