Hi i have galaxy S III and now wont't charging, when connected to the power battery only blink once. I have try to connect with compuer and nothing not recognized in normal mode only in download mode. any help
Are you Stock, Rooted, or Custom ROM?
official t-mobile
I'm stock rom official T-mobile, also when i connect turned off phone it only blink battery image and go black.
My first GS3 had a bad USB port, it didn't charge and wasn't recognized by my computer, I had to take it back to the store for replacement.

My is recognized only in download mode then it find com port's and install driver's, i also flashed the phone and that is what is confusing me.
I heard Samsung is having problems installing drivers through Kies.
This is probably a stupid question, but have you pulled the battery out and put it back in? Had a situation where my phone wouldn't charge above 50%... Pulled battery... Fixed!
SGH-T999 / D2TMO Sketchy.
I fixed this issue by deleting all old drivers, Installing an older Kies and plugging the phone back in while disconnected from the Internet.
When I get home I can db the drivers I use, but I know they Re here on the forums somewhere

Try a different cord.
I have try everything from the above, different batteries, power cord's and computers it is all the same.
Like someone said above me you need to probably take it for replacement. Some phones can come defective faulty, you payed your money don't struggle

--Backstory--
I have the Epic 4G touch, not the Galaxy S2 Int. So I'm on CDMA. Anyways, I was installing the Samsung Official Update since I didn't have a ROM on my phone. -_-
It got stuck at "Modem.bin". It was stating "Please wait 2 minutes" but it was like 10 min later. So Like all the other ROMs, I just pulled the plug and did a battery pull. It gave me the option for Odin again, or the recovery mode. I had to flash Clockwork using Odin since I always end up having the Stock Recovery.
--The problem...--
Now... I have the stock recovery. The only buttons that work is Vol up and Vol Down, and the search capacitive just makes the screen blank. My home, menu, and back buttons don't work.
I can go to the Odin mode on my phone, but my phone doesn't connect to a computer. If I plug it while it's off, it'll show the battery symbol then go to stock recovery.
While in Odin, it's just that basic screen that you see. The one about how many flashes you have and stuff. It's just that Odin doesn't recognize my device. My computer doesn't recognize my device. No computer does, but plugging it in turns it on.
I don't think there's anything else I can do from this point.
I'm also thinking about a Jtag service instead of a $100 replacement, since a Jtag service would be $50. Will a Jtag service work even though my computer doesn't read the USB from the phone? And what about a USB Jig? I can get to Download Mode, it just doesn't work.

Remember when I said my phone won't connect to my computer? ADB doesn't see the device. Kies doesn't even see it. Nothing happens when I connect it with a USB with my computer.

Same thing is happening to me. Phone not connecting to pc in download mode. Seems hopeless at the moment
Sent from the future.
did you install the samsung drivers?
I agree
You are probly missing the samsung drivers
Hmm... Check the --backstory-- for those telling me to get the drivers. Or maybe I should get the Int. drivers since I think my phone has the Int. Stock Rom and not the Epic 4G Touch.
I WAS able to connect to my computer. I was downloading and installing the STOCK ROM and it got stuck on "Modem.bin". The very last setting it says before it resets and restarts the phone and then it should say "pass" or "fail". (While in Odin, if you pay attention to the box) That's when I did the battery pull to try something else.
I used to do that for all the other ROMs I tried flashing using Odin, so I expected similar results.
So the drivers aren't an issue. It doesn't work on any other computer I plug it in. There isn't any data traveling, just current. I'll look for my original charger since I was using my HTC charger cable. I'm hoping the only thing is that the Samsung want's the Samsung charger.
If this doesn't work, I'm guessing that Jtag service is what I need. Saves $50. (checked, they charge $50 and Sprint Insurance Replacement is $100).
What is this 3-button thing I'm hearing about? Holding Vol-up, Vol-Down, and Power button I'm hearing about? That just takes me to stock recovery.
I'm thinking I was installing the Int. Version and the reason why the Stock Recovery isn't working is because it's looking for the physical home button instead of capacitive. Which is why I'm stuck like I am. I can navigate, I just can't select in recovery.
Ironic that the Stock ROM bricked my phone like this. -_-
which stock rom did you try to install because we only have a dump as far as i know
No its not ironic if you flashed the GSM international rom you had better pray for your phone .....
We have cdma radio sgs2 is gsm .... You never want to flash a gsm rom with radio instabrick

If you can still get into download mode ... One of the devs on irc may still be able to fix it for you ..... Freenode.net #samsung-epic-touch

Flashing int. Version was a very bad idea. You should research more before doing this possible risky ( as u know ) procedures.

