Im not a developer but, isnt all thats needed to make an aosp rom was the kernal source which we now have. yea i know there are some roms on the horizon but im just surprised we havnt seen a true aosp yet.
Or am i missing a peice of the bigger picture.

youre missing a piece of the bigger picture. roms have to be developed and tested. source doesn't mean the rom is already ready to go for every single phone. you have to build the rom from source, this is not something that is done instantly, the same reason you have to wait for htc and sprint to release roms.
Wrong forum.
I dont understand how this is in the wrong forum...its a developement question. Why dont you contribute something helpful instead of trying to be a moderator by proxy. You know like directing me to the proper forum?
anyway
no i understand that portion of that. but I thought that it was easier to build the aosp roms then those with sense crap...when we got hero source there were aosp roms the next day.
Reason why I ask is because I am looking into cooking my own rom...and was basically wondering. as it sits now.is everything availaible to us to make a true aosp rom.
or are we still waiting on some htc bs.
surprisingly, i haven't been too impatient for an AOSP rom. The only reason i want one is for minimum bloatware and Wiimote gaming. And ofcourse, overall performance.
The ROMs that are out right now aren't too shabby, helping me cope with the delays for AOSP

how so? This is an android development question.
it's the wrong forum BECAUSE it's a question. development forum is for posting up radios, ROMs, kernels, and dinking around solutions. it is not for question threads
Cyanogen's rom will be a true AOSP rom. It should (hopefully) be coming out soon.
i'm also looking forward to the aosp rom. i'm willing to sacrifice some of the htc specific stuff like hdmi out.
wasn't darchstar donated an evo so he could get this working?

I guess im not the only user that thinks this is in correct because in the first page there is at least 2 posts that are in par with my type of "question" posts as you put it
and ive counted at least seven more.
So im pretty sure this actually is the "right" forum and if its not im sure a mod will move it.

This is correct +1 and as far the OP question goes, it looks like Cyanogen Mod 6 will be the first true AOSP.

I think you need to rephrase your words and not say "wrong forum", certainly it is not the wrong forum, but the wrong section. I believe this question belongs to the General section.
Here is a link of an AOSP ROM everyone here is expecting soon.
Nexus One Cyanogen Mod ROM Overview!
i know his rom is comming out. I was more inclined of asking why there hasnt been one yet. i got that question answered
but my second question (which wasnt answered) was
do we have everything we need or are we waiting on some htc nonsense because im looking at cookin my own rom
Thread moved to Q&A.

We have everything we need. However it takes some pretty impressive coding to make everything work. Dual cameras and WiMax are new to everyone. This is the only Android phone that has them, especially WiMax. The fact that Cyan got the cams working just proves his coding prowess.

Sweet, my guess was that this belonged here, I reserved comments because I don't want to pretend like I'd be a good mod
Anywho, I am people other that myself are asking this question, I guess there are a ton of us eagerly awaiting an AOSP rom.
Here is my take on this:
The stock Android Source code does not have access to some of the hardware on the phone. Yes we haver kernel source, however, the stock Android software for 2.1 doesnt have:
1. Two Cameras
2. Wimax
3. HDMI
4. Kickstand notification?
You either have to run HTC's Sense or use a Froyo with some custom Android Apps (What Cyanogen is writing)

I tested your rom for a short time...a good place for anyone interested in messing around with a basic AOSP rom.

We all have seen the videos with hd2 running windows mobile 7. If this is true then i just can say well done. But will it be available to public? Probably not because we have had the image to our disposal so far?
Who cares if it not running 100% or 80%. The android community showed us that the users try unfinished builds (as Desire HD) despite of the port state, so why not with wm7? Who cares if i brick my phone (its my own fault)?
Not that i don't hope one day i can try it on my hd2...
Is this open or closed community? why the developers are doing all this if they don't like to share at the early stage? what about donations for some developers here in forum? why they cannot use their influence to get us a build?
Or is it just about greedy Chinese?

