So I tried installing a status bar icon replacement on Cyanogenmod and ended up getting stuck on boot loop somehow...
I went into recovery and wiped data, wiped my cache and dalvik cache and it's still stuck on boot loop...
help?
reflash rom
the rom isn't on the root of my device anymore and I can't exactly set it there without it turning on.
Causes a slight issue I imagine?

it doesnt have to be on the root of your device, as long as its in your storage. if its in the storage, find that location amd flash it. now what do you mean you cant exactly set it there without it turning on? you lost me there.
The rom isn't on my phone whatsoever.
I meant I need to be able to have the phone fully turned on in order to move the zip over to it.

what recovery are you using? twrp has an adb sideload option, cwm might have something similar.
Just push another nightly zip over with adb, while in recovery. Simple! Don't understand what the fuss is all about.

if u made a backup for ur stock rom, then restore it.
if not, the easiest way is to reflash factory image using fastboot mode. or see my thread in signature
Pardon my noobishness, but I really would rather not unroot my phone and set it back to stock 4.1.1 unless it's my only option.
Either way, I created a backup last night but it doesn't work. When I tell it to install it says "no file found".
At this point, I'm willing to let somebody take over via viewfinder if it'll help >_>
Flash new custom rom
And every modification SYSTEMUI.apk make sure permision each others

so flash google image 4.2.1 using fastboot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895.
If u flash 4.1.1 i think u will receive update before rooting.

this is the thread you should have read BEFORE "bricking" your device. Which you didn't by the way. You don't want to know what a REAL brick is. Don't use the word lightly.
Sigh, one last question I guess -- even though I've asked a ton.
Now that I've flashed CM and my gapps, everything on the phone works except it shows that I have no installed apps...my messaging app, app tab..phone... nothing is there...

I have just rooted my Google Nexus and it went very well. I have installed the phone encryption which also went well... I installed an application that I bought on Google Play called phone locator Pro and it crashed when i opened it, so i submitted a bug report and decided to reboot phone, when the phone boots back up and I unlock it with my pin the msg phonelocator has crashed appears and it takes presidence of the screen and I cant select the OK button to get rid of it - so I cant use my phone at all!
I cant even restore my backup because the phone cant read the virtual sd card in clockwork recovery because its encrypted! How can I get around this, Im freaking out and my heart is beating at 200 bpm!
Thanks!!!!!!!!

I think worst case that you might have to flash the phone again and you might lose your data. But with everything backed up to Gmail as far as contacts and things, you can recover. At least it isn't hard bricked.
I know that doesn't sound too reassuring but all is not lost! I would suggest when you get it back and running that you make sure everything works and do a reboot before encrypting it.
I assume you already have the toolkit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1400871
See if you can get into CWM from the toolbox.

I cant flash it though, because the phone is encrypted and in recovery it wont mount the volumes. I have a backup I can restore from if this worked for me....
Yup, I have the toolkit, used that to root my phone, but it will want to reboot the phone, I wonder if I can remove the APK somehow without being in recovery?
As one of the users pointed out, you have to reflash a custom rom again, you will obviously loose your contacts but it better than loosing your nexus.
1.get a custom rom, not stock because it will erase cwm.
2.transfer it to the SD card
3.boot into cwm using boot combination.
4. Wipe data/factory reset and cache.
5.choose *choose zip from SD card.*
6.reflash your rom then your gapps package if u have one.
If this doesn't help you will have to try fast boot method

Most likely fastboot is the right method for you, I can't explain much as I'm mainly a cwm user

How can I flash a custom ROM if I cant access my partitions in CWR!!
The phone has encryption...... It wont mount the partition where the ROM is and I cant do a factory reset because it fails when it tries to delete the data partition because its encrypted and the android secure partition.

"extract and flash google factory ROM?" or would this method you linked above allow me to do it without worrying about phone ecryption?

Will this need to boot into fastboot, if it will it wont work, since the partition that the ROM is on wont be visible, this gets decrypted later into the boot of the phone.
Just hold down vol. Up and down and power at the same time.
Type fastboot devices into terminal on your computer and see if it shows.
The partition should be visible, just not the data on it.
And it should only be the data partition that is encrypted anyway.
nodstuff, it worked!!!!!

I don't have one and anyway its not about money so enjoy your phone and remember that it is really hard to brick a nexus so don't give yourself a heart attack next time something happens, it can always be fixed.
Read about adb and fastboot, so valuable.

