Is the Galaxy S II still the Epic 4G touch? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I went in to the sprint store today and saw a phone they were calling the Samsung Galaxy S II... not calling it the epic 4g touch. So... is would the ROMs be under the S2? Or are they still under the touch?

Still same thing my white one is gs2 and my gfs black one is eptouch still in my account page

Yes it is still a Galaxy s2 and the roms would be under Epic 4g touch section so if u go to epic 4g touch android development that's where the ROM for Sprint's Galaxy s2 are.. o.o

it's the galaxy S II epic 4g touch
the at&t version is just galaxy S II

Not sure if this was Samsung or Sprint making the call but seems it was to reduce confusion when Boost and Virgin also released it. Sprint was an oddball in having a different (and long!) name for their version of the S2.
If it came from Sprint it's the same model though, no matter what the "title" is. Can always verify against the sticker on the back of the phone as well!

[Q] Slow data speeds with telus and some other questions

Hey guys new to the nexus world. This is the first nexus phone I'm used to the galaxy series.
OK so I bought my nexus from a friend who was on bell. I'm with telus and first thing I noticed is it doesn't say 4g on it just H I don't know if thats normal another thing is that my data speeds went from 7-10mbps with galaxy s2x (sgh-t989d) to less than 1 with nexus? Radio related issue?
Is the 4g icon a carrier related issue as it is with the galaxy s2 phones. Also are there any carrier based firmware like galaxy or is it all the same with all nexus phones
Thanks in advance guys

The Nexus isn't a 4G phone, its HSPA+...which is why is shows "H+" instead of "4G".
As for your speeds, I get between about 5-8mbps (on average) on Rogers with mine. I used to be on Bell and always got crap speeds on their network with any phone I owned. That's one of the reasons I ditched them.

Thanks I figured as much with the 4G icon even thought telus says that it is a 4G phone that supports up to 14mbps. I'm guessing the 4G icons for the LTE version in the US.
Are there any dialer codes that let you select band? besides *#*#4636#*#* or maybe a telus radio?

Not really, but its easy enough to flash a new radio (assuming you are rooted and have CWM or ADB knowledge).

Radio on S III

Current Epic 4G Touch user here. Looking to upgrade but worry about the Samsung Radio. Since upgrading to Galaxy S2 from EVO OG, the radio has been very week. 3G speeds are terrible, and GPS takes a long time to get a lock.
Wondering if the SIII has the same issues.
The s3 is much better

MUCH better
I filed FCC and Attorney General complaints against Sprint over the E4GT because the radio was THAT bad.
Ive been very happy with the S3. Ive owned almost every Samsung handset that has come to Sprint in the last 4 years and I have to say, I swore off of them after the E4GT fiasco but they have won me back.

Boost Mobile

I understand that the Epic 4G Touch may be released on the Boost Mobile service. But what does that have to do with Sprint's Epic 4G Touch? Yes is technically the same network, But until its actually released on Boost Mobile, shouldn't the ROM Leaks be about the Sprint Epic 4G Touch?
FG20, FG30 and FG31 have all been tagged with Boost. But I have yet to see any news on any website that deals with cellphone news saying anything about the Epic 4G Touch being released on Boost Mobile. So why is it that the main focus has been shifted from Sprint ROM leaks to Boost Mobile ROM leaks? I'm not going to chance bricking my phone because of a shift in focus. Why in the HE double hockey sticks are the ROM's being posted in the Sprint Epic 4G Touch section anyway?
Well, for starters, the updated modems and base software work.
Some are actually saying that there are fixes compared to ff18.
Others are saying that the "masking" of the releases are to throw the "dogs" off track.
Take your pick.
But isn't that the point? Get a new toy, tear it apart and compare?
Oh, and Boost IS Sprint...

boostmobile need another 4g phone they only have the evo on the sale site
if they do put the epic 4g touch it eill get then a big boost
The Epic 4g Touch from sprint is the same thing as the epic 4g touch on boost. Only difference is different apps, some tiny changes in MMS and other areas.
That's why the latest leaks are Boost roms. We can put it on our E4GT just fine with minimal problems (roaming / mms but easily fixed) and they are somewhat 'smoother' and may have bug fixes.

Sprint ditched the Epic branding

So now that Sprint has dropped the Epic 4g Touch branding from its Galaxy S II variant, will the forum be renamed to Sprint Galaxy S II?
Idk why they would, this phone is still pretty epic

i guess since the sgs 3 blew up they wanna change the name so normal people know its a Galaxy phone
What is this I'm hearing? It will no longer be called the "Epic 4G Touch"? Oh my...
I suspect it's a way to try and get around the potentially upcoming injunction IMHO. That and they're doing the same with Boost. (Our MVNO used the E4GT name but for marketing dropped it where possible since Japanese customers know that brand VERY well.)

Trade Epic touch for Sprint Galaxy Nexus?

Im tired of having issues with calls with my epic touch.. I get a lot phantom voicemails, phone not ringing until the callers phone has rang for 4 times. Missing calls even though i have full bars etc....
been dealing with sprint rep and they trying to say that it a tower that is currently down but been having the issue for year already and my other lines dont have this issue . Friend of mine is willing to trade me his Sprint galaxy nexus for my epic and i was wondering
What do i gain in a galaxy nexus ?
and what do i loose when i get a nexus?
also wondering since its a samsung and the issue is most likely a radio issue and ive read that samsung admitted that the phone radio sucks
does the galaxy nexus radio suck as well?
EDIT: nevermind he just backed out MODS please delete .