Please refer to this thread, which should answer all of your questions. Also, please try to be more culturally sensitive. How would you feel if someone wrote about your nationality asking if it is all about being greedy?
well ok i apologize if i offended the whole nation my thoughts were more oriented to few individuals.
the discussion in other thread is pretty much vague. sorry
what i don't understand that if you as developer work on some "open" project (despite of the fact that this can be one man project at the end) why so much mystery etc.? why do not include other people too?

To summarize the thread, there is at present no ROM from China that can be flashed. Some of the files being offered for download are just old emulator files. So far, we do not know how the phone in the video was configured, and attempts to get more information from those who recorded the video failed. There is speculation that it is one of the HD2s that was used as a testbed for the early development of WP7
Some of the guys on xda.cn have promised to keep us updated on any news about the development of a flashable ROM.
It is strange to me that when Cotulla posts a video of an HD2 booting up WP7 no one makes accusations that he is not sharing, but jump at the chance to do that when they see a video from China.
The best thing to do is just wait patiently for everyone who is working hard on porting WP7 to the HD2.
Starting threads speculating why China is not sharing information, or logging onto XDA.cn and blindly copy files without understanding they are not flashable files, only causes confusion, and even some resentment when xda.cn guys see some of the nonsense being posted on XDA-Developers.
As I suggested in the other thread, just cooling down, and waiting is all we can do. That holds true whether we are waiting for what Cotulla comes up with, or what our Chinese friends on xda.cn can come up with.

well i did it now when i wrote about "developers" and in other thread but the people talk about him as God so there is not much discussion possible (same as discussion with a priest about religion). some of those people do great work but on the other side they are just geeks. that much mystery on every single development is really childish.
we live today on open minded and connected world so i don't understand some stuff going in the minds of those individuals.
but tnx for the info. was very helpful. either way: i am already collecting money for a new htc device because i don't have any other choice (except to forget the wm7)

Since when can post count under 10 post in this section? Your post is in the wrong section. Take it over to the Q/A section and watch the one here get scrubbed by mods.

No - formaly it is a devolment request ... so it belongs to development thread.
all other Models are getting this mod - maybe some god can take over this technology to our beloved DHD's ...
my 2 cents
Thread Moved.
Its not a request, its a question.
Users that registered before the 10 Post rule can still post in Dev sections, the rule wasn't applied retrospectively.
And, it's not working on HD2. At least i'm not getting the setting on it....
Actually... i hardly doubt that 2 fileso on /system/etc/ and 2 lines on build.prob would be enough to enable it...

Even development requests are not allowed in the development forum as a request is still a question.
Please understand that the HD2 will be able to do things that the dhd just can't do.

Like what? i honestly belive the DHD can do thing like the HD2 can't (Like full 24bit color), but not the inverse.
Does the HD2 DO things that a DHD can't do? Certainly. But that doesn't mean much

The HD2 is not ABLE or CAPABLE to do things that no other could.
As it's stands, it is possible to do somethings with it that are unique.
BUT, it's a NOT physical impossibility for the others, DHD or not.
Still... the HD2 will probably be forever history in history as the device that survived 3 major OS (WM6.5, ANDROID, WP7), and several minor (7.1 7.5, And 2.2, 2.3, probably 4.0)
Proud user of one
it would be nice if it would work on the dhd
The mod consists of 2 files in /system/etc, and 2 lines on build.prop
Everyone can do that. Problem is, it's not enough.
There's something missing somewhere, Bravia Engine is only enabled on Xperias
Until i see the setting in the screen section, i won't belive it.
Hi guys,
I really like this new phone from HTC and I'm seriously considering of buying it. However, even with all the ICS improvements, I still like the original and pure googlish android 4.0 experience more than the new sense. Do you think that a fast, clean and smooth pure-ICS rom will be avaiable soon on the HTC One X? You know...I think HTC published a lot of drivers these days, so I assume it wouldn't be too difficoult to build a clean and simple ICS rom from sources...
Anyway, I hope the answer to this topic will come as a new thread containing directly some interesting download links ;D
Thanks!
A pointless thread in the Developement forum.
I'm sure we will se a CyanogenMod ROM but not because of your request..

