you installed CWM .. right... then... can you browse your sd card by "Select zip from SD card" option?

Naah. Thats exactly where prob lies. I m unable to select root.zip via recovery process. In fact when i press recovery, my fone hangs on android startup screen.

better try flashing cwm again on the phone...

You gotta flash CWM 5.0.2.8. so get the right one if you don't.
clockworkmod dot com / rommanager
If you're using that one reflash it and try again.
It worked for me the first time but I got S-OFF first so I don't know if you have to do that first.

firstly u must be a s-off before rooting..
then u might be installing the PG67IMG.zip
otherwise its not possible to root

That's the problem new WFS it's not possible at all to flash custom recovery. I have tried around 50 times different methods and different recovery img. Without success in my brothers WFS . It will show you recovery has been flashed but you can't boot in to recovey. So in my opinion don't waste your time. I have still managed to root WFS without recovey. You can root without recovey.

Blackscreen slcd recovery

Hello everybody,
I just rooted a desire with slcd with one click i put in amonra recovery. Everything went fine. Till i want to go in recovery. I get a black screen but i'm sure there is the recovery. When i do some things with the trackball and i went back en move a couple a times up and press the trackball the foon reboots but then it is stuck and i think it is because of a bad ROM install.
What to do? My uncle will kill me.
How do i get the recovery to see?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
youve rooted it and put on a recovery for pre-slcd device.
theres a fix somewhere deep in here. can you boot into the os and see the screen or is that blank aswell?
also this should be in a different section
I can not boot into the ROM and i just did the unrekoved
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
unrevoked 3.21? or an earlier version?
try booting and leaving it for a bit. if all is well and its just a dead screen then it will be booted, you just cant see as the screen is dead, check device manager in windows and see if it shows adroid device (adb or my htc) in the list
run unrevoked 3.21 again and let it flash clockworkmod and not amonRA
Can u see the device ok adb??
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Moved to Q&A as not development.
Yes the device works in adb. When i run top i can see whats happening.

Isn't there a . Img for the device and run that thru fastboot? Because that is working but what .Img do i have to take?

If you are able to get into bootloader unroot the phone and it will be solved. The best and easy way is via bootloader, just download a stock froyo zip put it into the root of your sd card and go into bootloader, no need of getting into recovery
Getting this error when puting in a PB99IMG
checking: PB99DIAG.zip
no image
checking: PB99DIAG.nbh
no image or wrong image
checking: PB99IMG.zip.
This takes a while and then
Main version is older!
update fail!

you can only run fastboot img for recovery when you have s-off.
please boot normally and leave it for 5 mins to make sure its loaded( you wont be able to tell cos of black screen)
connect device and when connected run unrevoked 3.21 and allow it to flash clockworkmod recovery

I have a htc desire with no screen showing up. I tried to change of screen withtout success. I dont know the backgound of the phone. I dont know if it is rooted or S-Off. I started unrevoked but it appears that I cant start the process. Anything else to try?

That's what I would have asked, too.
Look here for files (search, where it says "6: Custom Recoveries"). I've always done it by following method: "3) Via PC49IMG.zip Process (Needs S-OFF) - Download anyone of the PC49IMG ZIP file of the recovery you wish to install, place on your SDcard, and reboot into HBoot Mode ..."
' Well, when I've run ruu's on my phone. It never touched the bootloader because it was newer than the one in the ruu. So after that I just flashed cwm and a superuser zip and carried on as normal
EDIT: Also, can you get into recovery through hboot?

right. But as a hint: if you do it with method 3) and you want to go into recovery with Fastboot after flashing a new one - you have to get the PC49IMG.zip out of the SDCARD's root first (e.g. connect to USB or put the card into a card reader to remove it)
I flashed the shipped ROM and I am glad that it didn't remove S-OFF. After that I rooted my device using SuperOneClick. Thinking of staying with this ROM for a while before reflashing ClockWorkMod. Thanks a lot guys for your help.

Have you tried flashing a rom? How did you get to this state?
Reflash your current ROM via recovery without wipe. That won't damage your apps and data. If this doesn't help, try to flash it via hboot using PD98IMG.zip. If that doesn't help, too, then it might be a hardware issue, in this case, you'll have to replace the motherboard. Some days ago I tried to reanimate my friend's DHD with such symptoms, but didn't succeed.
Phone is dead. Sent from my washing machine.

You are misguiding him. Sorry, but a RUU won't flash as long as the bootloader is unlocked. So he will have to relock it first. Besides, if he is flashing a custom rom with an unlocked bootloader he will have to flash the boot.img in fastboot as well otherwise he will get stuck in the splash screen again. So, before sending him to replace the motherboard we should know what he was trying to do.
Heey i tried everything i have a recovery that i did in clockwork recovery i worked a xouple of times then one time it didnt work and i got stuk even tried to flash custom roms didnt work can u help with steps to revive my phone

Having an unlocked bootloader isn't the same thing as having a recovery image installed.
You need to download ClockworkMod Recovery (or similar) for the Desire and install it. Try alpharev.nl as the easiest way to do this.

Just download 4EXT updater app. Do a search for it. That will install 4ext recovery for you. Its better than Clockworkmod. Me and a lot of Desire users swear by it.
via xda app
Try this steps..works even when you did some stuff on your phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024141

Nope. What class is your sdcard? Also did you select backup with trackball rather than power? (just need to be sure some people get mixed up and sit waiting on a black screen)
Sent from my LG-D802 using Tapatalk
First I tried with it's original 2 gb SanDisk card, probably a slow one, extFat (original format, not tampered with). After, I tried with a 10-class 16gb Kingston, fat32. Same result.
Haven't touched the trackball. Not sure if it even works.
Thanks a lot for helping.

As stated in the op of the other thread the controls in the recovery are different. You need to use the track ball to select backup. Power takes you back into a moot menu. Were you using power to select?

In my opinion the last totally stable build of android for the wildfire was cm7 (android 2.3.7) we had an ice cream sandwich rom running for a long time but i dont believe all the bugs were ironed out of it. Ics is 4.0.1 i believe.
