Hey guys,
So i wanted to do a factory reset on my Phone before i calibrated my new replaced battery.
To clear all battery stats, coordinates and normalize charging.
I tried doing it through hboot, which seemed to work.
The problem was it lasted longer then an hour and it seemed to be stuck in a loop or something, although im not quite sure.
I decided to turn it off, i tried again but the Phone didn't respond to anything i did.
Cant power it back on or get in hboot, the red led doesn't light up if i plug it into the wall or the pc.
When i plug the phone into the pc,
Windows does make that recognition sound it makes when pluging devices into the usb port.
Can i get my phone working again, i just got the battery replaced.
Or did i screw up my phone.

Throw it away..get a new (second hand one) on eBay. £30.
Job done....
The fault is obviously the battery from what you have said. Send it back and complain..
What happens if you hold volume down and power...
Well the thing is i got some important stuff i need on the phone so i really would like to bring it back to live if possible.
When i hold down the volume down and power button nothing happens.
The weird thing is i already had the battery replaced with a new one and it worked absolutely fine.
Its when i did a factory reset it seemed to be stuck in a loop or something cause it took forever to finish resetting so i turned it off,
and now it doesnt turn on at all. The little led light doesn't turn on when i plug it into the wall.
When i plug it into the pc though, windows makes the sound it always makes when plugging something into a usb port.
But when i press the power button (or hold it) it makes the same sound as when you would disconnect the Phone from the usb-port.
Its as if windows recognizes im trying to turn the Phone on and off.
Could turning off a Phone while in the process of a factory reset really kill the battery?
Kinda hard to believe if you ask me but then again i dont really know, thats why im asking here .
Thank for the reply though, its appreciated.

Years ago when rooting my One X+ it ran out of battery...
This was a total nightmare because it couldn't charge without an OS or while in bootloader......
This does actually sound like what's happened, your phone has totally discharged while factory reset...no matter how weird that sounds.
I found a script/program/batch file (I can't remember which one) that continually switched the phone on and off via my PC that actually recharged the battery....I know it sounds mad but it worked and it is a workaround for this very common problem.
See if you can find that script/program, it on XDA somewhere for the One X+ maybe it's for the X also......it may well work

Oh wait, wait wait!!!!!
I think this one's easier...I know it's not exactly your problem but it does the right thing...switches the phone on and off....it takes a few hours though so be patient.

And lastly....I think you should try this first...just hold down both volume up and down and power button....until it reboots. It should boot to boot loader then you can power down and recharge...it might not work though as you tried volume down and power button....once again Good Luck
Alright i'll give it a go,

So ive read the link you posted, seems like it could work.
But i have no idea how to go about it, ive never flashed a rom or rooted a phone before
Im totally new to xda-developers.
Should i go through all the 5 steps and would following those 5 steps change the os of my Phone?
Would it be possible to just follow the first step (descibed bellow) until the Phone has been charged and then try to get in HBOOT?
1. Get the follow Fastboot-battery-recharge.rar and place it in the samefolder as your ADB files.
- It will restart your phone every X seconds and so it can be charged while the black screen is on, this can take HOURS (It gets 2mV by every reboot)!
ADB files?
Hope you have the patience for a greenhorn like me

OK I think you can just download HTC Sync manager and that will install the right drivers. It certainly won't hurt....so Google HTC Sync manager....let it install.
Power your one x up go into settings, power, turn off fast start up/boot....
Then still in settings go to Developer options and turn on USB debugging...
Plug your phone up to your computer and choose charge only..
I will pick this up tomorrow as its past midnight here but I will walk you through it as I will root my one x at the same time as writing your instructions....I'm a bit rusty....I root once a year and always forget how to do it!!
The next thing you do is open up the adb folder and a cmd window.....but as I said wait till tomorrow

That's a shame, it means we've got to carry on!!
So download and install these 64bit drivers:

I know they are old but so is the phone!! And because there's no power to the phone we can't easily determine if the sync manager has installed the right ones.

This is better because the sync manager is only bloatware!! It just has the drivers included so it was easier than extracting the drivers.....but just installing the drivers is a lot cleaner.

