Last week, I called the wonderful HTC customer support about this error I'm having with my HTC Evo (same as htc one x) and they basically told me that it was androids fault. So then, I tried finding contact information for android, but to no avail. So, I decided to give sprint a try and they told me to call HTC.
So now, I am at lost as to how I can fix this error that I am having wth my phone.
This is what happens:
1. I connect my evo to my computer
2. An error on bottom right side appears saying "Hardware ID is Missing"
In otherwrods, my computer can't detect the phone and I don't know why. I've reinstalled the HTC syc program, uninstalled USB drivers and reinstalled, uninstalled phone drivers, and I turn the developer mode on and off, but the problem persists. Is my phone defective??? I don't know!!!
Does anyone have a solution to this error that the multi billion dollar bafoons can't solve? If so please help me!!!!
This is my last resort or else I will go back to sprint to get an Iphone 5 because I know that the Iphone f*cking works.
Also, I am having a problem with my android navgiation app because of the error "map has stopped working." If anyone has a solutiont to this error then please help as well.
Thank you
Nah, I don't think the evo and the hox are similar in any way...you should've seen that. Also there is a complete section for the evo.

As this is posted in forum of wrong phone I have closed it. I would have moved it, but as there are more than one EVO version I didn't know which one is the right for your phone. So please make a new thread in the right section.

First rule of asking for help: BE SPECIFIC!
For example, what EXACTLY are you doing to get an error? What EXACTLY does the error say?
sorry. I installed the btaudio.cab file to my dash. it installs fine. I go to start then open it. Then it come up with ERROR An unexpected error has occured in bttest.exe. I hit details and this is what comes up

Hi
Have got a serious problem. In a nutshell I decided to upgrade my ROM using the Samsung website. Ran the updater - after getting to the stage ‘downloading file 2’ it asked me to manually soft reset the phone. So I did and nothing. By now it had reached the ‘downloading file 3’ stage however the updater then froze too. I looked at my phone and all that appeared is a black screen with picture of white phone in the middle and an overlapping solid yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside.
The phone now does not shut off/soft rest or anything. I even took battery out for five minutes but still same screen. The next problem is that I tried to run the updater again however it requires active sync and as the phone does not turn on it will not sync up.
Please can someone help with this? I am noob so please don’t suggest any soldering or hacking type methods but I can work my way round a set of clear instructions using basic software. I have spoke to Samsung who have suggested sending it to their engineer but will take two weeks just to give me a reply as to what’s wrong with it! Further if not covered I am screwed for repair costs and if covered it’s going to take ages and I need my phone back asap. As I used the Samsung website software there must be a way to solve this.
Please can all knowledgeable forum users reply as I have previously relied upon and used advice from this forum with much success. I would really appreciate it. Thanks to all in advance.
Sorry Samsung Omnia by the way
Welcome to forums
As this is an HTC devices forum only you won´t get too much atention, however in off topic there is a thread regarding samsung, perhaps there you can get more help.
Good luck,
Hi,
I suggest to ask on www.modaco.com forum, there many people have developed omina roms, so, for sure they know much more about this PDA.
Usually you should be able to enter in bootloader mode and flash a new rom but I don't know omnia. So, ask there and you'll find some answer.
You know how sometimes you get someone starting a thread about a problem before they actually try to do something about it, and then 60 seconds later they post that they restarted the phone and the problem is fixed? Yea, this isn't one of those times.
I tried using Sprint ID for the first time on my E4GT yesterday. I went to "Get a New ID," and when I press it, it says "An unexpected server error has occurred. Please try again." And it only gives me the options of "Retry" and "Cancel." So I try again and I keep getting the same message. And as the headline to the message, it says "Oops...", like I'm getting punkd by Rick Perry during a presidential debate or something.
When I do this, I have wifi OFF, and 3G ON, exclusively. So no, its not that. Also, I've tried different ways to get a new ID, through the "Switch IDs" way, the "Manage IDs" way, and I even went on Sprint.com and had 2 different new Sprint IDs texted to my E4GT for download and I still get the same message. Also, FYI, my phone is stock, non-rooted. And yes, I've restarted the phone, multiple times.
I briefly Googled the problem and have only found a similar issue reported for the Samsung Transform, not the E4GT. Has anyone here encountered this problem or a similar problem at all? If so, how did you fix it?
If anyone has any valuable input about this issue I'd appreciate the help. Thanks folks!

Hi, I had a similar problem where my gs3 wouldn't show up as an mtp device on my win 7 laptop even tho it had b4 & even after going thru the whole driver reinstall process.
I almost gave up after googling the hell out of this issue, but then I happened upon a post somewhere recommending to shut the phone down, pull the battery out, & then replace it/turn it back on.
Alas, this did the trick. Don't know what caused it or why this worked but it wasn't just dumb luck, it fixed the problem.

Hoping someone can provide some direction. First and foremost I am not a HTC savvy so although there are a few threads here about the same issue none of them relate to me as I have not rooted the phone nor flashed to custom ROMs or anything to that nature. I am simple user of the phone... Now.. to the topic.. so I bought this phone for my brother in law last year as a birthday present, and at the time I had a working phone so I didnt put my mind too much to it.. but I did liked the phone very much. Two months ago, I decided to purchase one of these, so I bougtht an HTC ONE X Phone S720e Android 32GB 8MP 3G WiFi GPS Bluetooth Unlocked White. I don´t recall what versión of Android it carried at the time but looking at the specs it should had come with Android 4.0.3. After loading it up, transfering my files on to it and loading some basic apps, whatsapp, email, Skype... it off coursed asked for a software update two times which I went ahead and did. The last one it installed added Android 4.2.2 and HTC Sense 5. It was working fine, layout changed considerably... now after doing another of the updates to applications and software, specifically the transfer files update it suddenly quit recognizing data services completely. I though it might be something with the micro sim, so I tried testing a couple of others, it didnt make a difference so I decided to back up my contacts and information I had on the phone and did a Factory reset. It wipped it clean but issue remains the sames, it is unable to even recognize the sim card is missing and when I go into settings I see the message Disconnected because service is unavailable.
Reading online, saw a few folks stating that this situation was related to software updates.. so I was wondering if I could get some help on how to get this fixed. Not sure what to do, downgrade to 4.0.3 or how could I get it resolved so appreciate some direction here.
If you go to settings - about - phone identity, does it still shows the imei ? Seen many people here having their imei gone from their phone and becomes an iPod since we can't write it back. Tho you are on stock, so better send it for repair.

It shows up as unknown actually... is this a software related issue then? Im concerned about the other phone going through the same situation... should no updates be installed to it then? That makes it fairly useless and might prefer to send it back and try to get a refund instead.
same problem for me, still wait for fix
