question about Domination rom and mod proper order to flash - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

i have a question do i flash the mods for this rom after its settled in or since im using TWRP can i and should i flash as ,add more zips with it thanks guys for any help you might give

Anytime I have flashed a mod I do it after it settles in and few reboots. Then you know for sure you have a good flash for the ROM and if any problems come you know it is most likely the mod

Quick question of flashing mods

Can I flash mods to a stock rooted rom or it has to be a custom rom?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
It depends entirely on the mod. Many will work just fine, some require a deodexed ROM, others modify something specific to a ROM.
Like for example the soft key mod to change the color of the soft keys can I flash that on stock rom?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Do a back up and then try and flash your mod.
Its the only way to learn.

[Kernel]Insecure/Rooted, Recovery-Flashable UCALH9[ADB][init.d][Custom Bootanimation]

Hey everyone,
This is a modified stock kernel based on AT&T UCALH9 and is ONLY compatible with stock-based ICS roms. I haven't seen this around so I decided to make it myself for all to use and assist in development. The root application of choice is Chainfire's SuperSU. Remember that the first boot takes longer than usual after you clear the cache.
Features:
•Insecure rooted kernel
•init.d script support
•ADB support
•Custom bootanimation.zip support
Instructions:
1.Download the recovery-flashable zip to your phone's SD card
2.Flash in recovery
3.Wipe cache and dalvik cache
4.Reboot and enjoy
Standard disclaimer: I am not responsible for anything bad that happens to your phone. I have personally tested this on my own AT&T SGS3 and it works great for me.
Special thanks to NunHugger for his infinite wisdom in helping me figure out how to get custom boot animations working and letting me borrow his updater script. Also thanks to dsixda for the amazing Android Kitchen.

Kernel Source: http://opensource.samsung.com
Secondary ODIN Instructions
This is the modified kernel made flashable in ODIN ONLY. Do not flash this in recovery as it will not work. Flashing with ODIN will increase your flash counter so if you use it, make sure to use Triangle Away to set your counter back to zero. Flashing using Mobile ODIN will NOT increase your flash counter, however.

Awesome, thank you for putting this together! Seems like everyone here is using leaked jb builds, ports, etc. and no one is building on the latest ota ics update. At the moment I'm more interested in stability than trying out new stuff so I'm on rooted, debloated stock UCALH9.
I'll give this a whirl today, thanks again for working on it.

You're welcome! I haven't seen much LH9 work either so I figured it's a step in the right direction. After talking to Nun, he inspired me to eventually release my own rom, so you guys keep an eye out. I'm busy with the university, but more recently learning development. I want to push out something nice for you guys if I can get the time, no ETA.

Thanks again, it's working great. Thanks to this kernel I was able to get some of the V6 Supercharger settings to stick that wouldn't stick on re-boot before (except for those setting requiring a deodexed rom), as well as some performance enhancements and custom boot animation using Rom Toolbox that I couldn't get to work before.
Looking forward to trying out your rom. Cheers!

Hey guys, I'm just wondering if there is any demand for a UCALH9 based ROM with Aroma installer so you can pick and choose what you want included, and that also includes this kernel. I may have something along those lines in the works.

Thanks for the kernel. I’m getting longer “deep sleep” now and Light Flow seems to be working better too.
A deodex, rooted LH9 rom would be nice. Not a user of Aroma installer.

I'm glad to hear that. Aroma is nice, but it takes a long time to get it set up to my liking (I don't like issues). I'm happy to announce that I am currently uploading a ROM based on UCALH9 with this kernel included. I've spent a lot of time on this to make it right. Expect new updates soon As I talk to themers. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33584484#post33584484

drothenburger's thread in General has an unmodified UCALH9 kernel. I don't know if it's rooted. I have a stock boot animation in themes and apps that you can use with this kernel though to remedy the stock feel.

For whatever reason I was more reckless with my captivate and did not care, but I never even soft bricked it...however..just to be sure..I download the recovery flashable kernel, put it on my ext-sd card, boot into stock 3e recovery, and I can flash this?