Just to add to your post:
Drivers for One x and older devices was purged a few years ago from recent versions of sync manager.
So you would be wasting your time downloading and installing it to discover the phone is not detected..and maybe H.W. Plainview already tried this :silly:

HW, I'm going to have to sort this tomorrow for you...we just have to put the sdk folder on your C: Drive root....then put the script file .exe in the folder and run it from there. The problem we have is whether your PC will recognise it's got the phone plugged into it powered down without it being in fastboot.....you may need more assistance because my skills are limited!!!
I have a spare day tomorrow to sit down and sort through it properly.
In the mean time find a tutorial on installing the sdk folder....
This is the only way I can think to fix it apart from sending it back to HTC!......keep searching as there are loads of threads on it...

So this is what I THINK you do.....
Unzip the Android Slim SDK anywhere but desktop is good.
Plug you phone into your PC via usb.
Copy and paste the Fastboot-battery-recharge.rar into the Platform Tools folder. (That's inside the unzipped Android Slim folder)
Unzip it!
Whist in platform tools folder hold down shift, right click and open a command window.
Type: adb reboot bootloader.
With a bit of luck your phone may spring to life...
I think next just run the Fastboot-battery-recharge.exe
(I haven't looked inside this RAR so am not sure what to click on but it should be self explanatory, you can always ask on that thread) and follow instructions...
Tell me what happens!!
It will work, it's what XDA do, fix things!!!

What I may have done wrong: I was trying to go back to stock because I couldn't get CWM to mount to the SD card. So I figured I would start from scratch.
I opened up ODIN, went into download mode, selected the PIT file and selected the TAR file. The thing was though, is that when I selected the PIT file, it automatically selected "Re-Partition Device". I didn't notice this until after I pressed Start. It ended up failing very shortly after it started, so I figured I'd try again without Re-Partioning. I selected the same files, and it flashed but it flashed weirdly. It only took a few seconds and then it said it was done but I remember it saying something like 0/0 completed or something.
SO NOW, when I connect it to my computer, it doesn't recognize the device at all. The phone is totally black. I've tried taking out the battery, sim card, connecting USB with both +/- pressed down and it still doesn't recognize it.
The worst thing about all of this? This was my brother's Christmas present and like the idiot I am, I ruined it.
I've read mixed things about a USB jig - some say that if I can't get into download mode without a jig then it's useless.
I'm open to anything at this point. I just want to get my brother his phone... If it does end up being that the phone is dead (we bought it at Best Buy), what should I say to them? Should I go through Best Buy or T-Mobile?
*Any* help would be appreciated.
A usb jig may work ! And you can make yours by yourself
Enviado desde mi GT-I9100 usando Tapatalk
take out battery, hold down power button/volume up/down
if you feel a vibration, the phone is not dead
if you don't take it to bestbuy and tell them the phone broke itself
Tried this - no vibration whatsoever. I'm not sure when you wanted me to plug in the power. If I just plug it into the USB without the battery the computer recognizes when I let go of the volume buttons. Like it's disconnecting from the machine.
It comes up as 'qhsusb_dload'.
Also, do you have experience with Best Buy? Are you sure I'd go through them and not T-Mobile?
QHUSB_DLOAD stands for
qualcomm high speed usb download mode
sounds fully bricked to me(dont quote me on it)
what this means is that if you send it back to bestbuy/tmo/samsung they will not know if its rooted or not, so they cant refuse to fix it
again, wait for someone of more knowledge to confirm QHUSB_DLOAD = full brick(although im pretty sure it is)

I think I may have bricked my phone also. I was flashing the latest firmware also, it almost completed and then Odin said it failed. Now the device is still in download mode, Odin can't seem to establish a connection, and I'm afraid to pull the USB cable out or power-cycle the phone. Anyone have any ideas? This really sux

