Flash a recovery and partition your SD card. 4ext is the best one out there.
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app

Thanks for reply I have flashed recovery with 4ext recovery but haven't partitioned SD card yet would I need to for mildwild 5.8?? Cheers
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app

Pretty much for every ROM.
Make 1gb ext3/4 partition with 4ext recovery and you're set.

Ok cheers also my hboot is 0.93.0001 would I need to change this??

Some roms require special hboot.

Will making a partition wipe the SD card using 4ext?
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app

Yes, partitioning does destroy all your data.

Ok so I need to back up SD card to my netbook and then create 1 partition using 4ext and then just put all my data back on sdcard?? Am I right?? And the size of the partition 1gb??? Cheers

Right. Partition can be 1-1.5GB ext4 and rest fat32. Skip all other secondary partitions.

Not necessarily. You can use something like gparted on Linux (or Partition Magic on Windows) to resize your FAT32 partition non-destructively.

[Q] can't mount sdcard in recovery after running unrevoked

Hi all.. I've got a horrible feeling this has probably been addressed before - but after doing some searching and finding what I think may be answers, I'm still unsure.
I've run Unrevoked to root my Desire.
Now - recovery mode will not mount the SD card.
The phone will mount the ext partition on my sd card.. (Android 2.2, stock HTC Desire).
I'm running Ubuntu.. has anyone got a quick fix method? The phone appears to be charging.
The partition order might be wrong. FAT, then ext is how it should be

Use mini partition wizard for windows.
Sent from my Wildfire S using Tapatalk 2 Beta-4
tried that but it dosnt show the ext partition
How big does it show the 1st partition? And how big is your SD card?
Sent from my Wildfire S using Tapatalk 2 Beta-4
my SD Card is 4GB
and it shows 3.37GB
i mentioned it wrong i had made 256MB partition ext2
hope you could help
I don't know if this will work. But you can try it.
Reboot into recovery,
Connect it by USB,
Go to mounts and storage
Unmount sd-ext (only if you see it)
Mount USB storage (don't press anything else now)
Check mini partition tool if it sees the 2nd partition.

hmm well i didnt had recovery installed but after installing my SD Card wasnt being mounted then i just went to setting storage and it said that blank sd card
and asked me to format it and after it formatted i saw that the size became 3.62GB

thanks for help
You're welcome

Yes you can. But you need to be rooted to use it. You can use clockworkmod or mini partition tool (windows) to do it.

im in philippines, and my carrier is sun cellular philippines.
i just want to root my phone to extend the internal memory
can i overclocked too?
I'm not sure about this but you should be able to install any ruu that has a software number higher than yours. If it doesn't work, make a goldcard and try again.
You can overclock if you flash a custom overclockable kernel

that makes no difference, as he is trying to install a new rom from scratch...
if you read his posts...he is already s-off with 4ext custom recovery.
OP should ensure full wipe, perhaps a repartition of sd card as suggested
is runny rom cm7?
try hboot from alpharev cm7 or data maby it helps?!

If you have a way of mounting it to your computer you can probably recover most data. Some may be corrupted or there may be issues where you've already overwritten it so it won't be 100%.
But this app is the one I use for all my data recovery at work: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk
