Apparently someone was able to get usb otg working on t-mobile's version of the gs2. Can this be done for the epic touch 4g?

Second! I would like this as well. Could someone whip up a Sprint version so we can flash it to our phones.
bummer... zedomax was one of the first devs to work on our phone. not sure what the entire story is, but he phased away from the ET4G when he picked up TMo's GS2. what sucks is that he stopped right before he got usb otg working for us and got it for them instead. hopefully someone can get in touch with him and pick up where he left off
This is one of the features I was really hoping for when I got this beast of a machine. I would pay right outta my pocket for this....no bounty thread...no reward....someone tell me how to send money to zedomax to get this done.

+1 to this.
This was one of the features I was looking forward to as well.
Still hoping...
I also really want this feature i just got disappointed by the lack of the feature

Ok...so any input on the best plan of attack to get this going? Would a pm to zedomax be the first step?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
This would be AWESOME if zedomax can get this feature enabled on our phones.
It should be public knowledge as I would assume this is falls under the GPL portion in regards to the kernel, which is where i believe this resides. I would link to his thread via PM the kernel dev of choice to see if they can incorporate that into their next release

I think it would be perfect if calk's rom had it but at this point i would settle for any rom with the functionality
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
If it's kernel based which I believe it is, much easier to update and have support that way..... Easier from the user not the devs

No worries. I remember being excited to get this support on the xoom. I still have my OTG cable and a USB-SD card reader as well
Havent heard back from zedo yet...im thinking that with all the ICS and cm7 hype that OTG is gonna take a backseat. Maybe when development settles in I'll ask a different dev.....untill then i guess we wait

So I have wired tether 1.4 from the google code website. I can't seem to get it to work though. What version are ya'll using?
Rather than everyone make a new thread for every question about CM9 there is a tip sharing thread in General that a lot of helpful people visit all the time and Jdelano is the man at reasearching and getting you answers right here in Q&A:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1512831
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474205
Not flaming, just noticed a lot of new threads popping up and some (not this one) are for questions already answered in those other threads. Thanks.
I've seen people ask about tethering in all 3 threads. Question never answered. so I thought I'd be justified in making a question thread.

I understand. That is why I said it was not really directed at you. Sometimes you have to take the direct approach like this. I only use wireless tether myself. Sorry. Wasn't there an issue with the stock kernel and you had to use shadowkernel or something like that?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Its no problem man. I understand how we have to be sometimes around here. But yeah I tried shadow and it still didn't work. It would turn on and all that but it just wouldn't get picked up by my computer.

I've tried a couple cables. Both work fine on cm7. So I dunno.is it confirmed working for anyone else? Maybe I have a bad flash or something.

OK, you got me curious so downloaded Clockworkmod tether from the market and the PC drivers. I am typing this tethered on CM9 with it right now. I haven't used a wired tether since PDAnet before rooting so was a little rusty.
OK someone owes me a beer. I spent the last hour getting wired tether 1.4 working on CM9. IMPORTANT: USB debugging must be off. With cable unplugged and usb debugging off start the Wired Tether 1.4. Click to start tethering. Now connect the cable to the PC. It will install drivers (again...I know). When it completes the driver installation a new network will appear and $$$ Profit.

This has been my long running question that hasn't been answered. I'd really love to have USBOTG on my Xperia PLAY, and most people canned the idea because it isn't possible. But why the hell does Xperia PLAY's GSMARENA page state that USBOTG is supported? There must be something we're missing.
What we're missing is that GSMArena can be wrong. Originally, the Play was supposed to have OTG support, but it didn't come. GSMArena never updated the page to say that it's unsupported
...what is USB OTG? A portable usb charging device?

It's USB on the go, you can access your USB devices like HDD and Thumbdrive directly on your smartphone.

So for instance you could attach a cord to your Play, then connect a flash drive to the cord, to the play, and access the files on it?

Too stupid for them not to update it when previously the page also stated that the Xperia PLAY is "planned for Android 4.0 upgrade" and now it isn't there (well because Sony don't.believe canned it as we know). It means the page lately has been edited. Jeez.

Ik how you feel but the reason why they caned it is because ICS didn't have good enough support for the game pad so gaming performance would have been degraded. But if your unlocked then they got a beta from for the play for download

So I saw this and was looking for the same thing. Seems like the only way to get USB OTG on the Epic 4g is the samurai kernal, but it doesn't exist on the internet anywhere anymore. Anyone out there have the file for it or perhaps another option?
