I have bought a HTC One V GSM but its it catches Wifi network very poorly although the cell is placed at less than 1 feet of distance from the router and my other laptops and tabs which are in other room catches full signal whereas the One v gets 1 bar in wifi signal.
Mobile network doesn't get when i am in office or home. But when i go to road i get around 1-2 bars of signal but not full. I tried many sims also still same error occurs. whereas the same sim in my other phone shows full and constant signal whether in home or road. when i search manually it says Error searching networks.
Can this be solved by flashing rom??
I have bought this from Ebay India.
I have unlocked the bootloader and its rooted.. and have flashed Kiss kernel. Its only 2-3 days old phone still in warranty, but i doubt whether they will give replacement or fixed this issue coz i think unlocking bootloader voids warranty.
But the problem is from 1st day after I opened it from the package.. Initially i thought it was sim problem but when i tried other sim and also checked wifi network then i show that issue..
I thought flashing a kernel might work but it didn't work.
Sounds like antenna problem for me.... Just find another one v user and switch the lower back portion... The one which has the beats audio logo .. And check it out ... If it still has problem ... U can go back to locked boot loader and try to get a replacement .. They won't question much if u go within 15 days .. U will get a new device ...

sorry, but you wont get warranty if you re-locked boot loader also ,there is a security check in htc centre in which they will catch it

I have sent by courier to the seller for replacement, don't know whether they will give or not,, jst hope for the best.. Bootloader was unlocked when I sent it.. Kiss kernel was also flashed..
That's the problem.!!!! The sim cover is the antenna l!!

You mean the small back cover which has Beats Logo?? If it was that, then i did not put it on the phone coz i was frequently changing sims to test it..

You are wrong. If it says relocked but without tampered then warranty still apply because it was restored to factory settings by official ruu.

yo can try if you get you are lucky because from htc service centre they clearly told once its rooted they will catch it by security check
htc one v reception
look at the 4 golds pins under the back cover, make sur that they are touching the cover. If not raised them gently with a small screww driver.
Your antenna signal should be restore.

if it's restored with RUU then it won't say 'relocked'
it'll just say 'locked'
but in most cases owners of android devices love updating with OTA updates. and if you or he did, accept the 15mb OTA update, it upgraded the Hboot and the RUU for the phone is useless.
with out s-off, meaning PRIMOC and PRIMOU(except the lucky few primou)
will not be able to downgrade the Hboot or RUU.

Hey, I own a HTC One X and my service provider is Virgin Mobile Australia.
My bootloader is unlocked and I wish to return my phone because of the WiFi adapter issues. WiFi signals are usually very weak unless I press my phone near the camera. So, I presume that there is a hardware fault. If I return my phone, will HTC/Virgin Mobile fix the problem free of cost?
I know I should restore my stock nandroid backup, flash stock recovery and re-lock the bootloader.
Still, when I go into the bootloader mode, it says re-locked and not locked. I have no doubts that HTC will know that I've tampered around with the phone. I've had this phone for about six months. Please, please, please help me out with this. I know that I'm a total noob.
Help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks,
Sent from my HTC One X.
I think you have to bring it back anyway to try fix your Wi-Fi issues. If they notice and care they'll just charge you for the repair.

How much will they charge me approximately?

i guess no more than 80$ which is a lot!
i also have the one X (but it's on AT&T in the US), and want to unlock the bootloader to root it... it will always say relocked, and if i ever needed to return it, i would take that up with HTC, right? not AT&T?

The 28 days is a cooling off period, where you can send the phone back if you are not happy with it.
If there is a fault with the phone, take it back to a three shop .you have a manufacturer's guarantee, standard consumer rights, they must repair if it's faulty.....

Im still before my jelly bean update, hope it wont get worse they also said that the HTC stopped manufacturing ONE X and they wont be having any more of them so i an make a replacement on other device could this be true?
I have checked,in other places ive got full signal, but in my home i keep loosing
My phone is constantly failing to detect the sim card, usually if I restart the phone or leave it for enough hours it will "find" it again.
Short of reflashing it I'm not sure if there's any way to determine if this is a software or hardware issue. The phone itself is a refurbished one (thanks to the phones insurance replacing it a few months ago), however it is now out of warranty. If it was a hardware fault, how much would it probably cost?
Thanks, Shaun.
The first thing I'd try is a different SIM card or a different SIM card insert (bit of plastic that the SIM sits in).
Has this always happened since you've had the phone?
or
Has it happened since you flashed the phone?
As for the price of repair I haven't a clue (i do all repairs myself), but my guess is in excess of £150
You may want to provide more information before other, more experienced people, come to your aid.
It's slowly gotten worse over the last few months (the first couple of times I just thought it was a once off bug or something, which is why it's very difficult for me to give you an exact when it happened).
The fact that its gotten worse in itself is leading me to guess its a hardware fault - I could have knocked or dropped it and not remember or something.
I don't have any other SIMs but I'll give flashing it to a different ROM or stock a shot first.