You aren't funny. At all. I come from a wonderful experience within the Nexus development area of xda (I've got a N1), and I wanted to start sharing some ideas here in the mind of getting this HTC in the near future. I guess some people here think to be god only for the higher experience or...whatever, and they enjoy themselves answering like as more as possible.
Overall...yes, you've got a result now. I'll probably get a Galaxy Nexus, but surely not for sense-related tastes... just to avoid the need of talking again with people like you. You could have answered "surely CyanogenMod will fit your needs, buy this awesome device and you won't wait long! ;D", and you would have even so 'closed' the request, but with a smile.
A word is enough to the wise
I don't think you're wise enough anyway. You're spamming answering like that, not me. I've made an answer. Nothing forbidden or...whatsoever.
p.s.:CyanogenMod is still unavaiable for many devices that have gingerbread/ICS very well-developed from other devs. Usually, CM comes months after a stable release (official or not) has been shared. On the N1, we've ICS fully working (incl. HWA), and CM devs said we won't get their 'v.9' almost surely.
That's all.
EDIT: I think people should ask about future developments...to developer. Why should I be answered from the 'general section' users? Why should they know if developers are now or are planning of working on a pure ICS release??

You do a thread which doesn't fit in the development forum and now this post:
Please tell me who is the real spammer?
I felt a decision: I won't buy the One X, the HTC Wildfire is a better smartphone without so many spamming in the forum there..
Guys, Most of my questions are getting ignored. I am hoping it's because no one has an answer and not just because those that have answers choose to not answer my question for whatever reason. Although a couple questions should be easy answers for people. Just not easy for me. LOL
In any event, I want to Develop for the Galaxy S6 EDGE. I am wondering how I set up an EDGE emulator in Android Studio.
If I can't, is there a better Program to develop with that does have an S6 EDGE emulator?
Once I get that question answered, I would like to know if I can make a copy of my stock ROM, and port it in to whatever tool I will be using to develop with.
Answers to these questions (Even if it's a Google Link and you telling me to go here and read, so long as the page I land on does indeed answer the questions) would be GREATLY appreciated. More appreciated than just people who come in, Look, and then go out.
Thanks All!!
Judging from your post count I can see that your just getting started here, now if you take time to read all the threads concerning the S6 & S6EDGE you can see that the development here is at a snails pace.
The main reason is that this phone is a whole different creature as compared to all other android phones before it, and anything that worked before doesn't work the same way now when it comes to developing on this platform ( 64 bit as compared to 32 bit operating systems ) as it did in the past.
The programs you refer to may not even be updated as of yet to work with the new operating system let alone the Samsung security that's been implemented on the S6e that can brick your phone with FRP turning your phone into an expensive paperweight.
This android is a whole new recipe with a lack of ingredients that devs are having trouble finding.
Don't think your been ignored, it's just that not to much is going on here and it may be a while before new technology comes along that can make development what it used to be.

Thanks for the response Pancho, I realize this is a whole different beast to work with. I was posting my questions because I do see some development going on so I was hoping the Devs responsible for what has been done, would step up and answer my questions.
That being said tho, 1 question does remain that should be answerable (and that I've asked but was never responded to), can A Rom posted here, be downloaded to a computer and then imported into Android Studio (Or another Android Dev Program). If it's able to be imported into Android Studio, I should then be able to fire up an emulator with that rom loaded and work on it.
Make no mistake tho, I do NOT plan on KANGING anything. I have 2 reasons for why I want to know this information.
1. Because I'd like to see what a rom looks like in action before I put it on my phone (I don't like flashing and reflashing and reflashing ect...)
2. I can see how another developer did what did and as such learn from it. I learn by deconstructing so to speak.
I would research Android Studio and find there forum or website and go from there, I never heard of it and don't know if the "one" developer here even uses it, but the only input your going to get is from someone who uses the program.
Try YouTube, maybe someone's posted a video or tutorial on how to use this or similar programs.
Also if you go to the "Android Development & Hacking" section in the main forum you may find what your looking for.
Google is your friend. :sly:
