First off dam he busy and does great work, my question is why is he still working on a at&t rom when we now have a tmobile. I see he has 3 roms going at the same time, some carzy **** I think he suffers from insomnia or is just that good and quick. He just updated a buggy at&t leaked rom he made and not the tmobile one. Just curious if anyone has a answer didnt want to clutter up dev section.

He created the two separate threads (one for Tmobile leaks and one for att leaks) Because the att leaks are generally further developed, meaning its more stable and the att leak is 4.0.4 vs 4.0.3 for the Tmobile leak. However, the Tmobile leak has functioning wifi calling and the quickpanel toggles, which are a big deal so he created the two separate threads. Both the art and Tmobile leaks have their draws and flaws so that's why he's not ignoring one for the other.

Really the buggy at&t rom seems to run better for me than the tmobile one since his last update.. really not very buggy

I did it in short format, I think he is well enough known, to know who I'm referring to, but to appease you I will change it. Also if I did not respect the man I would not donate to him. I think I have given enough praise for his hard work.

at first was buggy and needed patches to fix this or that , that the t mobile release had built in working. Lol to each his own but at least I learned something today.

I would just let him work like he wants to work.

I bet he's having a nice drama free vacation...

S3 forum seems to be less cluttered with roms...(reworded)

Where are all the devs? Is it me or does it seem that only several roms are on the first page of the Development forum? btw im not referring to the Original Development forum lol... It kinda surprises me with all the hype surrounding this phone that there aren't more roms being cooked up... Im by no means complaining im happy with Blazer but just surprised.

It'll pick up the gs2 was a little sluggish out of the gate too

I dont get what ROMS people are looking for. You have touchwiz, and there is only so much that can be done with that, and you have aosp...so much can be done with that. ROMS can only be modified so much and still be fuctional. If your comparing it to the epic, or the evo or something, your probably taking about themes. I noticed a lot of the same crap, it just looked different and "dev-c" called it a rom, but it was the same thing 'dev-b" did, that was the same thing "dev-a" did, each one just looked different, or had different apps added or removed.

Spot on. Original dev is pretty the only real dev, and its moving quite fast.
Cm9 here already works better than my old phones cm9.

Im not into roms anymore. Theres always something missing from the roms that stock had and then i end up going back to stock for it.

Well, if you're you're referring to AOSP, then that's correct, because that's what it is. AOSP is stock, barebone google android; no touchwiz, sense, motoblur, etc; those features are tied into the framework of that rom.

No I was referring to all of the roms not just aosp.

Yep the "devs" are hard at work on cynogen and aokp and doing amazing at it.. ......... they all deserve some thanks and recognition. We are maybe only a few weeks away from a really truly functional jb build. We Are fortunate to have real devs

Unless it gets pushed back like everything else Sprint has done, this phone should get a JB update most likely in August. Once it's updated and source is released I think you will see a lot more ROMS. I think they might be getting a little bored with ICS (even though there inst much difference between the two)

I should of been more specific. Lol I was talking about my rom experience from the SG2. I have yet to try out roms on the SG3.

I would just like to say I am entirely satisfied with the progress being made and as soon as I can comment in that forum I will tell them personally. I also intend to donate. That is probably the best way to get things moving. :laugh:

I think August is a bit generous. The Epic was supposed to have Froyo August 2010 but didn't get it until March 2011. I'd be very surprised to see JB on this officially before October.

I really don't consider myself a dev. Its one of those roms that everybody is saying is not "dev ". I actually agree, but some people still enjoy. But thanks though. But I think we still have some great all around devs in both sections. I'm sure more will come, but I'm definitely happy with what we have right now.

This phone has been in circulation for what... 2 months? Oh how beggers love to be choosers. This thread is disturbing, with all this "real dev" mumbo. Those that can write from scratch are few and far between. Don't take away from those whom spend countless hours tweaking leaks and source, allowing us the opportunity to choose what fits our likings.
Congrats OP! Way to demotivate those who are putting in the long hours. Until you can do what the "non devs" can do, I say ZIP IT!

Yeah I realize most devs are hard at work on JB... Like i said im not complaining cuz like one usuer said there isn't much to improve upon with this phone even with stock touchwiz... Coming from the E3d forums a new rom would pop up every week practically... but i see this is a different animal... Just cool to get everyone's opinion thats all...

Well, ya kinda started a fire storm. I'm not trying to be rude, but you should've navigated through the dev forums before posting this. Not saying the replys are your fault, but some of them are low blows to those who put lots and lots of time.

Not to point out the obvious but, it seems like you are the only one taking offense and creating a "fire storm". It didn't read to me like he was putting anyone down but, asking an honest question. The devs we have are great. Wouldn't trade them for anything. We are lacking in quantity though. Rather have quality than quantity so I'm perfectly ok with that. I guess I'm just confused by your comments though because I was looking for the trolls and flames and didn't see anyone taking offense to his question. Either way we are all entitled to our own opinions. I agree with both of you but, not your particular attitude. *shrug*

Paranoid Android for Us

I know technically CM has to be compatible with our phones and i know alot of folks would object to PA cause they prefer their rom with the TouchWiz element, but since the International version just ported PA and CM10 over to their phones, what do yall think the likely chance is that we could get it ported over? I do like TouchWiz and the whole functionality of the S Apps, but i also do like variety. What about everyone else? Would you all make the plunge to PA?

Definitely interested in seeing a PA rom for this phone. One of the reasons why i picked up this phone was for the PA roms coming to this phone. Loved them on my SGS2.

Ah, seriously, I'm waiting for PA to come out before buying this phone.

