WiFi issue - HTC One VX

I have been having problem with the WiFi shutting off when the phone goes to sleep. Is there a setting or app that will keep it from shutting off?

Try going into settings display sleep and choose never

I dont want the display to stay on. It seems like the same issue that some of the other HTC one phones have. HTC says its normal. I think it's really annoying.

I don't have this phone, but my girlfriend got it recently. I will have to confirm this later, but try this. As with other HTC phones, this should be similar. Go into main menu/settings/wi-fi. Once in the wi-fi section where it will show your available connections, try pressing menu. Then select advanced. You should have an option that you can change for "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep". Obviously select "Always". See if you can find this through the menu settings and if it solves your problem. This should be what you are looking for.

It was already set to always.

Wifi Keep Alive
This has happened on nearly every android phone I've had too... I usually forget about it until it annoys me again, but there is an app in the play store called "Wifi Keep Alive". I can't vouch for it but the reviews look decent. Be sure to have task killer ignore it if you have one, or that would be a waste lol.

I think you meant "make a rom", not a tom lol. Is it obvious yet I'm trying to hit the 10 posts lol?

this has happened on every Android device i have owned, which is not many but yeah. I usually just try and ignore it, my phone turns back on the wifi anyways after I unlock it.

[Q] Keeping the screen on when on external power?

Is there a way to set the screen to stay on on external power source? You used to be able to set different times for battery and power on my WinMo (Touch HD), but can't seem to do that on Android? I want to keep the music player open when on power source (in the car), so I can see whats playing, and easily switch to the next track without having to unlock the phone!
I know some apps can stop the phone from sleeping (sat nav, games, etc), or is there a better music app than the built in? (I find it simple and easy enough to use TBH).
Suggestions/answers on a postcard please
Go to menu, settings, applications, development, stay awake. This will keep your screen active when on charge

Perfect, just what I wanted... thanks mate! Seems to work well, and turns off when on battery!
No problem. Just remember not to keep it on for too long as some people reckon it can damage the screen.

Hmmm interesting points on both of these. I see even with this setting on it dims (but thats fine for me).
People watch videos etc, or is it the NON moving items such as most of the music interface that may cause damage? I am only planning on leaving it on when driving (up to 3 hours at a time I guess, depending on the M6/M1/M25 ), so that shouldn't be too bad!
But what about the night clock, etc? I personally don't use it, but as it's a feature of the phone, surely the AMOLED screens can cope (SLCD not so sure on?)

Still happening

I've actually been having a similar issue recently; WiFi would be working then all of a sudden it would stop and I would have to disable and re-enable to get it working again.
It seems to have start happening after I changed my WiFi AP but other devices (PCs, laptops) are fine. I've not investigated it too much though.

So your sleep policy is set to never? What ROM/radio do you use?
I noticed this on my phone as well. I think, for me anyway, it might be down to using setcpu and underclocking my phone to slowly when screen is off, then again, I may be talking utter rubbish!
Any fix for this yet? So annoying and my only gripe with the phone

Hi,
I have a similar issue on my HTC Desire GSM on which one I have installed cyanogenmod 7.2.
The sleeping policy is set to "Never" and unfortunately, the downloads stop when the phone goes in standby mode.
(I notice this beahaviour especially with the Listen google app, that I use to manage podcasts).
I need to switch off the wifi and re-enable it, annoying!
Any idea? fix? Thanks for your help!

Wi-Fi sleeping when screen off

Even though I've got 'Always' selected for the Keep wi-fi on during sleep option, my phone still seems to turn the wifi off when the screen is off. Anyone else having this problem?
We have also encountered this issue with the One S, I found a fix
Tick the best performance option in WiFi settings, that sorted it for me

Received the update,
Problem still there
My wifi does the same thing, i got the new OTA update today but it still does it