It has done both, the latter's slightly more common though. Probably more often than both it will momentarily drop out, then come up with a "Preparing SIM card..." message.
Still happening after flashing it with a different ROM. Looks like it's probably hardware :/
Might be coxicial cable that connects the pcb with antenea board they do come off from time to time

Hi there,
i have a similar problem with my device:
network disconnects sometimes (for some reasons ok, as example when i sit in the underground or other places without gsm network) - but then the services doesnt comes back - i'm complete offline. next behavior: i'm just talking with full gsm bandwidth, and for really no reason i get disconnected -> no network anymore, no service anymore.
can it be a hardware fault or should i try to flash the modem (when possible) ? I'm on the latest HTC firmware, device isnt rooted or flashed... it is as i got it from the market.
thanks for a hint what i can try
See above could be that, what network you on?

I'm on GSM (in Germany the O2 network)
maybe the network fault can be solved:
just have read in the vodafone forum in uk and found a hint from a user, who was taping the back side of the SIM card with 2 stripes of plastic.
Have tried this and report tomorrow here if it solves the issue
Tested with taped SIM card and i can say: it works like a charme
Hi Guys and Girls
Ive been without Service on my phone DHD now for 8 days. Originally my phone was working great, no issues bar the cracked screen that it came with over 2 years ago. 8 days ago i placed a call, chatted for a while and disconnected, as usual. 5 mins passed and i needed to make another call but my phone was showing an x over the signal strength meter in the notification bar. I called my carrier from my partners handset and asked what was going on and weve not been able to resolve any issues. Ive had a replacement sim sent to me which also doesnt work in the handset, but does work in my partners phone. Is there a known fault like this?
What ive done:
Called Tesco (MY Carrier) and had them run checks for any restrictions to the Sim or handset. Nothing placed by them, had replacement SIM sent to me which works in my partners handset but not my DHD
Had tesco check the IMEI for restrictions, none found
Checked signal Strength, 0
Checked my Lookout and theres seemingly nothing wrong there
Factory Data Reset
Checked APN settings, all correct
Checked the Status of the IMEI and IMSI numbers, both showing Active and working information, not blocked
Re-seated both the battery and SIM multiple Times
Tried the Sim in other working phones with Success
Cleaned and reseated the gold contacts under the battery cover and the sim cover
Tried 3 working SIMs but nothing in the handset
Entered Hboot mode, this is where it got interesting, Hboot screen shows *** LOCKED (00W) *** at the top, image below
Is this what is causing the issue? how do i resolve it?
Any help would be greatly Appreciated!
In addition, my phone was originally locked to the Orange network. Ive been out and bought an orange sim card and that doesn't work either, and wont register on the network either, so im all out of ideas!

Did you get the phone new or used? I could be wrong but it looks tome like someone may have unlocked the bootloader and later re-locked it. I don't think this would affect your reception.
Maybe you should re-flash your phone's radio. It's also possible something has gone wrong with your phone that is not software-related.

It would of said **RE-LOCKED OOW** or something like that if someone re locked it, it looks as though its been updated to a unlockable bootloader though, he could do with unlocking it and flashing a radio, he'll lose all data on the device though

Re locking or unlocking the boatloader will not affect the signal. That seems to be a hardware issue and therefore you might need to visit a service centre

Hello,
I have done the factory reset after that my phone doesn't detects any Mobile network signal. Its Showing me red x mark next to the network bars on the top right hand corner on the display (photo Attached).
Its almost new (used for 2 months only) Bought it from ebay.in. I have checked with service station they said it has some hardware Issue (cant claim warranty as it from Grey market... :crying:
will appreciate your valuable comments/solutions.
First try - Visit PC Companion, Support Center, use the repair function (usually ment to use when phone does not start up, though you can still use it).
Try another SIM card first

Hello...
i tried both, no success.
If you have unlocked bootloader, try to flash a new base-band , try base-band 85 if you are on 77 and ICS.
I read that you bought the phone on ebay, and that the warranty is not worth it?
If so, in case you do not have the unlocked bootloader, you have nothing to fear, just unlock the bootloader and do what you've suggested.
