USB OTG, any way get it? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

By installing some kennel or whatever i dunno..?

It was looked into, and couldn't be implemented. It's possible someone will eventually figure out how, but currently no.

Wasn't it there by default? I remember plugging usb thumbdrive once using OTG adapter..

Where to get the wireless charger mm
Trolled right back @ your face

Nice try but it doesn't work.

This has been my long running question that hasn't been answered. I'd really love to have USBOTG on my Xperia PLAY, and most people canned the idea because it isn't possible. But why the hell does Xperia PLAY's GSMARENA page state that USBOTG is supported? There must be something we're missing.

What we're missing is that GSMArena can be wrong. Originally, the Play was supposed to have OTG support, but it didn't come. GSMArena never updated the page to say that it's unsupported

It's USB on the go, you can access your USB devices like HDD and Thumbdrive directly on your smartphone.

So for instance you could attach a cord to your Play, then connect a flash drive to the cord, to the play, and access the files on it?

Too stupid for them not to update it when previously the page also stated that the Xperia PLAY is "planned for Android 4.0 upgrade" and now it isn't there (well because Sony don't.believe canned it as we know). It means the page lately has been edited. Jeez.

Ik how you feel but the reason why they caned it is because ICS didn't have good enough support for the game pad so gaming performance would have been degraded. But if your unlocked then they got a beta from for the play for download

~Q~What wired tethering apk are you using for cm9?

So I have wired tether 1.4 from the google code website. I can't seem to get it to work though. What version are ya'll using?
Rather than everyone make a new thread for every question about CM9 there is a tip sharing thread in General that a lot of helpful people visit all the time and Jdelano is the man at reasearching and getting you answers right here in Q&A:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1512831
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474205
Not flaming, just noticed a lot of new threads popping up and some (not this one) are for questions already answered in those other threads. Thanks.
I've seen people ask about tethering in all 3 threads. Question never answered. so I thought I'd be justified in making a question thread.

I understand. That is why I said it was not really directed at you. Sometimes you have to take the direct approach like this. I only use wireless tether myself. Sorry. Wasn't there an issue with the stock kernel and you had to use shadowkernel or something like that?

Its no problem man. I understand how we have to be sometimes around here. But yeah I tried shadow and it still didn't work. It would turn on and all that but it just wouldn't get picked up by my computer.

I've tried a couple cables. Both work fine on cm7. So I dunno.is it confirmed working for anyone else? Maybe I have a bad flash or something.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Can anyone say this is working for them? I still can't figure out if its worked since the first alphas.

OK, you got me curious so downloaded Clockworkmod tether from the market and the PC drivers. I am typing this tethered on CM9 with it right now. I haven't used a wired tether since PDAnet before rooting so was a little rusty.
OK someone owes me a beer. I spent the last hour getting wired tether 1.4 working on CM9. IMPORTANT: USB debugging must be off. With cable unplugged and usb debugging off start the Wired Tether 1.4. Click to start tethering. Now connect the cable to the PC. It will install drivers (again...I know). When it completes the driver installation a new network will appear and $$$ Profit.

[Q] Playstation Mobile on Verizon Xperia Play?

As some of you probably know, Sony released the excellent Playstation Mobile store to it's Playstation certified devices.
This includes the Xperia Play! (Super Crate Box anyone!)
http://www.playstation.com/psm/store/en.html
HOWEVER, the Verizon Xperia Play won't install it running 2.3.2 (needs 2.3.4). I believe there is an official (but buggy) 2.3.4 update that can be gotten OTA. However I purchased a blacklisted Xperia because I only wanted it for games and it will not do OTA updates.
My phone is rooted and has the X-parts recovery app installed for CFW and recovery.
What is my best option for getting this app on my phone?
THANKS!
I am on 2.3.3 Verizon R800x and it works fine for me... no issues

OK great, so it probably only needs 2.3.3.
So what is the best way to upgrade my rooted 2.3.2 to 2.3.3?
Thanks!
I'd use flashtool to flash the 2.3.3 update. Then use superoneclick to reroot your phone which still works on 2.3.3.
You can grab 2.3.3 from here (R800x is the verizon version which you maybe know but just making sure ):
http://xperiagamer.com/Stock-Roms/233-se-stock-firmware-for-flashtool.html
Just flash the 2.3.3 ftf file for r800x using flashtool.

Have you tried playing it in the bathroom or a waiting room using your laptop? Just not as good.
Hell even playing it on the couch sucks when playing on a laptop. Also not as good without a controller. Which yes you can use for you PC, but even less portable.
Is that worth $3.50 to be able to play on the Vita and the Xperia play for one price? Hells to the yes!
When i want to play SCB, i'll sit to my desktop. When i want to play it on my couch i'll just load Minecraft or Asphalt 7, because i dont need to play same game everywhere, all day 'n' night
Anyways i dont have credit card and we dont have prepaid cards there and also there arent any Google Play giftcards. And i hate warez also.
And i live in a country next to Germany lol.

That's great. Me either. That's why I play full scale games on my PC and small bite sized games like SCB on my Xperia Play.
So you want to judge me for spending $3.50 to play a game more suited to portables, on a portable? That's why you jumped in this thread? To attack me for buying a game on a portable that I could get for free on a PC?
Thanks for adding to the discussion.
LOL @ the ppl at XDA, srsly you should read that again. I just pointed that the game is free on PC and paid on portable devices.. That should be opposite. And you are talking like i punched you 10times to face and then said you are awful ******.
+ You asked, i answered = i dont care
Anyways to thread, isnt there any info from some creators that they will announce it for our Play?

When you begin a sentence pointing out something is fee with "LOL". That suggests you are laughing at someone for paying for it.
I didn't ask you anything, you just jumped in the the thread to LOL because the game is free on PC.
And nobody acted like you did what you described, that's ridiculous.
Maybe english is not your first language and you don't realise how it reads.
To be clear, I wasn't offended by what you said, just pointing out why the fact that is free on PC is irrelevant to my desire to play it on my Xperia. The game is amazing, it's a perfect fit for a portable and $3.50 is next to nothing. It's also the last type of game I care to play on a PC. The Xperia and the Vita is a perfect fit.

How to Make My HOX running JB Be Recognised as a Removable storage ?

Which is of no use because data recovery softwares wouldn't recognise it.:crying:

Its not going to give you Mass Storage though.. Its a device that allows you to display your phone on your TV, though I think a MHL cable might be more worth it.

Well, the Media Link is a device of its own, there's no other thing like it designed for our HOX's in terms of ease of use, but its only designed for HTC One series. If wireless is your preferred means then you can consider DLNA media players too, which many other phones can support.

And if they require a wifi router as a base station or they can create peer to peer network?
