Rooted T989 won't connect to computer - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

So my phone won't connect to the computer, I have tried everything Kies on Mac, Kies Air, and Kies on PC and none of it is working.I'm running LiquidSmooth rom if that makes a difference. Please help.

I had the same problem on CM10. I fixed it by doing the following, i had to pull the battery and wait 30 seconds. Then reboot into recovery, then reboot into the ROM. Then by plugging it in, the USB storage icon should appear
Let me know how it goes.

You could also try uninstalling and reinstalling the Samsung driver for your PC.

so i did a pull, got into recovery, booted back to the system, plugged in and usb did in fact work.. however.. once i disconnected and tried to reconnect, it would not.. even more battery pulls wouldnt let it reconnect..

Try reinstalling/flashing the ROM again, along with GAPPS and the wipe (if you're in CM10 by installing the wipe, then CM10, then GAPPS) or if you're in something else, try reflashing if the USB connection bothers you

Thank you so much for this Umar, it was so simple that I have never thinked about this solution.
After trying on several different computers, with different cables, cleaned my phone mUSB mother connector with alcohol and put in some compressed air, changed 4 different ROMs, your solution solved my issue and now it works like a charm.
Thanks again!

LE: I didn't boot into Recovery, just Powered OFF my phone, pulled out the battery, waited about a minute and turned ON the phone.

Can't Connect USB to PC after JB OTA

After installing the JB OTA update today, I cannot connect to my pc via usb. The phone charges when plugged in, but the "usb connected" message doesnt pop up, and it does not appear in my computer.
I am using all stock, the same computer/cables that I used and worked before the JB update. I have changed no settings on the phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Maybe need to update drivers?
Uninstall all sammy stuff first. Kies, drivers, etc.

Thanks, but that did not help.
The computer doesn't even seem to recognize that something is being plugged in; no notifications, no usb connected sound, nothing. It's as if its just using the computer as a charger.
Fixed.
After reinstalling the drivers, I had to power down the phone, and then power it back up. Choosing the reboot option did not help, I needed to specifically power down.
Thanks!
it still does not work for me it is driving me nuts it worked yesterday pre update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF HELP

First, check to see if usb debugging is still turned on. Mine turned off after the update. Secondly, it's always recommended to do a factory restore after any update. Try both of those and let me know how it works.
USB debugging is on but im not going to do a factory reset do you how long it took me to get my phone perfectly how i want it

It's a shot in the dark, but i had issues on my PC when trying to connect my Vibrant to the front USB ports. I had to connect it in the back, to get it to work. Also, Did you run windows update yesterday? maybe it installed an update that is conflicting with your device. Check out device manager to make sure there are no conflicted drivers in there. If that doesn't work, try connecting to another computer. Is Kies air working?
Its a win xp and kies never connects

[Q] What do I need to do to get the USB drivers to install?

I'm on Windows 7 and for the life of me I cannot get the USB drivers directly from Samsung's website to install on my computer. It fails every single time. I've tried the PDAnet program and it still fails.
Usb drivers should install the moment you plug your phone in to the computer for the first time.

I'm pretty sure that the drivers are installed when / if you install the Samsung Kies software. A bigger download but might be worth the hassle.

I've been told that Odin is supposed to have a yellow bar when I connect my phone? I've attempted everything and I can't get it to recognize it. it says 0:[COM4] in a teal box
I'm going through the same thing. I've download the driver from samsung, restarted my computer but my computer still doesn't recognize the phone.
says "usb is not recognized" I also have this phone rooted with the serenity note 2 rom inside from a previous guy who rooted it for me. Not sure if that's why
but just wanted to give as much info as possible.

I'm not sure why it comes up as teal, but that is indicating it does have connection. I got that same thing with mine and it flashed successfully.
It doesn't have to be a certain color. If it shows ID:COM with a number next to it its working.

First, try a different USB port. Second, after installing the drivers go to Settings on your phone and turn off USB Debugging and then plug in your phone. It should start to pop up little message boxes on the screen indicating the installation of the driver software.
After it says "installation completed successfully" turn on USB Debugging again and then plug it in and let it install again until it says the same confirmation.
Everything should work now.

It is best to install Kies seeing as how the driver software comes from it.
I personally just download an .exe file of the Samsung Galaxy S3 Drivers and installed those so I didn't have to use Kies.

MicroUSB port only charges

Hey,
My One's microusb port will only charge my phone.
I'm not sure what happened but it started acting weird and the battery is draining faster than usual.
I've tried a couple different cables and computers and nothing is working.
My problem is my bootloader is unlocked and I can't relock it to take to verizon to get a replacement.
Will verizon care? Any suggestions?