Thanks for the all the info..
I did similar with my HTC Desire and learnt fast! Appreciate the advice too - I got the phone just yesterday
I am now just reapplying the custom ROM I use and NEVER using encryption again.
So I attempted to upgrade my girlfriend's Galaxy Nexus from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 (this is on Verizon. Was using a Xenon HD version from last August and attempted to update to the newest version).
Well, since I'm an idiot, I didn't read up on the file system changes and now I can't figure out how to get everything working properly. I have the sdcard/0 now and haven't been able to move the files over from sdcard/0 to the sdcard.
All I want to do at this point is just restore a nandroid backup and start over from scratch. Any help would be greatly appreciated.... I'm also having driver issues, so if there's any way to do this without using ADB, that would help immensely.
Thanks in advance.
The SDcard/0 is supposed to exist. Take 10 minutes to do the tiniest bit of searching and all your problems will solve themselves.

I did a half hour of searching, but thanks for the help. I must not be searching for the right thing....
so can the phone turn on? or can you only boot into recovery

Yeah I can turn it on. Gapps didn't install, though, so I don't have a keyboard and can't install goomanager from the play store to update recovery. I also can't move files in the file manager because it times out very time.
if you still have the old xenon rom .zip file on the phone you could just flash that after wiping/clearing everything. then from there boot into recovery and see if you can see your nandroid backup of the old xenon she was on. not sure if this will help but worth a try. looks like the new xenon rom required a full wipe so something may be messed up that you could fix by flashing an older version

As 063_XOBX said, sdcard/0 is supposed to exist. Considering your comment later in the thread about not being able to find old backups, it sounds like you have an outdated recovery that doesn't understand the new file structure. Update your recovery rather than screwing with Google's intended file structure.

i p.m. him without a response. im sure he figured out he was doing something wrong. it helps to read instructions
I really hate to start a new thread but I really can't find a reason/solution to this issue. It's just as the title says. I tried flashing the MIUI ROM just as any ROM and got a failed error. Then went to do my nandroid restore and it just hangs on the splash screen (boot screen). Anyway I thought there could be a bad download so I took out the SD and redownloaded synergy on my laptop, then put it back in the phone and nothing but the nandroid should let me restore. I even tried moving the files to the internal SD and nothing. The only thing I can think of is to Odin back to stock? Is it the same method as rooting? I'm sure I can find that out, but I'm just confused why it seems TWRP doesn't want to work. Thanks for any help, it's 4 a.m. here and I'm dog tired.
Are you on the latest TWRP?
If all else fails you could go back to stock and root again.

are you able to flash a different rom, say a stock rom? It's possible you got a corrupted TWRP download.
Since they just released another update 2.4.3, you might want to try and download the zip file, wipe cashe and davick (may want to do it three times). Reboot back into TWRP 2.4.3 and see if it gives you some better luck.
I've had Nandroid backup that didn't work for whatever reason. I didn't test it prior to needing it, and got burned. It just wouldn't show up in the restore menu.
On a side note, what error did you get when you tried flashing MIUI?
Try rebooting recovery when you are in recovery already once before flashing/restoring anything anything.

Ok, I was'nt sure. I just went back to stock. I just wanted to know what exactly was going on and why.
The only thing different on my phone is I got a 32 gig SD card. I transfed some of my files a couple days before doing anything of this. That's the only thing I can think of. Even after root/unroot it STILL won't do my nandroid restore. I had so much time and work into the apps I set up, games, ect. Really freakin sucks. I even went into the the TWRP backup folder and made sure the backup files were there before doing anything. I never even got to flash many ROMs, I kinda just stayed on Jellybomb.
I had the uTorrent app installed and I noticed that it changed a lot of files with the "u" in front that the uTorrent app has. Anyone know why that is?

I tried again following all the steps and i cant do this :S
well friend, i would, but if CWM is giving you the purple screen, i will not advocate using it in that condition. it is very obvious that something is not right, and to use it while in that state is unwise. one slip-up can mean the end of your ouya days without you even knowing what you did.
try again to get CWM to work properly, then go from there. if you can't get it, post in the CWM thread, you're not the only one to have this problem. be patient and read everything. use the search function- very important.
Can you show us some images from the CWM? for some reason I can not see anything because I just see an purple screen with the texts are aligned to the left