Screen turning on by itself

When I press the power button on my phone and put it down (whether it be a few inches or a few feet away) it will turn itself on for no reason. I have installed various air-push detectors, I have tried cleaning the USB port (note this phone isn't even a month old in my hands) but nothing is working. If you know what's going on and or how to fix it let me know. I'll post updates if I get it fixed.
I've had that happen many times and even after running a logcat I've never figured out what caused it. Sometimes an app requesting su has been the culprit but most of the time I have no idea.
So you never fixed it? I'll try auto granting and using logcat

I recently had this happening because i enabled the alarm in tunein app. Have not had one screen on issue since i disabled it again.
Reminds me i have to enable it again if i dont want to oversleep tomorrow
Hope that helps somehow

i disabled the alarm and as soon as i was going to say it might have worked, i turn my phone off and literally a second later it turned back on
well in that case you probably have to disable one app at a time and test for a day or so to figure out which one causes the wake up:banghead:
my screen on returned with the enabled tunein alarm option. i wrote them a support ticket and hope they will adress that issue as fast as possible.

Yep, it's an app causing the issue. AudioGuru used to do it to me (whenever it changed profile the screen would light up). Since the latest version it no longer does it

it is caused by an application. usually caused by live wallpapers. install dr.web antivirus scan, remove suspicious app. :good:

[FIX] [GSM] BT Temp Fix for CM9 and CM9 based ROM users

Only for CM9 and CM9 based ROM users :cyclops:Did your phone just switch off and wouldn't turn on completely when turning on the bluetooth one day? :crying:
Do you really need your data/messages/settings/alarms/call log back? :crying:
Do you really need to access the internet or call someone urgently? :crying::fingers-crossed:!! HERE'S THE FIX !! :fingers-crossed:OK, So, it's actually not a fix but a way you could get back your precious messages (if there were any), settings, alarms, call logs, etc.. everything!!
It has happened to me the third time while using AOKP Milestone 6 for the HTC One V..
So one day you just turned on bluetooth and your phone got switched off and got mad . It started getting switched off within 10 seconds as soon as it started. You have important messages, etc. whose backup you don't have. You're going mad, you just don't know what you should do within those 10 secs.. DO THIS -
First, of all, I'm not any big man to even give out a fix or something.. But what I did really helped me to get back my data..
I was using CM9 UnOfficial for the One V and there came a bad day on which my phone entered a bootloop and I was ruined with all my customizations..
I loved CM9 so I tried AOKP Milestone 6 then...
Again there came to be a day when my phone started switching off as soon as it started within 10 seconds..
I had my Airplane Mode ON 'cause I was in my class and when I turned on bluetooth, my phone went mad.
In those 10 secs for which the phone was on, it was laggy, just preparing to shut down.
I saw that bluetooth was turned off when I pull the notfication bar down. Tried to turn it on, asuming it would solve the problem, but all in vain.
Then it was really important for me to call home due to some reason.
When I tried to turn off the Airplane Mode, the phone immediately got switched off again.
Then I did this :
1. Opened the dialer app.
2. Typed *#*#4636#*#*
3. The 'Testing' menu appeared.
4. Tapped on the 'Phone Information' option. (10 secs were about to get over)
5. Scrolled down and pressed 'Turn on radio' button.
6. BOOM! The phone didn't switch off again! -The Airplane Mode was still on, BUT I was connected to my EDGE Network and could also access the internet!
Then I could call / use the mobile for a while till I reached home.. I made a backup of several things on my phone using JS Backup.. Didn't dare to mess with the airplane or bluetooth buttons them.. Then changed the ROM when I reached home.
Oops..
Ohh .. Sorry moderators..! I think I started this thread in the wrong section.. Someone please move it to the 'One V Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting' section.
I'm not a CM9 user but congrats that you've found out a workaround for it. Something smels fishy in your problem cause no one reported this kind of behavior before and I am 100% sure that maxwen's work on both bluetooth and cm9 was flawless.

It really happened to me three times using 201212251747 HELLBOY Kernel.. Is the problem fixed now? It won't happen if you use Bluetooth occasionally.. I use it everyday and it always happened within 6-7 days. Them I had to again reflash the same or change the ROM..
