I must have done something wrong because it said it was successful but now it will only show samsung logo and vibrate then nothing,no matter what mode i try(download, recovery or just boot.) when a usb cable is plugged in the battery charge screen will flash for a second then nothing. FTFY... Moving on. You need to make sure the battery is charged. It sounds like it might be dead. What button combos are you trying for Download/Recovery?

what is siyah when i do a search all i get is a galaxy s2 kernel is that what you flashed

Where did you get this Siyah tar from? What is the filename? Did you want to use it just to root the phone? Was it made specifically for rooting Galaxy S3's? I have a Bell Galaxy and flashed the whole pre-modified/rooted Bell system tar to get a rooted stock system (I believe it was in one of the sticky posts.)
But since you can't get into download mode... shoot.. that won't help you. I wonder if the USB Jig could help you at this point?

The siyah kernel is for both sgs2 and 3 you can grab either a zip or a tar. I was trying to just root it. I didnt read enough. Im using vol down, home and power to try download mode, and vol up home and power for recovery. anyone have any links for a usb jig? man there has got to be a way to get this thing working again...

Measure twice, cut once. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1727443
International Roms are not for Us/Canada GS3s. Do some reading first before you flash anything.

Use this link, make your own. You are not hard bricked. And this will get you back into download mode ( my son loaded an i9300 on his i747, same thing as you did, and it worked fine ). The resisters required you can get from radio shack or what ever you have close for pennies. Will cost you less then 2$ in parts and you don't have to wait for one to ship and arive.

thanks im going to try this right away.

ok so i pulled the battery for half an hour and was able to get into download mode! Phew! all is going well now. what a freking night mare! lol. Thank you to all who replied and lesson learned.

[Q] Problems with ODIN recognition

So it seems that ODIN can only recognize my phone if the phone is powered on and running but will not recognize it in download mode. I am using the same cables I have used in the past as well as the same computer running Windows 7. Running stock ICS FH13 Unrooted and trying to root but cannot because once I enter download mode, ODIN stops seeing the device. Have tried re installing drivers many times and all USB ports on the computer with different USB cables. Hoping that somebody has a suggestion for getting the phone to be recognized in download mode for me.

Yes debugging is checked.
Some more information. Turns out the phone (originally my friend's) needed to be taken in for service and when he did this he read somewhere about the USB jig to remove the custom binary counter. When he did this he flashed a gingerbread bootloader to use the jig. Only thing is, he didn't ask me for help (I've usually helped him out with this stuff in the past) and I think he flashed an international version of the bootloader. Reason being when I boot the phone it says Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100 where it should not have that last part. I remember reading somewhere about this and how it happened to somebody but they had CWM recovery and flashed a special zip. I do not have this option because of the stock recovery and unrooted ROM. Just wondering if there is anything that can be done to reverse this. I can run the phone and use it still but would rather root it and continue the way I have always done with my past phones.

Does it have the yellow triangle when you see that? My phone shows that when I have the triangle.
No yellow triangle.
Mine has said gti9100 before. Don't remember what I flashed. Think it was a leak through mobile odin. So you may or may not be screwed...

Hoping not but this is stock FH13. Did not flash anything and my computer/ODIN does not recognize my phone being plugged in when in download mode... Do u put your phone in download mode then hit volume up then connect to usb?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Yes, I go from full power off with USB unplugged and press and hold the power and vol down keys until I get the warning screen. I then hit vol up to continue and then plug in my phone to the computer.
With further research seems as though I am hosed. In download mode it lists my device as "product name: GT-i9100" where it should say "product name: SPH-D710" Still hoping someone can save me so I'm not stuck on stock but seems as though this device had a international phone's bootloader flashed onto it.

You could get Mobile Odin and flash using that. There's a lite option that will let you flash Agat's kernel and then you can go from there.

[Q] Did i brick my phone?

Ok, so i rooted my phone on my mac from galaxys3root.com
I then decided i wanted to root my phone from windows instead as i thought it was a more stable way (new to rooting)
so i went through the unrooting steps on that same website. downloaded triangle away and reset the binary.
step 2 was to put into download mode, so i help vol down, home and power button. screen went black and thats it.
now phone wont turn on, and wont go into download mode.
am i screwed?
So you were already rooted, then unrooted and tried to root again? Why? As long as the phone is rooted you can flash ROMs regardless of computer, as long as u can get all the files onto ur phone to flash in recovery

Then sorry, nothing I can help you with
I suggest taking it to AT&T. That was the only sign of life I had after I dropped my rooted phone, they replaced it under warranty. To be clear, my phone was under two out-of-warranty conditions, and it was replaced because the cause of failure isn't so readily apparent in this case. Just say you don't know why it won't turn on. Too easy.
mag7ear appears
When plugged into my computer, it says
found new hardware QHSUSB_DLOAD
does that mean anything
I think that means it's dead, though I could be mistaken. I'm surprised no one recommended finding a USB jig. They're supposed to force the phone into download mode when nothing else will. It's not clear if that would work in this case, but they're extremely cheap.