DO NOT TELL THEM YOU WERE USING ODIN/TRYING TO ROOT THE PHONE OR ANYTHING
just tell them this happened when you were browsing or something
Ok guys I search this site all the time but this is my 1st post so please bear with me..
I have a Htc Incredible 2, rooted using revolutionary, I flashed a new ROM (Gingerbangsense) last night using Clockwork Mod, the screen stuck on the green htc letters, I did a battery pull and now the phone will not start up. I cant get into bootloader either. It charges, when i connect to pc it says does not recognize device, same with CMD
I've called Verizon before because i've dropped the phone but they fixed it before, i'm afraid if I try to return it because it's still under warranty, they'll blame it on me for dropping it
PLEASE TELL ME THERE'S A FIX
Htc screen
Pull battery then hold power button and volume down button at same time, will get you to bootloader, then select recovery, i assume you have clockworkmod recovery, if you have a backup just restore it.
YOUR SCREEN might be shot if you dropped it
make sure usb debugging is enabled
---------- Post added at 11:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:20 PM ----------
do you have the htc drivers installed.
do you have sdk-tools installed
ifso you should be able to use adb to get where you want.
Screen isn't shot I know for sure. I did the battery pull and tried power+volume down and nothing. I cant get into the bootloader. I have android SDK and it doesn't recognize the device
boy, thats weird!!! are you changing directory when you use adb???
cd c:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools ( enter )
then adb reboot bootloader
I'm a little new to the android SDK but i was using CMD and nothing would work. All the fastboot files were where they needed to be. I think it was completely bricked. Even now it wont even charge with a wall charger. I've heard about emmc chips frying. I just got back from verizon and told them that the phone lagged so bad that it wouldn't even boot. Theyr'e sending me a new one under the 1 year warranty
Thanks for the response! I do appreciate it
yeah best for you it doesn't boot, they won't know a thing
I went to flash a kernel via fast boot it was going all good till i tried to boot it up since then ive tried 3 computers they dosent recognise it the charger won't charge it wont go into fastboot and the only thing it dies is vibrate and show blank screen it dosent show any light from the power switch not even a red one any fixes i no about Alejandrissimo but idk if he can fix this one I think my play is dead does anyone have anything I could do and if I took it the pace I got it from what would they say would they repair it or what or maybe replace it on the spot the bootloader was unlocked BTW running ics

Use flashtool to restore to default firmware. Then re try
IMO it is not bricked, BUT you need to reflash the kernel or flash a different kernel. not sure if this applies to the R800 but do you have a charge only cable?

Did you download the proper ftf file for your phone and place it in the "firmware" folder?
This happened to me. Get flash tool and do not connect t until it prompts you. So select the file you wanna flash and such and at the end then connect your phone itll work. Just take your battery out each time you fail to make sure your phone is off. Believe me I was worried to but for some reason that trick worked.

I know you mentioned Alejandrissimo, so I just want to ask, how long did it take for him to get your Google Talk invite? I contacted him by the website and it told me that it cost 24 USD and to add him on Google Talk, I sent him $24 through paypal, the transaction completed according to the site so I'm sure he got it, but I've been waiting on Google Talk for about 3 hours now. I'm sure he's probably busy right now though. Just curious.
Okay, but the computer doesn't recognize the PHONE!
When I connect the phone to the computer, the LED flashes red and the computer says there is something plugged, but not identified, preventing the flash boot.
Now i can connect the phone to the PC, but only lights up the green LED (charging, i guess), even if i hold the "back" or the "search" button while plugging the USB.
This LED is the only proof of, at least, it is receiving energy.

It is not working for me. Could you guys give some more details of how you did it? I have tried already like 15 times and no luck. Also, is it happening to you guys that the phone will ONLY go into flashmode? I can flash anything into it but it will not boot, it will just stay in flashmode.
What I am doing is basically have the phone without battery and then start flashtool until it asks me to connect the phone. At that point I place the battery and connect the phone to the usb without pressing the BACK key, as it is not needed in my phone. Once the flashing is done, the phone goes into flashmode again.
Did this happen to you too?

Yep, sounds familiar. Is your phone unlocked? Is it r800x or another?

I got this problem too when i'm flashing doomkernel. Will try this when i got home. i hope it will fix my problem.
Okay, so recently installed the 4.4.2 OTA on my completely stock nexus 7 (unrooted, bootloader still locked).
Tried connecting to my PC via bluetooth (for headset) and noticed that it wasnt working (was working on 4.4), so decided that maybe a reboot would fix the problem.
And now the tablet doesn't boot. Completely unresponsive, no charging icon etc. either. Tried holding down the power button, power and +/- vol for 20+ secs to no avail. Connecting the tablet to my laptop makes windows update search for the QHSUSB_DLOAD driver. From what I've read this is supposed to be some sort of hardbrick?
I left the tablet completely stock and haven't done any tinkering except use the Wugfresh toolkit to do a backup (which only needed USB debugging on). Also the battery was definitely 60%+ before I attempted rebooting.
Help please? This is completely out of the blue seeing as I never even unlocked the bootloader or anything?
Please help!