Help please bootloop

Hey guys I just picked up a Galaxy Tab 3 Lite. I tried rooting it and installing a custom rom but ran into a problem. The tablet will not power on but if I plug it in to the computer or wall outlet, it turns on and off with the Firmware upgrade encountered an issue message. It literally flashes on and off with this message. I have tried getting into download mode and cwr but no luck. I also tried Kies but since the tablet wont stay on, it tells my my device is not supported. I spent countless hours searching the web for a solution. Anyone have any ideas?

HTC One x doesnt start up after failed factory reset

Hey guys,
So i wanted to do a factory reset on my Phone before i calibrated my new replaced battery.
To clear all battery stats, coordinates and normalize charging.
I tried doing it through hboot, which seemed to work.
The problem was it lasted longer then an hour and it seemed to be stuck in a loop or something, although im not quite sure.
I decided to turn it off, i tried again but the Phone didn't respond to anything i did.
Cant power it back on or get in hboot, the red led doesn't light up if i plug it into the wall or the pc.
When i plug the phone into the pc,
Windows does make that recognition sound it makes when pluging devices into the usb port.
Can i get my phone working again, i just got the battery replaced.
Or did i screw up my phone.

Throw it away..get a new (second hand one) on eBay. £30.
Job done....
The fault is obviously the battery from what you have said. Send it back and complain..
What happens if you hold volume down and power...
Well the thing is i got some important stuff i need on the phone so i really would like to bring it back to live if possible.
When i hold down the volume down and power button nothing happens.
The weird thing is i already had the battery replaced with a new one and it worked absolutely fine.
Its when i did a factory reset it seemed to be stuck in a loop or something cause it took forever to finish resetting so i turned it off,
and now it doesnt turn on at all. The little led light doesn't turn on when i plug it into the wall.
When i plug it into the pc though, windows makes the sound it always makes when plugging something into a usb port.
But when i press the power button (or hold it) it makes the same sound as when you would disconnect the Phone from the usb-port.
Its as if windows recognizes im trying to turn the Phone on and off.
Could turning off a Phone while in the process of a factory reset really kill the battery?
Kinda hard to believe if you ask me but then again i dont really know, thats why im asking here .
Thank for the reply though, its appreciated.

Years ago when rooting my One X+ it ran out of battery...
This was a total nightmare because it couldn't charge without an OS or while in bootloader......
This does actually sound like what's happened, your phone has totally discharged while factory reset...no matter how weird that sounds.
I found a script/program/batch file (I can't remember which one) that continually switched the phone on and off via my PC that actually recharged the battery....I know it sounds mad but it worked and it is a workaround for this very common problem.
See if you can find that script/program, it on XDA somewhere for the One X+ maybe it's for the X also......it may well work

So ive read the link you posted, seems like it could work.
But i have no idea how to go about it, ive never flashed a rom or rooted a phone before
Im totally new to xda-developers.
Should i go through all the 5 steps and would following those 5 steps change the os of my Phone?
Would it be possible to just follow the first step (descibed bellow) until the Phone has been charged and then try to get in HBOOT?
1. Get the follow Fastboot-battery-recharge.rar and place it in the samefolder as your ADB files.
- It will restart your phone every X seconds and so it can be charged while the black screen is on, this can take HOURS (It gets 2mV by every reboot)!
ADB files?
Hope you have the patience for a greenhorn like me

This is better because the sync manager is only bloatware!! It just has the drivers included so it was easier than extracting the drivers.....but just installing the drivers is a lot cleaner.

Is there something else i could do to get my Phone working again?
I'll still give eskimosound's idea a try, just in case
HW, I'm going to have to sort this tomorrow for you...we just have to put the sdk folder on your C: Drive root....then put the script file .exe in the folder and run it from there. The problem we have is whether your PC will recognise it's got the phone plugged into it powered down without it being in fastboot.....you may need more assistance because my skills are limited!!!
I have a spare day tomorrow to sit down and sort through it properly.
In the mean time find a tutorial on installing the sdk folder....
This is the only way I can think to fix it apart from sending it back to HTC!......keep searching as there are loads of threads on it...

I'll just buy a new Phone, the One x served me well but its time for a new one anyway.
Thanks for the help though its appreciated

So this is what I THINK you do.....
Unzip the Android Slim SDK anywhere but desktop is good.
Plug you phone into your PC via usb.
Copy and paste the Fastboot-battery-recharge.rar into the Platform Tools folder. (That's inside the unzipped Android Slim folder)
Unzip it!
Whist in platform tools folder hold down shift, right click and open a command window.
Type: adb reboot bootloader.
With a bit of luck your phone may spring to life...
I think next just run the Fastboot-battery-recharge.exe
(I haven't looked inside this RAR so am not sure what to click on but it should be self explanatory, you can always ask on that thread) and follow instructions...
Tell me what happens!!
It will work, it's what XDA do, fix things!!!