Send it to samsung They can fix it for freee.
But for 60 bucks or so JTAG can get it done allittle bit quicker
Before you try sending it away, I would try downloading MSKIP's Galaxy S3 toolkit. Make sure you have all the relevant drivers and see if the toolkit is able to see it and kick it into download mode. You can find the download link here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1633
There are very clear, explicit instructions provided with the toolkit - I would also take the time to view wwjoshdew's video, very helpful. If you are able to get the phone into download mode, re-flash a stock, rooted rom from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
Not sure what else to tell you, but that's what I would try. Hope it helps.

[Q] Can't get Galaxy s3 into download mode - phone does not turn on.

Hey guys,
My Galaxy s3 is pretty much useless at the moment. I had it rooted a while back and decided to unroot it. I used Odin and the stock rom for telus galaxy s3 sgh-i747m. Odin did its job and showed it was done successfully, however the phone never booted back up even with holding the combo buttons (VolumeUp+home+power). Also my computer cannot detect the phone driver via usb cable showing QHSUSB_DLOAD, but it does make a beeping sound when connecting it or holding the combo keys while it's plugged in via usb cable.
I used a usb jig hoping it would get it to boot into download mode but no luck. I can take it for a JTAG and get it fixed, but since I screwed up I rather spend some more time and learn to fix it myself. A friend mentioned about QPST in order to get it to download mode and using a similar stock rom reprogram the phone, which I'm not familiar with.. anyone can give me a hint how to go bout this your help is much appreciated
If you need more info or i missed something please let me know...

Rom Manager most likely partitioned your INTERNAL SD Card instead. You'd have to Flash Root66 for Android 4.2 via Odin.

I was on the pac 4.4 nightly, had flashed new nightly updates regularly for nearly a month with no problems, but then decided to switch to cm11, when I tried to flash that it gave me the bootloader error, so I went to the method that was a supposed fix for that and flashed it and thats when it went dead.
Same Problem
Hey guys I have the same exact problem heres how it started, which I think accurately describes everyone else with the same problem:
1) I downloaded the correct TWRP for my phone and unlocked it previously with ODIN.
2) So far everything is fine, now I find a nice new ROM which is stable and try to flash it. The rom was: FlashingDroid_S5_v2.2
3)First I deleted cache and dalvic cache as well, basically the default wipe.
4) I flashed the ROM and it said it was succesful, I click reboot, and nothing
Symptoms
1)No vibration
2)No screen image whatsoever
3)No signs of booting up with computer
4) Does not boot up using JIG method
5)Computer does not see phone
Notes
1) I tried checking the pulse of the phone W/out battery and gave me very little wattage, and eventually it drained out
2) Then I tried plugging it into my computer and the front red light went on but no power in phone and PC cannot see it
3) Sometimes when I put the battery in, it gives me a quick flash, from the flashlight on the back, OR it gives a millisecond of a vibration
4)Before I flashed I had android 4.3 Jellybean stock with root-again I tried to flash FlashingDroid_S5_v2.2 w/TWRP
Trials to resolve in which did NOT work
1) I tried putting it into download mode, with JIG but no battery and had someone put the battery in WHILE i was pressing HOME+POWER+VOLUME DOWN with the JIG
Results: It sometimes gave me a small vibration, but no results
2) Tried to install correct ODIN and KIES software
Result: Gave me negative sound on laptop meaning it does not recognize device-it does not show up in My Computer either
Having the same issue.
I used the FlashingDroid_S5_v2.2 rom. Wiped the phone before flashing, the prompt said successful and rebooted.
Then nothing.
No response from charging, power, download mode... nothing.

[Q] U.S. Cellular Galaxy S3, can it be saved?

Don't be afraid to be the bringer of bad news here. Here's what I did: I wanted to clear some space and start from scratch on my S3 (d2usc), so I wiped and used odin to go back to the stock 4.1 firmware. I updated OTA to 4.3 then I flashed CWM touch. From recovery I flashed SuperSU and the most recent CM11 nightly along with gapps. It was running perfect at this point. I made a backup and that's when I decided I was pro enough to flash a custom kernel in recovery. Specifically this one. Which I'm sure is a nice kernel, if only it was made for my device *facepalm* So now it won't turn on and I can't get into download mode or recovery. When I plug in to my PC Windows doesn't recognize it. I can hear the "plugged in" sound, but it sounds sort of laggy. When I unplug it I get the normal "unplugged" sound, but the screen stays black no matter what. I also get a red LED when plugged in without a battery. I'm thinking my only option might be a USB jig, but I really have no idea if that will work in this situation. So what do you guys think? Is it done for or salvageable?
Have you tried download mode? Volume up and power and home buttons at the same time. If you can get into download mode, your not bricked. Only option if download mode works, is to find a tar file, which flashes every partition of the phone. You must know how to use ODIN to flash a tar file though.
