Im tired of having issues with calls with my epic touch.. I get a lot phantom voicemails, phone not ringing until the callers phone has rang for 4 times. Missing calls even though i have full bars etc....
been dealing with sprint rep and they trying to say that it a tower that is currently down but been having the issue for year already and my other lines dont have this issue . Friend of mine is willing to trade me his Sprint galaxy nexus for my epic and i was wondering
What do i gain in a galaxy nexus ?
and what do i loose when i get a nexus?
also wondering since its a samsung and the issue is most likely a radio issue and ive read that samsung admitted that the phone radio sucks
does the galaxy nexus radio suck as well?
EDIT: nevermind he just backed out MODS please delete .

I went to the sprint store today and asked them about their 4g LTE upgrade and they said that they already had a phone compatible with 4g LTE when it arrives, The samsung galaxy s2 epic 4g touch, now im guess they're probably wrong though. Does anyone here know if the samsung galaxy s2 epic 4g touch will support 4g LTE when the service comes next year?
No, the Epic 4g Touch is Sprint's version of the Samsung Galaxy S II, and has been out for about a month now. It only supports WiMax, not LTE. I'm sure the Sprint rep was just assuming you were looking for generic "4g" and just referred you to Sprint's 4g which is NOT LTE.
hmm well the rep specifically said that it was one of the phones that would be compatible with the 4g LTE service but i doubt he knows anything about it. the other rep had no idea what i was talking about when i asked him about 4g LTE lol
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus that was co-announced with Android 4 (ICS) is an LTE device. I read that Sprint already lists their version of this phone on their books, so it supposedly is coming. Probably not until Sprint gets LTE rolled out though.

Well while i was at the store i asked one of the guys about the next nexus phone and he only knew it was coming to verizon first. And he didnt know when it could come to sprint, he even thought it was the Nexus Pro lol so he was kinda clueless. but im assuming it will come to sprint either in December or Q1.
i would never believe any of the sales reps they never know anything and if they do they play stupid pretty damn good
Ditto. Sales reps rarely know much of anything regarding devices coming to their carrier.
People going into the stores are pretty stupid too, it's not always the sales reps. They probably deal with idiots all day that hear about LTE and ask if this phone will still work when they switch from WiMax. Of course they don't state it that way, they probably say "will my phone work with LTE?"
I'm sure we can all agree customers in any place are - in general - stupid. Plain and simple. If they were smart, employees would be forced into being a bit more intelligent. Remember how the iPhone 4 was '4G'? Prime example.
It will be awesome if they pull a moto xoom type deal where you can send the phone in to get a new radio installed.
hello all wow thats all I can say. all these readings show no voice and data call over sprints cdma network on any phone. so I did some research call sprint yes I know crazy right they said yes on 4g, then I went into a sprint store again crazy right how come sprint does not seem to really know anything about their phones crazy right! anyway the store said no. So I tested it I made sure I was on spring 4g network. my wifi off I placed a call told the person to keep talking, I pressed on my internet icon on my phone and guess what it worked a voice and data call over the sprint network while on 4g. my question is why is this not toted by sprint like it is by att? and why does sprint techs do not have a strong definitive answer I mean come on this is a easy test! anyway just wanted to spread the word and see if others have same result. pulling my hair out grrrrrrr and guess what I'm bald!
test it out folks remember turn of wifi! make sure u r getting 4g.

That's nice.
There should be no Sprint users perusing this forum though, as this forum is for the GT-I9100, which is a GSM phone that doesn't even work on Sprint's network.
Maybe you want to trumpet this news in the Epic 4G Touch forum?
EDIT: ah, it finally got moved to the right forum.
Thanks for the info but honestly this is quite old news and has been known since the Evo days. Use of Wimax is so limited is the main reason I can see why anyone not knowing but rest assure this is old news. Although as an fyi - the new Galaxy SIII handles voice and data separately over 3g so now you can use data and voice on 3g as well with that phone
I currently have the SGS2 (epic touch 4g) on sprint and have had the issue tooooooo many times were i get phantom voicemails and some times my phone wont rign at all or it wont start to ring till the 4th ring then by then most people hang up . I use my phone heavily for work and a miss call can be loss of $ revenue.. These issues happen even when i have full bars of reception. A friend of mine has the SGS3 also on sprint and is having the same issue ..
I want to get the note 2 for many reasons but just cannot have this issue . Dont know if this is happening on all samsung phones but it didnt happen on my epic 4g.. or if this is a Carrier issue (sprint).
is anyone having these issue's with the note 2?
I had this happen to me tonight. I had 4 bars of service and my phone said I had a new voice mail. I checked it and it was from 2 seconds ago. No ring no missed call. I think it has something to do with the time in between cell tower pings. I wish I knew how to Be shorten this time. On another phone I had it was set to 7 seconds and some calls would go to voice mail befire thw phone even knew I had a call. I shortened it to like 4 seconds and never had the problem again. I think it was something to do with saving battery life with the slower ping times. I wish I knew the code to change mine on my At&t Note II.
Hey All,
Just wondering if anyone has succesfully traded an EVO LTE for a Galaxy SIII in store. Im plagued by LTE drops and the signal on the Evo not working properly. If you were able to convince the Sprint Corporate stores to swap out your phone, please drop some advice. Thanks!
There's another thread about this, all u need to do is replicate the lte problem for the rep and they will exchange it for you.

Not sure what string of words to search for, can you drop a link? Ive seen people ask whether or not they should do it, not really with stories on how to do it though.
Buried towards the end of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2001667 are a few posts by ppl who got to switch due to the lte connectivity issues. They just went in to corporate store rep checked lte connection against other devices and swapped em for sgs3 no question asked

Afternoon everyone. I have a question I was looking for some help or direction on. I have 2 phones on hand one is a Samsung Galaxy s3 sprint version and the other is a LG Viper 4G Lte sprint phone. I bought the galaxy with the thought I would use it on one of the sprint resellers that allows bring your own used sprint phones like Voyager. They can activate all old non active Sprint phones. I bought that galaxy as the esn was clean but had trouble getting it on and come to find out its a clean esn but the phones imei is listed as active to an account still meaning I can not turn it directly on untill the last owner gets a new phone on contract to kick that one out or until the fill contract length it was subsidized on is completed which is about a year away still. That sais the old sprint branded LG viper I have is completely clean and not active on an account. My question and thought for educational purposes is can I simply just swap the imei number from the good to goo viper to the galaxy 3 and then be good to go or is that imei alaos attached to the esn? In that case Is it possible to swap all the info from one phone to the other including the lte 4G and then just turn it on that way? The viper I checked with Voyager mobile and they can turn it on no issue on sprints network. I want to use the galaxy on Voyager which is sprint but I would like it to have full lte 4G working. The Viper is also Lte and could be the donor. What can I do as far as options like this since Im using 2 sprint lte phones and will keep these on sprints network...? Thanks for ideas in advance.
....
No ideas or thoughts on this?