That's what I'm thinking I did. The recovery mode, I can navigate up and down, but I can't select. I think it's the International version and it's looking for the physical home button. That's probably what's going on.
I just came from the G2, which was very close to the Desire Z, that they could use the same ROMs. So that's why I was just searching Galaxy S2 ROMs instead of Epic 4G Touch. That's what I get. -_-
Going for the JTag
If anybody has anything else to say go for it. I'm going with the Jtag service. My phone will be gone for a few days. Like 3 since I'm in TX. and it's only $50 compared to a replacement of $100.
*sigh* This is a lesson well learned.
My scenario once again.
Recovery Mode: I can only move up and down. I can't select anything.
Download Mode: I can go there, but the phone doesn't connect to the computer. I'm not trying to sound like a prick, but obviously I have the drivers if my phone is bricked. It's not like turned my phone on and bammed it's flashing.
Thanks for any help, but I don't think this could be solved. I think I'm soft brick + hard bricked.
Did you go on irc its easier to help someone like that .....just go on and ask some of the devs may be able to point you in the right direction

I would suggest buying a new cable and trying that. Seems a lot of users are encountering this lately. The wires that carry data fail, but the wires that carry power still function. It doesn't have to be a Samsung branded cable, but one specifically for charging/data for the SGH-T989. It happened to me both on this phone, and my Transformer. Both times it was solved by using a new cable.
Your local electronics store should carry what you need. Good luck!

I tried it. No help :/. I think it is the phone's usb port that makes this problem. Probably I'll send it to samsung company to have it fixed.
Before u diagnose the phone as the issue i would check and try plugging it to another pc besides the one that doesnt detect it because i have the same issue with my main pc. When i plug it it opens up as an unreadable drive, it wount open or anything, but when i plug it to my laptop it works perfect.
kind of wierd but it works. i also tried installing kies and didnt help at all. now it it still doesnt work than yea probably the phone.

Also remove sim, sd card, and battery for a bit then replace. Also, get the most "official" cable you can. I'm working with an old evo cable and an old g2 cable. Some of the car charging ones/generics won't play nice. Try blowing (light laughing allowed) into the port.

Finally!!
Ok here is what i did:
1-enable EHCI on your computer from device manage >> http://www.intel.com/technology/usb/ehcispec.htm
2-took a portable toothbrush with isoprop (swabbing alcohol)
3-took my phone to the gas station ...25c air and dried the crap out of it
4-wipe/reset my phone from fast boot menu (not android menu)
5-got an LG "B" data cable...
voila monsieur !!!! i dont know which was the silverbullet but i aint complainin.
However, it was still nice to know that Samsung is a no questions asked manufacturer.
Someone was having the same issues as mine in russia, and he said ICS 4.0 did it and is waaaaaaaaaaay better for this phone. Im gonna give this to a friend and WILL NOT touch these till ICS 4 officially comes out here. Tooo much hassle and ive got too much info riding on it (phone). <<personal opinion
So all of a sudden the phone will not mount as USB on my computer. Drivers and everything is fine on the computer. Even got a new cable. Still same problem.
Took the battery out and then put the USB in and the phone just keeps rebooting. Doesnt show the triangle or anything. Phone works fine with the current rom. Dont know what else to do.
Maybe USB plug - not cord- , is faulty. If u have anything else u can connect thru same plug in. If phone still works its the only thing I can think off

hooked up my old HTC inspire and worked just fine. I think its the phone.
Its not supposed to keep vibrating and restarting while the usb is connected and no battery is inserted. I'm puzzled here. Tried flashing a diff rom as well. Complete wipe and what not.
OK best thing I can say its send for replacement phone. Mine was water damaged as I bought my sgs2 for $100 in craigslist. Called tmo and they charged me $20 for the replacement. Other than what I suggested I don't know what else u can do

