~Q~What wired tethering apk are you using for cm9? - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have wired tether 1.4 from the google code website. I can't seem to get it to work though. What version are ya'll using?

Rather than everyone make a new thread for every question about CM9 there is a tip sharing thread in General that a lot of helpful people visit all the time and Jdelano is the man at reasearching and getting you answers right here in Q&A:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1512831
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474205
Not flaming, just noticed a lot of new threads popping up and some (not this one) are for questions already answered in those other threads. Thanks.

I've seen people ask about tethering in all 3 threads. Question never answered. so I thought I'd be justified in making a question thread.

I understand. That is why I said it was not really directed at you. Sometimes you have to take the direct approach like this. I only use wireless tether myself. Sorry. Wasn't there an issue with the stock kernel and you had to use shadowkernel or something like that?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium

Its no problem man. I understand how we have to be sometimes around here. But yeah I tried shadow and it still didn't work. It would turn on and all that but it just wouldn't get picked up by my computer.

I've tried a couple cables. Both work fine on cm7. So I dunno.is it confirmed working for anyone else? Maybe I have a bad flash or something.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk

Can anyone say this is working for them? I still can't figure out if its worked since the first alphas.

OK, you got me curious so downloaded Clockworkmod tether from the market and the PC drivers. I am typing this tethered on CM9 with it right now. I haven't used a wired tether since PDAnet before rooting so was a little rusty.

OK someone owes me a beer. I spent the last hour getting wired tether 1.4 working on CM9. IMPORTANT: USB debugging must be off. With cable unplugged and usb debugging off start the Wired Tether 1.4. Click to start tethering. Now connect the cable to the PC. It will install drivers (again...I know). When it completes the driver installation a new network will appear and $$$ Profit.

Second! I would like this as well. Could someone whip up a Sprint version so we can flash it to our phones.
bummer... zedomax was one of the first devs to work on our phone. not sure what the entire story is, but he phased away from the ET4G when he picked up TMo's GS2. what sucks is that he stopped right before he got usb otg working for us and got it for them instead. hopefully someone can get in touch with him and pick up where he left off
This is one of the features I was really hoping for when I got this beast of a machine. I would pay right outta my pocket for this....no bounty thread...no reward....someone tell me how to send money to zedomax to get this done.

Ok...so any input on the best plan of attack to get this going? Would a pm to zedomax be the first step?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
This would be AWESOME if zedomax can get this feature enabled on our phones.
It should be public knowledge as I would assume this is falls under the GPL portion in regards to the kernel, which is where i believe this resides. I would link to his thread via PM the kernel dev of choice to see if they can incorporate that into their next release

If it's kernel based which I believe it is, much easier to update and have support that way..... Easier from the user not the devs

Downgrade possible? Epic 4g

How do u downgrade from 2.3.5 to 2.2.1
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Download and flash ec05 with Odin.
Also, this should be in Q&A not Development.
...
I'm trying to find a way to root my sasung epic 2.3.5 with out a pc first... and its fuking fustrating me the hell out
Check the stickies for odin instructions, I think the wiki has links also.
Get odin on your pc, and the driver. Download a 2.2 build tar for odin.
Put the phone into download mode by holding 1 and hitting power from off, plug into usb and flash a 2.2 tar file with odin.
Bottom line is you're gonna need a PC boss.

Mobile odin would probably work... get mobile odin from the market and download all the neccessary files and use it just as you would with odin on the pc... never tried it but mobile odin is supposed to work the same as pc odin..
Edit- looks like you need root... sorry... pc is the only way... find a friend with a pc.

For one, I don't know who you're referring to as "most of us." Most DO have a pc. And when he said "pc", I don't think he meant windows only. There is heimdall as well. Just because you don't see the point doesn't mean there's magically a different solution. Don't get snippy with someone trying to help.
Gingerbreak was the only root-from-phone option, and I know of noone having luck with it on our phones.
As mentioned, your best bet is a friend with a computer... which "all of us" have.
And again as mentioned, this is not a development thread. Putting "noob" in your name does not excuse it. If you've been here long enough to post in development, then you know what does and doesn't belong here.
Someone please move this thread to Q&A.

Man, what a bunch of dicks. Yes, this is the wrong section to be asking this, but not everyone in the world is a bunch of elitist pricks just because they have 1,000 posts in a geek forum. This geek included. NOW, sir, are you getting a pop up that says "charging paused. voltage too high" or something like that? I had a similar problem because I plugged in to a faulty wall socket and it charged my USB port. If it's a hardware issue, you're going to have to take it to Sprint to ge swapped out.

Pretty sure nothing in that post indicated he did it by accident so.....your point of stupidity is moot....any who have you tried switching USB cords/Ports? Also try uninstalling and reinstalling drivers. is your internal storage showing up on your phone if so try downloading an el29 ROM such as caulk's stock then flash el26 stock cwm via mobile Odin (it costs a couple bux on the market) then flash the el29 then try using Odin. if you can't see the internal storage from your phone most likely have to take a trip to the sprint store

Click the box that pops up when windows tries to install the drivers (uninstall the samsung drivers to get it to pop up again) and make sure that windows is set to search windows update for drivers....I personally had this issue and no matter what set of drivers I manually installed I had issues because I had windows set to not check for drivers online...

Stock, rooted ff02. It was working fine yesterday and now all of a sudden I can't connect to the XP machine either. XP says it's finding the hardware but the drives are not showing up. The found new hardware wizzard keeps coming up also.
Nothing on the Mac, nothing on the PC.
USB Cable is really an issue on my Mac's. I have a cable that works on my PC's but it will not work on any of my Mac's. Also, sometimes a restart of both the Mac and the Phone helps.
Try swapping USB cable out if possible....and hook up the USB cable directly to the iMac, not the keyboard.

Or ignorance
I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.zatta.USB_switch
It switches the USB mode on the phone, after a phone reboot, in ics, to mass storage mode. I have a mb on lion but I'm on gb. I'm not sure if that is what you're asking. I know the USB cable that came with the phone is utter crap. I paid about twenty bucks for the sprint micro USB cable, but its built very well and doesn't look crappy quality either. I've NEVER had a problem on any phone using that cable. Also, try a reboot of the phone and/or Mac and try a different USB port.
I vote ignorance!!