Gone through both of them, tried the steps in the first one but I cant get to fastboot, still a blank screen and QHSUSB_DLOAD in device manager. The second one mentions in it's FAQ that the bootloader must be unlocked before using it? Mine was locked so I guess I cant use that method?

Hmm, well, last ditch would be to charge it overnight, and hold the power button down for several minutes, if that doesn't do it, you may have to just use the warranty.

No problem, keep us updated, too bad there isn't a 100% sure-fix answer though.

Alright so still no dice. Warranty is out of the question because I bought an imported version off eBay before it was officially available on Google play here in India.
From what I've understood this may be recoverable. People have made fixes for some HTC devices etc. Basically if someone could makes a "QCN" backup from a working device I may be able to restore the bootloader using the Qualcomm drivers. Or would this tool be of any use?

Not too familiar with all this low level flashing stuff - so need a second opinion. Will try again today evening, leaving it unplugged this time.

Yeah, I don't know much about that either, sorry, I'm not going to be much help there.
Ok, am I the first person with this problem? When the device is plugged in to the PC and I try holding down the buttons (tried almost every combo I could think of) the disconnect/connect sound plays and the tablet is re-detected by device manager as QHSUSB_DLOAD. Im extremely disappointed that this can happen even without screwing around with the system.
The warranty card with the tablet seems to imply international warranty although not specifically stated, it's from the US, so would taking it to an Asus center in India be of any use?

Only works for a couple of HTC devices, tried asking in the IRC channel and was told that it wont help at all. Held the power button for over a minute nothing happens, still the same in device manager although I can tell it restarts back into the same mode from the connect/disconnect sound.

Downloaded them, I think a USB driver is needed for the tablet to show up as a COM port, I've tried a few drivers but QPST Configuration was unable to connect. Even if it were able to connect I dont know what to do after that, it seems that some device-specific hex/qcn/xml files are needed and this is the mode the manufacturer uses when flashing the bootloader. Does this mean that my bootloader somehow magically corrupted itself?!

okay, i think i found a solution. search the factory image for the bootloader and flash with fastboot
try following the instructions here
http://forums.androidcentral.com/go...1477-guide-nexus-7-factory-image-restore.html
use "fastboot flash bootloader ****************#####***###*#.img" when you find the bootloader
GOODLUCK:good:
Or you can't get it to fastboot mode also?

That's exactly the thing, it doesnt get into fastboot mode or anything, I assume you need a working bootloader to be able to boot fastboot? If it was in fastboot I would have attempted this already.
Anyway the seller says that the item is covered under a 1 year international warranty, thats my only chance now I guess....
The thing that concerns me is that I was completely stock, locked bootloader and unrooted. Only installed the official OTA updates (no sideloading either).
For those who are interested - I finally had time to drop by the service centre. They replaced the battery and motherboard (it was under warranty). I was expecting them to do some magic with QPST or something though.
The same has just happened to me, but I'm out of luck, the warranty has expired.
Did anyone have managed to fix it with the QPST drivers?
thanks.

Take out the battery, reinsert it and then connect it to ur PC. If it shows up as QHSUSB_DLOAD, its dead.

Don't fret. Can you access bootloader?
---------- Post added at 09:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:03 PM ----------
Do a battery pull..leave out for half a min...put battery back in and hold power and volume down til device boots into boot loader. If it doesn't boot to boot loader, then its bricked. If you can access BL,its not bricked

Nope. Believe me when i say no. There is a program called QPST, made by Qualcomm which is able to detect the DHD in this state. But we dont have the necessary files for resurecting the phone.
Those files are only available to Qualcomm devs. I searched high and low for the files but got nothing. We started a thread for it somewhere in the Q&A Section.
To Shed some light on your problem, There are two things that can cause your device to end up in this state.
1. Either you have a corrupt bootloader, radio
2. Fried or burnt emmc chip or emmc controller.
My suggestions are you can send the phone out for JTAG repairs.(They would short circuit the motherboard and reflash your bootloader...that is if its a curropted bootloader or radio fault).
Or you could you could find another DHD with a cracked screen on ebay. SInce the screen is cracked, the price would be low.
All you would have to do is swap the DHD with the cracked screens motherboard with yours and voila!!
