Bright Line on home screen - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Once in a while on my Sprint Galaxy Note 2 I get a bright horizontal line near the bottom of the screen. It only seems to happen when I come out of sleep and swipe the screen to unlock it. (No security, just swipe to unlock) Not sure what the deal is. It is there just for like a half second then goes away not to return until I do the same thing. It doesn't do it all the time either.

Same exact thing happens with mine. I have security on mine. Mines stock as well.

I haven't noticed mine doing this since I made this post. I have restarted the phone a couple of times. Not sure what the deal is. Wondering if anybody else is having this issue besides 1 person.

Screen alignment with bezel off?

Hi all. Got my Note 2 and loving it. Got a question though. My screen is slightly off center with the bezel to the right just a bit. Theres more "black" space where the screen live pixel end in the left then the right. I know no phone is perfect and dont want to exchange and get one with bigger problem. You guys have same issue? Might be different side of bezel. Want to know if its a normal accurance. Thanks.

My screen is slightly off center to the right as well. Once you notice it you can't unsee it.
Sorry to hear of your dilemma. Mine doesn't do that. If it were me, I'd make them give you a new one. When you're paying 600-800 for a phone it'd better be perfect. Imo

Well, I did an exchange for a different reason, and yes, the new one has the same alignment issue too. Not as bad as the first one I had. After checking the stores display of different Note 2, they all had same screen alignment issue. Some more visible then others. Not a big deal to me with my new one. On another completely different thing, I find it kind of misleading that when you see the pic ad in Samsungs Note 2 site, you see the feather image covering the whole screen, not showing any dead pixels on the sides. Yes, $600-800 is a lot of money but there is not 1 device out there that is perfect. Either squeaky back or power button, blueish screen, loose buttons, speaker cracking,.... All have something.
Of course, if problem is really bad, exchange for new one. But as of now, I love the Note 2.

oh yes very common on Samsung 1st batch's but not talked about much.
My Sprint versions had off center so I swapped out second was perfect - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33473143#post33473143
From there I left 7 years of Sprint misery joined ATT
First ATT was perfect.
Second was pushed left with menu key backlight transparency jagged.
Third - my current has perfect center & menu key.

[Q] Dip in Faux-Chrome Ring?

So I just picked up a new AT&T Galaxy Note 2 as an upgrade through my local AT&T store 3 days ago and I'm loving every second of it. Software-wise the device runs perfectly other than the occasional overly sensitive stylus (it will sometimes think it's touching the screen even when I'm hovering while using S Note). Hardware-wise however is a different story, yesterday I noticed that the chrome ring around the phone (looking at it from the front of the device) kind of dips in right below the volume rocker then bulges out near where the middle of where the volume rocker is. It's very slight, but if I run my finger nail off the edge of the screen around that area the screen is a little higher off the edge in the bulged area. I've babied the phone so it must have came like this, has any body else noticed this on their Note 2? If not am I justified in trying to get the store to give me a replacement? 1st world problem for sure but now that I've noticed it I'll notice it every time I look at it for the next 2 years.
EDIT: Here's another hardware question; I compared my LED flash using the assistive light widget to an AT&T S3 and Note 1 and my Note 2's is way dimmer, is this normal?

Regarding the dent I would definitely return it.
A picture would be nice to see what you talking about..

Soft keys leaves a some kind of "mark"

When i tilt my phone left the soft keys moves to the other side of the screen, but i still can see a line of where the keys were and the icons. It barely noticable but still noticable even more when brightness is lower. Am i the one with this problem? Any way to fix this?

Its normal for super amoled screens. Try this app to correct it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bengigi.screen.diagnostic

quite normal with sumsung amold lcd, have same problem on my screen. no worry.
I have heard so many people complain about screen burn in on the Gnex, but mine has never seemed to burn in. Maybe I just use it less than some people? But yeah this apparently a pretty common problem where certain pixels get too worn out. I don't think there's any way to fix it aside from getting a new display (I really don't think an app can fix screen burn in, but I guess you can try).
Sorry, and I hope it doesn't get too annoying!

Anyone have like a light red/pinkish hue tint along the bottom of the screen and edge

I dont know if my eyes are just completely bugging out or if what im seeing is true. I got my replacement note 7 yesterday and everything went well but then i saw a red/pink tint towards the bottom of the screen i started to freak out but decided that i would let it fly til Monday or so hoping that its just glue or something drying up. Its more noticeable when the screen is on a full white screen or if the bottom/edge part of the screen is white but other than that you can't see it at all.

Sounds like a display issue. My Note 4 had half the screen streaked/covered with a similar color. It was really similar to what the blue-light filter looks like when turned about half way up actually. But it was only on about half the display, and in streaks so was more of a bother because it wasn't the entire screen. I honestly only really noticed it when I was reading my kindle app on my phone with the lights turned off, otherwise it really wasn't very noticeable in normal lighting conditions. Upon reading about this on google this can happen to these kinds of displays that Samsung uses. Might be something to send the phone back for a replacement. I'd really have to see a pic to know enough to know for sure though.
Sounds like a defect. Bound to be a few. Try massaging that area of the screen fairly hard and see if there is any change.

I had that issue on my silver Note 7 and opt to exchange it (after many rounds of persuasion and complaints with at least 3 Samsung technicians). Some see it, some don't. This happened right before the recall.
Thought it was only a random unit of mine, but since you also raised this issue, could be more widespread. FYI, my unit was international version. Also same pinkish hue at the bottom. My replacement unit (before the recall) did not have this issue.
My note 7 recall replacement is not here yet (Samsung announced our replacement only available officially on 29 Sept in my country). I too hope my recalled-replacement will not have the pink hue at the bottom of the screen.

Edge of screen touches not registering

Anyone else having issues where touching the edge of the screen but the phone not registering it?
Like in chrome or gmail or any other app that has the menu button at the top right of the app. I hit the 3 dots but nothing happens. I've even tapped multiple times in a row with nothing registered.
Seems I have to go further into the screen where the curved part stops and the screen goes back flat before the touches are registered normally.
I'm curious if this is normal or not, I'm seriously considering returning the phone for this so I want to know if it's just me or not.
Getting the same thing on mine. Only really noticed it on the keyboard trying to get characters on the very right edge. Already got used to it though and just changed how it tap those characters. Should really be fixed by Google though - even if it's just a software sensitivity thing. You're the first other person I've heard of that has seen this though, so....not at all sure how common it is.
I've noticed it to a few times, particularly in the top right corner.

Yep. Happens on the right side constantly.
Yes, a game that I play doesn't scale properly for the different ratio, and not only am I missing stuff hanging over the edges, but I also can't tap on stuff right at the edge. I am definitely remembering why I don't usually get day one phones (or 2nd generation phones, it seems like the 1st gen is always cool but lacking, 2nd has all the features but none of them work, and 3rd they finally fix all the problems... 4th and later are then usually boring).

Unless it's the Moto X you're talking about.
Gen 1 was the best. 2 had some new features but the look got butchered. 3 was a complete mess thanks to Lenovo. 4 after a 2 year hiatus isn't even an X. Just a Lenovo phone wannabe using their purchased Moto brand name and X line. lol
RIP Moto
Yup, I am having the same issues.
I have noticed the same problems as well.
And in Play Music when I try to touch the 3 dots on the album art to select download it jumps down thru the library?
I have also noticed that when using navigator for walking and carrying it in my pocket when I pull it out to check the screen it sometimes takes a while for the screen to come on?
No issues here.
Are you using a screen protector or anything?

No screen protector here. Touch response is terrible on my phone. Takes 2-3 taps for the screen to respond on certain things.

No screen protector. I am using a case, but I took it off and tested and get the same problem without the case too.
Noticed the same thing here on both the left and right side particularly when using the keyboard.
I've noticed something else though, I can run my fingers along the edge and it will scroll. But tapping in the same spot doesn't register so I am thinking it is software filtering out the touches.

I noticed the same thing. tapping on the far right edge doesn't register anything, but pressing and scrolling up/down, there will be a small delay and then it'll start scrolling. Pretty annoying, but should be fixable.
Same problem here... Notice it mostly on lower right. Keyboard and thumbs up in the messenger.
Same with me. I had extreme difficulty registering a key-press when typing a '0' on my keyboard earlier today. As on a normal keyboard, the '0' is on the right edge.
I cannot however seem to recreate the issue now.
Has anyone tried contacting Google support regarding this?
Thought I was imagining it, but it keeps happening to me as well.

I contacted Google support about the issue and they offered to replace my device with a new device.

Just found this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mycompany.anton_mokshyn.touchscreentest which lets you test the touch screen detection. With it I'm finding that the edges of the screen often require two touches to get them to register. I'd be interested to hear what others are seeing.
I feel like I'm the only one who got a non defective pickle. I've literally experienced none of the issues going around in these forums. Thank you lawd
