Soft keys leaves a some kind of "mark" - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

When i tilt my phone left the soft keys moves to the other side of the screen, but i still can see a line of where the keys were and the icons. It barely noticable but still noticable even more when brightness is lower. Am i the one with this problem? Any way to fix this?

Its normal for super amoled screens. Try this app to correct it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bengigi.screen.diagnostic

quite normal with sumsung amold lcd, have same problem on my screen. no worry.

I have heard so many people complain about screen burn in on the Gnex, but mine has never seemed to burn in. Maybe I just use it less than some people? But yeah this apparently a pretty common problem where certain pixels get too worn out. I don't think there's any way to fix it aside from getting a new display (I really don't think an app can fix screen burn in, but I guess you can try).
Sorry, and I hope it doesn't get too annoying!

Keyboard Burn In

Has anyone noticed on low brightness and a grey or white screen you can see the stock.keyboard outline? Is this common or should I get a replacement?

I've got that too! Doesn't bother me too much though!
Yeah, the bottom half of my screen also is getting a slight discoloration at lower brightness levels. It's just the way these screens work - if you get a replacement the new one will eventually do it as well over time. I've resorted to minimizing the keyboard off the screen as much as possible when I'm reading text messages or whatever app it may be.
Will the One X or the S3 suffer from burn in? I had that problem with the SGS2. I was hoping it wouldn't happen to this phone. I haven't noticed any burn in yet.
I've noticed it as well. Never saw burn in on my epic 4g (sgs1). So I found it as a shock seeing it on this screen. It fades slowly but I fear when it will never go away.

Are you sure it really is a burn-in per definition?
You know what, read this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22792659&postcount=13
Excellent explanation by chopper the dog who says it's not a burn in.

Your screen has burn-in? Mine has burn-out!

I first noticed this about a month ago, when I was playing a game. The top and bottom edges of the screen are either noticeably brighter, or are at a different gamma than the rest of the screen. It used to be that it was only visible during full-screen apps, but now I can see it faintly during normal usage. I haven't noticed it getting any worse in the past couple of weeks, but the screen is grainier than it was the first month I had this phone. I know it's not a ROM issue because I see it despite using different ROMs and kernels, and I can see it happen with the phone is first started up, before the OS can load.
Since this is not the same as the typical burn-in issue, does anyone know if there is a fix for it?
Get the screen replaced man. Doubt there is any simple fix for this.
I had ghosting issues and Verizon replaced it free of charge. Replacement is PERFECT.

[Q] Display Imperfections/Black Splotches

So I understand this is a recurring issue with some AMOLED displays, but is anyone else noticing black splotches on your screen if you put a fully black image on the screen, turn the brightness all the way down, and look at your phone in a very dark room? I'm curious how common it is before I complain. I'll post a picture tomorrow if I can capture it. It looks kind of like an ink trail near the middle of my screen. Thanks!

I just checked my over 2 year old SGSIs screen and do not see any blotches. You are also the first person that i have read about that has any problems. That does not mean youeare alone however. I have heard many running 4.2 complaining about black artifacts being seen on the screen.

Some people here are having the same problem while others are not... luck of the draw I suppose... doesn't really bother me but if it bothers you try and see if you could get another in its place

I have them on mine; there are two splotches about 3/4" long roughly in the middle, just left of center. Doesn't bother me though, since I can't see them during normal use.
Had the issue on mu-tiple Samsung skyrockets...the original note and on the s3.
I have seen them on some note 2 but mine I have not found one yet.

I have a small one at the top left of the screen. My first one was right down the middle. My OCD took hold and I swapped it out. It's the same thing on my new one.
Sure, I wish it wasn't there but you really have to have perfect conditions to actually see it.
It actually has something to do with inconsistent electrical charge or something. There's actually a team for this but I can't remember it.
LCDs have dead pixels and amoleds have these splotches.
The DROID Razor is really bad as is the PS Vita. It's just that tech.

I'm new to the GS3 and I have noticed a defect on the screen.

I bought my s3 yesterday. and Last night going to bed I have to play with again. I noticed when I have all the brightest low I could see a lot of black dots on the screen and a lot of black lines on the bottom of the screen. Is it just mine or your is too? Again I had my lights off and put the brightest all the way down on the screen. Then try on your phone to get a black picture and you will see. I took a screenshot of it but I can only see these black stuff with low bright. If this is just me I may have to return this baby
Common issue with this phone. Also on the s2

I also have the s2 and never noticed it
It's a common flaw with super amoled screens I believe
Here's a another thread on it

Its normal with most of the AMOLED screens. Doesn't really affect general useage unless you have OCD or something

i must be blind because i havent seen any defects on my s3. when i had the s2, there were a ton of blotches over the whole screen
No dots here

Yeah I noticed about the other thread. I got my phone yesterday and noticed it when I was in bed playing with it. I have the s2 t989 as well and that doesnt have the defect. I understand some of the old s2 have some defect on the screen color but this one is different. It looks like the digitizer was cracked. At the bottom it looks like a signature a bunch of black line and a lot of dots on the screen. Though when I put the brightest a little bit brighter its gone. It doesnt bother me. But This phone is new and it should not have any defect.
Common defect nbd. Not even close to how awful the backlight bleed was on my iPad 2 before I got it replaced.
I do Have the same issue but i'm not sure if goingto change my phone is under warranty!
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
known issue. However, my S3 doesn't have any or at least it is much much better than 2 my previous ones. (yes, I know how to check it and Im very picky; Im that kind of guy that goes to the closet to check the screen right after unboxing it). I didn't exchange my phone for this issue. i just happen to get a non-black dot one. Exchange it if you feel so. doesn't affect much tho.
This is on all OLEDs even mine, it is not defect and will not disrupt colors or brightness since they are visible only in pitch black, I don't even think they would replace your phone because of that

Burn In

Hi everyone
I recently noticed this black burn in on grey backgrounds. The screen works ok normally but is anything grey is displayed then a black area is noticed.
I tried several ways to fix it but with no luck.
Any suggestions?
I'll include a picture of the screen when I get home.

I noticed that too on top right side of the screen. Meh, luckily, I almost never have grey color on my screen
There have been a lot of people complaining about this issue. Nothing you can do about it. It's just a disadvantage of Amoled screens, for now you have to live with it or try to get a replacement.

I guess I will have to live with it.
I too almost never have grey screens except sometimes when I start some apps. Anyway I just wanted to clarify my issue and understand it better.
Thank you.

Burn in happens quicker on amoled than on lcd displays. Been widely publicised since the S2, but it's a hardware problem so you'll have to get the display replaced if you want to correct it. Most likely occurs if you have the same colour exposed for a long time. Blue makes burn ins occur quickly too, but anything light in general quickens burn ins.
Best bet is to use dark themes and avoid keeping your screen displaying the same thing for a long time
