I have a T-Mobile Galaxy S III and the last time I updated to 4.0.4 I was told I needed to get a Deodexed file, so I did, but I can't find that for 4.1
I have clockworkmod because I just booted into it and saw it, and I've got root on my phone. What do I need to do to get jelly bean and keep root?

Flash root66 stock rooted. Data should be preserved but I cannot guarantee
Sent from my Rooted Gameboy
I would recommend doing it through Odin to get all the partitions.

Had to exchange my rooted sg2 cause it took a crap. My question is this. When I got the new one it had the update on it already. Can I still root it? Do I need to wait for a new Juggernaut or can I flash 3.7 on my phone even though it has update?

Im sure you can still root with 2.3.6 the newest update. you can flash juggernaut 3.7 but you will have 2.3.5 you can wait for juggernaut to be updated, which im sure will have the latest firmware and wifi calling
You can flash the rooted stock ROM by Mr.X
You won't need to update your baseband since it's probably already in.
I rooted it through ODIN just like I did 2.3.5 with no problems
It is more correct to say that you can use the Odin method to root 2.3.6 SuperOneClickRoot does not currently work on our phones when they've been updated to 2.3.6.
I would follow babymatteo's advice and flash Mr. X's rooted KL1 rom. it runs flawlessly.
I rooted my phone & flashed Jelly Bean ROM - it wouldn't stop loading. So, tried to re-root, it did the same thing. I restored to stock. Stock isn't rooted so I re-rooted it from there.
So, with all that said, here is the question:
I want to install Jelly Bean. My understanding is that you must first upgrade to ICS, then to Jelly Bean. Is this the only way to go?
Thank you for your help!
:highfive:
No. What is your root method?

odin/hercules......
I'm assuming it also flashed CWM to replace the stock recovery...or no?
no. i went from juggernaut5 (gb rom) to cm10 (jb rom). never visited ics. just flash like normal (twrp or cwm).
You may have just had a bad flash or bad download. Try again with a different dl (and maybe a different recovery).
Sent from my beastly Galaxy S 2.
I am currently using CM10 on my rooted Galaxy S3 AT&T phone. Can someone tell me how I can get stock AT&T Jelly Bean with root access?
The root no flash count thread in development has been updated to rooted at&t jellybean. No data loss. Flash with Odin. It's what I did.
There are a lot of ways to do this. Flash the root injected file using odin. Flash the TW version using odin and use kies to update. you could try going right from CM10 to the JB update.
I was on rooted TW and I updated via Kies, then just flashed cwm, installed super user zip, and updated cwm to the latest version. Everything is working even google wallet following proper installation.
I hope someone can help with a dilemma I have.
I need to flash back to stock rom and do a factory reset on my AT&T SGIII - this I know how to do . However, what I don't know is if the links I've found for tar files for a stock restore (like the one posted here)are for the ice cream sandwich version that launched with the phone, or the newer jelly bean version.
If it is the older version, once I'm done restoring it back to stock and factory settings, will I get an option to update to jelly bean thru AT&T?
Or do I need to find a stock AT&T jelly bean file to flash? If so, where do I find that?
any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Did you update your phone to AT&T 4.3 stock rom via an OTA update? If you did, do not flash any rom that includes an older bootloader as the flash will brick your phone.

No. Ever since going to the Sonic FreeGS3 Resurrection rom, I have been on the 4.1.1 version. I've never been to a more current version than that since that was the last version update for this rom and I liked it just fine.
Even though I'm not wild about having to return to stock, I am at least excited about (hopefully) being able to go up to the latest version released by AT&T. But I wasn't sure if I need to flash a stock 4.3 version AT&T rom (or even where to find that) or if I could just flash the original released stock rom and then be prompted with OTA updates to go to the newer versions.
Any thoughts or input is greatly appreciated.
The latest version of the AT&T ROM is 4.3 which can be done via an OTA update or Kies from a stock 4.1.1 AT&T ROM.
Any reason you need to return to stock? Personally, I would not go near 4.3 as it's not required to install KK ROMS and, once on 4.3, rooting, etc. becomes more complicated.

I have to for work. That's the only reason I'm going back to a stock rom. Plus I want to trade my phone in after a few more months once my contract is up.
I will do whatever it takes to see if my data is still there. Then I need to get my warranty replacement.
I have a completely stock Note II (AT&T SGH-i317) that I believe is at 4.3 Jelly Bean I317UCUBMK6 (or ***MJ4, I don't know the difference). OTA firmware updates have never worked for my phone since I took it out of the box. Samsung/AT&T have no download link to an official 4.3 that I could use with ODIN to reflash[?] my phone.
I have had connector and battery issues for a while and suddenly last week my phone just hung at the AT&T carrier screen when I turned it on. I tried recovery mode>clear the cache and rebooting to no avail. In recovery it had told me it was unable to mount the EFS. I also saw online that there were, in fact, old leaked roms (4.3) from before 4.3 was released. Can I "flash"[?] to one of these from 4.3 not-leaked official? Again, not trying to lose any data...
I also saw this thread and didn't know if it would help:

Thanks and I will seriously buy you a beer or other preferred beverage/donation if you can help.

That's the thing though--I attempted to use ODIN with the stock 4.1.2 ROM and it failed. Then I remembered I had 4.3 installed. I can't find a stock AT&T ROM for 4.3 anywhere!
