Is there any way to unflash zip files? I flashed some mods for my toggle bar, and I think its killing my battery. I was just wondering if there was any way to get rid of them? Thanks

The best way I know of to "unflash" a package is to:
1. Find the files that were flashed with the zip.
2. Extract those stock files from your ROM.zip.
3. Push them over and set permissions with a root explorer. (I.e. ROM Toolbox)
Reflash your rom only wiping cache and dalvik this will restore rom and leave your user data and apps intact

The best way for me is to just keep regular backups of your working setup that you can restore back to.

So I've installed a few different roms along with their respective mods for different workspaces, rosies, etc...
1. My question is, after installing these mod files, is it required that I keep these files on the root of my SD in order for the mods to remain?
2. Oh also, is it really necessary for these files to be in the root of the SD card since CWM can navigate through folders to install? (I was just wondering)
Once the mods are installed the zips can be deleted unless you plan on using them again..... and the files don't have to be on the root. recovery can navigate folders.... hope this helps.....

I was wondering if there is a skin (or 2) that I like on one Sense 3.0 ROM, could I download it from the ROM I'm currently running using Root Explorer & install it on another Sense 3.0 ROM?
If so, how would I install the skin on the other ROM??
Just use Root Explorer to put the .apk file in data/apps?
Or .zip them up & flash them in recovery?
Thanks.
Simply .zip-ing it wouldn't do anything without an updater-script. Your best bet would be data/apps and adjust any permissions if need be then reboot

cool, thanks.
If it's an apk, you could just back it up with Titanium Backup. TB will backup system apks & restore them. I'm not sure if this is only available in the pro version as that's what I use. While restoring system apps across roms is generally a no-no, I think it would be fine with something like a theme.
Or you can pull the app with Root Explorer and reinstall it.

I accidentally erased my stock calendar (running Stock FD26 ROM). When I try to re-install the calendar apk (TW and not the Stock ICS calendar that can be found on CM9/AOKP), it will not work.
Many people on xda and other forums have said to copy the apk via root explorer to system/app, check all permissions then reboot.
I copied and pasted the apk to system/app, checked all permissions, and reboot. Nothing happens. This also happened with the voice recording app. Can anyone give me some advice?

I am sure someone can help you but personally to be quick about it shouldnt Odining over a stock build replace all the system apps? Certainly would undo other things you have done. Sfhub one click odin the same version use the no data one.
So i disabled it when I was on FC24. I used sfhubs no data wipe to get FD26. I guess I could try again.

Whenever you flash the FD26 OneClick, it will reinstall all the apps that came with FD26. If you flash the NoData, it'll keep your existing data partition.
Therefore, if you flash the NoData version, the calendar apk should be put back in place.
Root programs that I've uninstalled via root uninstaller?

I've removed some programs through root uninstaller. Such as gmail. I didn't make backups.

Probably have to wipe data and reinstall roms or try flashing a Gapps package.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
some apps, such as gmail, can be downloaded from the market. For others have you tried pulling the apks from your rom.zip and placing them in /system/app?
While it is normally fine to remove certain system apps (I routinely strip down every rom I install of certain apps), getting them back can be a pain sometimes if you're not sure how to do it. Another way to achieve the same goal is to 'freeze' all the apps you don't want to use. They won't show in the app list and they won't run in the background but they will still be there if you ever need them.

I would wipe data if it doesn't work reflash the rom.
Some of the stuff you may have removed may be best resolved by reflashing the build that you're using. For example, I use Gmail and another mail app, no need for Exchange or the stock email. I used to not back these up so when I actually needed to test something it was off to ODIN my phone again . Now I use TB and back it up before I remove it.
This is very simple to fix. It should never be a pain to accomplish either.
1: Find the apps you want to restore in the rom you flashed (if you don't have the original .zip, download it or a similar rom). Use 7zip or WinRAR to open the rom file.
2. Copy the apps you want to your sdcard.
3. Use Root Explorer or similar app to move or copy the apps to /system/app (you will need to make sure your file explorer can mount the /system in rw)
4. Reboot and enjoy
Basically you just want to pull the apps from a copy or the rom you flashed or a similar one (ICS>ICS GB>GB). Then move those apps to /system/app and reboot. The phone will reinstall them when it boots back up.
Has anyone downloaded one of the rooms and it not do the sd0 thing and no need to flash that fix memory zip? Just curious cause don't have an external sd and interested in checking one of those roms out. Thank you

If you d/l one of the 4.2/4.3 roms (AOSP or Sense) it will do the SD0 "file thing" If you want to find the original files you will need ROOT EXPLORER or other root browser and go to the ROOT directory then DATA>MEDIA. You should see all your familiar 4.1.2 files. If you go to DATA>MEDIA>0 that will be the "new" 4.2/4.3 directory. You can copy and paste files back and forth between the two directories or you can simply move them w/o copying.
If you get tired of 4.2/4.3 and want to go back to stock 4.1.2 here is what to do:
go to recovery and do a full wipe (DO NOT WIPE INTERNAL)
RESTORE your backup of 4.1.2 (or flash your 4.1.2 rom)
before booting into 4.1.2 (still in same recovery session) flash the FILE FIX
Hope that at least partially answered your question.
