Strange issue. I have swiftkey and thumb keyboard installed on my rooted JB. S3. If I am in a browser (only use dolphin or firefox) the keyboard will not display predictive and more importantly the double space for period doesn't work either. It does however work in any other app that I use (namely email and sms)
what's going on?

There are some fields in apps (think of like an "Email" or "Password" fields) that normally tell the keyboard to NOT use predictive text. For an example of this, go to Settings > Accounts > Add Google > Existing > and just type in whatever. Predictive text doesn't work because the app told the keyboard to disable it. Also the same way that some apps (I beleive Domino's Pizza app does this), when it comes for you to input a number (for example Credit Card #, Phone, or ZIP), they tell the keyboard to switch to the numberpad by default.
Long story short, this is as designed by Dolphin and Firefox (presumably, see above for details).

I just don't get it lol..
I keep going to program them and find NO real use for them.
I just use them for my gf, brother, and well nothing for the 3rd one
edit:
3rd one is now the browser
I have one set for music two for composing text screen and three for xda. Mainly use the compose text screen because I don't have to open messaging and then click compose, just click button then enter name and type text

Same with me - I use them for launching programs that I use heavily use the keyboard for.
first goes to compose sms
second goes to compose email
and the third goes to connectbot
I used mine with launcher pro to go to home screen. There is a menu on the keyboard, so I wanted the full set.
I add the "home button" quick launch with launcher pro, just go to "activities" and scroll down to launcher pro. It should be the first activity under the application.
The only one I want now is the "back" button.
I use it to directly text my gf with 1 click then type message

I only have one configured so far, it launches Voice Actions.
I have an ongoing issue between the two. SlideIt is the keyboard I like to use since it gives me options to select from when I use the voice input. After selecting what i wished used(txt), all apps will use the selected words except Handcent(displays nothing).
Handcent's owns voice will display the text it hears.
Stock sms app will use the SlideIt text.
Handcent refuses to play with SlideIt's voice. But it will the predictive KB.
Email's to each company have provided no help other than acknowledgment responses.
Looking for help here.
try touchpal in the android/apps thread. has themes too
I find it frustrating that I can't use text prediction when typing in the browser.
I am mostly using ICS Browser + and the stock browser, and when I type a post or anything in a text box (using the stock keyboard) there are no predictions appear?
Is there anyway I can enable this?
Cheers

this is a google bug, they hopefully will fix it. previously android did support text prediction in the browser. on 4.0 it somehow disappeared. lets hope google brings it back.
Hi Guys,
I've long used password apps on the PC that integrate with the browser/chrome to auto-fill passwords.
However I'd like to find one for my Android devices that does the same thing. All the password apps I've tried so far require you to use their own in-built mini browser if you want this functionality.
Does anyone know of a password app for Android that integrates with Chrome?
Or is it not possible for an app to have this level of integration? I would have thought it would be possible, as an input method like the keyboard apps etc...
Many thanks
Chrome by itself can remember them and synchronize with multiple devices. Just activate it in settings.

You can do this with Dolphin Browser and his Lastpass plugin.
LastPass will integrate with everything (not just Chrome), as it gives you a new keyboard that auto-fills passwords. Just install the app and when select the text-entry box for you username or password you can swipe-down on the notification bar and change your keyboard to LastPass. Hit the LastPass button on the keyboard and it will automatically fill in your username and/or password.
As I understand it, Chrome for Android doesn't have a fully functional plugin interface that will let applications build an interface like they can for Dolphin.
I have Verizon Galaxy s20 Ultra 5G with the latest update and just discovered that I have Chrome set as default browser instead of having a pop-up asking which browser to use, as it was for ages, and when I go to settings, apps and select Chrome it shows that it is set as default and when I tap there I can select another browser from the list but the button' Clear Default ' is missing . The same applies to every browser I have installed. Any help is greatly appreciated
Google is being so annoying lately... I had this same problem and found a solution:
just install a browser that you aren't going to use (or one already on your device) and then set it as the default browser. Then delete that app (uninstall it) and the default browser will be back set to none.
Just super annoying because if you hit the button again later to set a default browser you'll have to do this all over again