You will need to flash this from a custom recovery rather than 3e. Cwm or twrp will work. You can flash the tar file from Odin though. It will increase your flash counter though. Easily remedied once you're rooted with triangle away. Note that this will not automatically root you. Use qcom toolkit for that

Questions Regarding Flashing CM10

Happily I have flashed the new CM10 and rooted, and it is one of the greatest ROM's I have seen so far. But and update came out and Im wondering if I have to reflash the boot.img again or just flash the zip only to update it. I already have CM10 installed.
Also small question. What are your guys recommended undervolt values? I looked all over forums but could not find anything.
Always recommended-flash boot.img-wipe-flash ROM...but since ROM is same.
..wipe is not necessary..
Sent from my One V using xda app-developers app
Its not necessary that you always flash the kernel after a ROM update.. unless the thread specifies to do so .

Someone said they have the AT&T Jellybeer rom running perfectly on our T889, I need to flash our modem though, correct? Does anyone have a zip link to one, I can't seem to find a recovery flashable one? I'm kind of excited now, since our forum seems so quiet.

No need to flash a modem. Clean install first, then just flash the rom and flash gapps. I'm currently running Jelly Beer. :good:
I have Jelly Thunder running fine on mine, I just stayed in recovery and flashed Persius kernel for our device after flashing the ROM, everything working here.

Modem is not the same, but I am assuming the roms that doesn't include a modem will not replace the one you have now

Yea, I just asked someone in the Jellybeer thread if I had to worry about that, or flash a modem, or kernel. To be on the safe side.... if so, Mmm..... back on AOSP, is going to feel so good. Lol

I too am running jellybeer and it is great it will do for now till whitehawkx and cmenard relese a nice shiny new AOKP rom for us (fingers crossed) it has some AOKP features in it. All I have to say is read read read and when you are done and think you got it read again. All the info is in the the first few posts of a rom thread. just make sure that there is no modem mostr devs do not include a modem but I have notices a few that are starting to put one in so just watch if they do they usually say so because like I said it is not standard pratice.
I do have a question I have not flashed any touchwiz att roms only the unofficial cm10 and jellybeer. So on the TW roms do you have to flash o tmo kernel? The reason I ask is because on the s2 the main difference was the rotation. It was always messed up so the way to fix it was to use a tmo kernel or vice versa . Until someone made a .zip that fixed that and the device name in the build.prop so is that the same situation here.. It doesnt sound like it.
And one m ore question while I am here I posted a question in the q&A thread if anyone knows the proper lcd density. I dont like the way jellybeer is it has small fonts on the phone but everything in the market is way too big and it is driving me nutts.

That i dont know, all the note II has the same hardware, correct me if im wrong. so i dont know if flashing a tmo note II kernel with a Att TW rom will work. but CleanRom is using Persus, and i think Tmo N2 has Persus kernel, so maybe it will work
Here it is guys, i took the risks with my heart pounding every second when it was installing and booting
Using CleanRom by scrosler, here is the link
I flashed the rom, in aroma, i choosed ATT as the carrier and persus kernel, then the rest is pretty self explanatory
then i flashed Tmo modem and Tmo Persus Kernel
it booted and it is running, i powered it off and took out the battery to test if it will power back on again, and indeed it did
Clean rom works perfectly without a flaw.. no need to install any kernel, modem or anything .

Could be a few issues.
You could be on an old version of JellyBam that does not use the 3.4 kernel. You also could have downloaded the wrong kernel from the page linked. If you could give us your ROM version that would help.

Kernels are flashed in recovery, not Odin. The problem may be the recent display changes in KT's kernel. You may want to check his thread for an earlier build (pre 4/19) before the display commits were added.

correct. flash his 4/11 release.
and if you ever find yourself in a bootloop from flashing the wrong kernel, just flash the correct kernel in recovery. wipe cache/dalvik, fix permissions and reboot. good to go without having to restore or reset anything.
also, i'd stick with ROMs in this forum that are supported by the dev.