Funny thing is i have no clue once so ever how this all happened. Randomly started happening.
Maybe a bad download. Its a well known issue once in a while.. its the chances we take for experimenting bro. Can't be mad, its the flash itch, yanno. Its like a drug

ok so after getting my jig through the mail i tried to make it work and not sure if i am doing it right but my custom bonary says "no". usb device not recognized! This is getting real frustrating now!
Sounds like your uSB port on your phone has gone bad, which is a known issue. Had to replace my wifes phone in order to upgrade to ICS.
I called up TMO and the rushed out a replacement unit. They charged me $20, but I called and complained so they removed it.
I doubt its the usb port. It goes into download mode and charges but the computer wont recognize it. I've already claimed insurance also cause i needed a phone to use. Id like my original s2 that i rooted back to normal! I dont think they will honor it either being that the phones been rooted and the custom binary says "no".
i just changed the digitizer as well for $170 my self being that the old one cracked thinking i can revive this phone now im stuck with this $500+ paper weight. It works and i can switch between roms only if i load the rom on the sd card through my other phone then put it in the bricked one (this one)
Is there a way i can flash the firmware through SD?
Can you go into recovery? If so which one are you using, CMW or TeamWin? If that's the case you should be able to
"feeding this unicorn carrots til the finish line"
i can go in both. CWM and factory mode, the one with the android on the screen and says downloading at the bottom.
So issue being its that its not recognized unto your PC? That being so you can download zips thru your phone and install that way. All I can think off is that your USB is fried somehow. Still capable of function.
Sent from my SGH-T989
yes the computer wont recognize and no i cant download zips through it. I have to download on another phone then transfer the sd card to this phone (unrecognizable one)
Anyone else have any more ideas please
You do know that you can download zips from within your phone?
Ok here goes the best to say i just got an epic 4g and i really really wanna keep this phone. First things first I installed the update to the phone for FC 09 i feel kinda dumb now for doing that. The phone now just constantly reboots when the screen comes on after it being off. As well usb is not recognized ive tried everything new cables other cables other computers other drivers official drivers. I would like to some how get off the fc 09 update but theirs no way for odin or even hemidell to recognize my device. Can anyone please help me out
Well, it's worth trying make sure to cover all your bases again to get Odin to work. It shouldn't be that difficult to get it to work. I have no problem, even with stock cables. Worst case scenario, you're bone stock, so you may be able to get Sprint to take care of the issue for you.

without the usb connecting is their any way for odin to connect I've used every possible driver for the phone and others from devices similar is their other drivers then just the usb driver i use to have a lg optimas s and i needed like 3 drivers to ever get that thing connected
Try uninstalling all device drivers you don't need for other devices and the epic. Reboot, do a reinstall, and reboot again. Try connecting again, and give it some time. If drivers aren't installing still after a few minutes, unplug and plug in again. Give it a min or two to finish installing the drivers. Open Odin and try one more time. If it lists a com port in yellow, you've done it. Otherwise I'm unsure why it's not connecting. Also, try the different cables if drivers aren't installing. And use different USB Ports on your computer if issues persist.

What OS are you attempting to use. Vista and 7 were picky for me the try to use the phone initially as a mass storage device. Is it trying to connect and failing to associate the drivers or just nothing at all? Sometimes a battery pull and mashing buttons for 20 seconds then plugging in with odin open, with no battery helps.
My main computer is windows xp pro service pack 3 ive installed the particalur drivers it charges through usb but that is all. still havnt figured it out my other computer is windows 7 ultimate and it doesnt recognize it there either ive also tried loading it through a hub with no go but ill try some of the things you guys said again and make shure to follow them to the key
You should only need the Samsung drivers to get it to connect. I always use a USB port on the back of the tower instead of a front port. Sometimes they can be flaky. Good luck.

Yepper. But that is a good point too, I cannot get my epic or epic touch to connect without plugging into a USB port integrated into the motherboard. Even then I sometimes have to plug and unplug a couple quick times. Mine are still picky too.
I had to go to samsung website and download the drivers for the epic from there. Also try different usb ports. A good thick blackberry cable has never failed me.