I really dont know the difference. Prolly radios? Id like to go ask the dev in the International Note XDA forum but im afraid of getting yelled at lol. Ill go give it a shot and report back if i hear anything. Wish me luck!:laugh:

I spoke to the dev, Utacka, and he said "Im guessing you need to modify the kernel routing to your modems. But thats just a wild guess without knowing anything about your model." So

Paranoid Android looks pretty neat, I wouldn't mind it at all. This looks good especially with the whole creative s-pen aspect of our handsets.

I'll see if I can ask moles for recommendations. I know he and Jesus are jammed this weekend bringing PA to 4.2. Regardless, we'd need a maintainer, and all of the other PA guys I know are outside of the US.

The S-Pen only functions like its supposed to on touchwiz based ROMs. No CM9/10, no miui ROMs and not even on some launchers.

Yeah i know we would lose that function and alot of us love it. I mean i do too...but sometimes i like the look and feel of PA. Especially all the customization of it. I love theming

Hm.. well, I've emailed Molesarecoming (PA main dude), also like, every dev in the T-889 community. Maybe after this weekend, some more developers will be T-889 owners.. crossing fingers.

PA looks so cool i hope it gets ported soon and i use my note 2 as a big galaxy s3 so the s-pen isnt very useful so it wouldnt bother me if it didnt work on PA

Ahh, I thought that rough S-Pen functionality was part of ICS (as in apps that use the s-pen sdk would work with it), my mistake.
However, it looks like the Note 10.1 and AT&T Note 1 ParanoidAndroid ports have S-Pen support, so I am still hoping.

I can't wait to dump touch wiz for a cm based rom

So this somewhat resembles good news for T889- from a pm from dev, ptmr3:
"From what I have heard there are a couple Devs putting together a device tree to compile AOSP from source. PA is compiled from source as well so I would assume as soon as the device tree is out together a whole world of possibilities will open up."
Most of the other devs I've talked to have their hands full atm, but at least this is something.

Wow thanks! That does look like a hopeful response. And thank you n pming the devs. So excited. Wish i knew more about deving but the only thing I've ever done is theme the notification bar back in the Nexus One days lol.

TMO Wifi calling

So if I were to move away from Twiz, and try say PACman rom, could I still get the WIFI calling app? I kinda need it while at home because I get little service and it's the main reason I switched to TMO

Nope, wifi calling only works with stock tmobile touchwiz roms. :thumbup:

Darn, kind of a shame. Is it in the framework or something? No way to port it over??? I know it's early since the release, but Would you know of a JB based Twiz rom that's debloated and running stable/fast? I'm still getting used to all the new ROM options. (Back in my EVO days we only had Sense and AOSP.)

Well you can try the Jedi Mind Trick JB rom by Ptmr3, it's a pretty awesome rom and wifi calling works too!

Think so. It's as fast or faster with aggressive memory mgmt going on. Very smooth jb4.1.2 rom. Which was the last rom tmo included wifi-calling in.
As far as I've been able to find out, tmo has used two different implementations of wifi-calling. The first was a spaghetti code type of deal that still drives developers nuts; the second was a very good modularized implementation done by a very knowledgeable contractor based on open source code.
By the time the contract was up, the developer had developed the code so far beyond the available open source code, they felt justified in charging for it's use and further development. TMo balked at this saying they're not making enough money to justify that.
So, the current situation is that the nice modular code cannot be further developed without royalties and the spaghetti code is something that developers aren't willing to deal with.
Mind you, all this is off the top of my memory from internet searching on the topic. I'm sure I've got some of the details wrong; but, that should give you the gist of the situation.
If you search the Whitehawxx (WH) jb-aokp thread for: wifi-calling; you'll find his position on the matter. In case you or any one else is reading this post don't know, WH is a well respected, knowlegeable, dilligent developer whom we're lucky to have working on hercules. His opinion is highly regarded by many.

Jelly Thunder RC4

I need some perspective here. I have been rockin Jelly Thunder RC4 (which happens to now be closed with no links to RC4) since late January and have had no desire to flash anything else. Prior to attaching myself to JT, I was simply a flashaholic like most of us. I have this rom tweaked and setup to completely satisfy my needs.
A few days ago, I called myself looking around. I did a nandroid of my current setup in anticipation of flashing one of the newest latest greatest roms. Ultimately, I couldn't do it. Am I missing anything out there right now? There appears to be a wealth of activity and some great looking roms buzzing with activity. Are there any other rogue JT RC4 uses out there that can relate to where I am right now? Do I need therapy? Lol... I absolutely love this rom. Sadly, it was abandoned but the developer abandoned a masterpiece.

Where would you suggest I post a general thought? Some questions are obviously rhetorical.. The purpose the post is simply to see if there are any others out there still rockin the rom and to give the rom some props.

JT was a great rom. I'm a flashaholic though so I change my roms like my underwear, a couple time a week. (I kid, I kid).
But for me newest clean rom is worth a try. It uses the newest international rom and is super smooth and great battery with lots of mods and themes floating around.
I also keep back ups of Jedi and Team Zodiac's rom. Both good choices.
Roms are opinion based of course but I don't see how you've kicked the need to flash.

Thanks for the perspective. I don't believe I have really kicked the need to flash. Just gotten hooked on something that completely filled every perceived void. I have been looking at CleanRom. Are you using the universal cleanrom or the ATT specific variant?

International all the way. Much better. No carrier bloat and newer releases as far as changlist straight from Samsung.

Hang tight, Wish and I are planning a rom when 4.2.2 comes out, if it does like they say. I have no answers to why truth walked away. Even if JT gets an update, you won't even notice the difference. I'm sure he checks xda, so maybe he can respond. Dought it.

I have rc4 if you need it...if you dont need it if theres no issues, just do alittle theming to it..one of those mythology aroma works on that rom..and change out alot within it..
Or you can wait for 4.2.2 and once we get are hands on it...me and Dafox will create a BEAST lol
