Hi,
i found an workaround to set phonepad to default.
1. Install "Phone Pad - International.CAB"
2. Install SKTools (Demomode is ok)
3. Set in SKTool under "Input Methods" Phone Pad to default
4. After restart run SKTool again
5. Remove all Input Methods excepting Phone Pad (Remove Key)
6. Softreset
7. Install GermanInputWM6.cab
Phone Pad is now the default Input Method after this. And the normal German Keyboard is in Inputlist, too.
There is anymore a Problem. Other Input Methods can only set one time after Restart???!!!
This workaround will not run with "Touch Phone Pad - International.CAB"!!!!! If you do that with this version, your PDA will not start anymore after set it to the default "Input Methods"!!??
Not Forget to change the LanguageKey in the Registry to 0!
Anyone know with file must be change to get the skin of Touch Phone Pad?

i think the freware version doesent have that function right?
anyway i need the italian language and i never seen a cab with italian keyboard around...
i found another workaround...simply install tons of times and set language everytime before open phonepad....1 time on 10 it works heheeh
with ur workaround phonepad works at every reset? because lots of time for me when i press "phonepad" in the menu it switch on normal keyboard without displaing phonepad skin...and then i need to reinstall phonepad
I found a better way!
Use this Too => IMSelector (Default_IM_WM5.CAB)
I found it here: http://pocketcm.com/phorum/read.php?11,801
With this Tool "Touch Phone Pad - International.CAB" work as default IM now without delete the original IMs!
im flashing again...
but i think it wont change anything
can u attach that file? the link in that forum doesent work
Here the file...
real thanks
with the new flash i found a way to use my language...but still disappear phonepad sometimes...
simply the first time i install it before reset pda..i choose the language then soft reset...
before select phonepad go to options and choose again the language (should be on the last u choosed) then confirm 2 times and the T9 dictionary is the right one...
i hope that with ur workaround i can eliminate the problem with disappeared phonepad

I think I speak for everyone when I say this: What?
Could you try explaining your problem again please? Concrete examples or screenshots would definitely help.
I think it's behaviour by design.
When you are typing on the keyboard, you don't want to take your hand off to tap on the screen to choose the words - it's much slower, and there is no spell correction, really, that's just word completion doing its job.
On the keyboard, it's speed typing all the way.

thank you for replying i was waiting for a senior to see my problem
i don't know how to take screenshots but i will try to explain
casue i really so annoyed with this bugg and another one i will tell u after u fix my problem
So simply, in the Xt9 setting there is 4 properties u can check them (v) or uncheck them
1- spell correction
2-World completion in xt9 mode
3-world completion in ABC mode
4- Auto-Substitution
i don't want the Auto substitute so i didn't check it
now when i use the keyboard with the xt9 every thing as it should
but when i the touch Full Qwerty its as if i didnt unckeck the Auto-Sub
its still working !!! furthermore if i tried to test it and even unckecked the world completion ..its still work in the touch Full Qwerty !! as if its not responding to what ever i chose while the actual hardwear keyboard follow whatever option in the xt9 i chose
did u got me now ?

So u mean i cant stop the Auto-substitue while taping the sms using
the XT9?
ok any way I have another problem and since the seniors r here i hope u can help me with it ..casue its more imp for me that the Xt9
its the TF sms
when i receive sms and i tap it in the TF to reply
it bring me the thread mode in TF mode also
in that screen there is menu from it u can message option
inside it is a request for delivery report
if u check it (v) its not permanent !!
if u go out and back again to that window u will find it unchecked
so to have delivery report using the TF thread mode i must check that every time i reply sms ??????
sure when i reply using the windows interface the delivery report comes normaly ( i stoped threading sms in windows using the Advanced Config)
is there a solution for that ?
some times even when i check it to have a delivery report it say sms can not be sent !!!!

There is no auto-substitute, at least not like on the iPhone. There is word suggestion function and before you finish typing the word (say, with typo error), you can tap on the suggested word to enter it, but if you finish typing the typo and you press [space], it does not replace typo with the correct word.

ok here is another thing i found when i disabled the TF
in the contact list using the TF, when u select a name and then go back to the contact list ..it bring u from the start of the list
while in the normal contact list without the TF, as in my old tytn when u go back from editing a name or even checking its data to the contact list
u go back to that name in the list , not to the top of the list
also the fact that i can't change the soft key in the TF , and the fixed icons in the start list which can't even moved to a lower position all those r another silly things i find in the TF
i wish there is a solution for that beautiful interface buggs
no one can help yet ?
Hi there, I maby got a little noobish Question for you, but I can't write with the S-Pen.
I can write with it on images, and on s-note and stuff like that, but I can't write facebook status, sms or other
places where u can use keyboard or s-pen. Hope someone can help!
In the samsung keyboard, press the button to the left of the spacebar and enter T mode. From there you can write with your s-pen.

Thats the problem, I have no T mode, think I have turned it off somehow!
Have you tried changing the language option under keyboard settings? I had to change S-voice language to English UK from English US, to get S-pen working on S-voice.

I was having the exact same issue with write input (not just for S-Voice).
Still don't know how it magically changed to English US while watching youtube video's but it did for some reason.
I imagine this is a Samsung bug as I don't see any reason why this should not work for a US keyboard.
I've disabled/removed all the English US keyboards where possible so this won't happen again until it gets fixed with a software update.
Thanks shadow_007 for finding this fix :good:

Hello,
Samsung keyboard default doesn't support Japanese IME on Galaxy Note 2 N7100 so I wonder if I can install addition pack or flash a cook ROM to make the Jap IME available ?
I know I can install another keyboard which supports Jap but I don't like it because it's inconvenient for switching keyboard every time.
Thank you.

Japanese has its own stock samsung keyboard separate from the Regular Stock keyboard. You'll need to get that apk and then get the necessary libs for it. Its annoying thats for sure.

If you haven't tried ATOK お試し版, it might be worth it even if you have to switch keyboard from time to time. You can take the trial for a spin.
There are a few other keyboards in my sig, to consider and play around with.

I'm not sure if all of them are actually necessary or not, but that's what got iWNN (called "Samsung Japanese Keypad" in the UI) and MazeC (for handwriting) working on my US (TMobile) Note2. The voice recognition will fail with a SIM card error unless you have a Docomo SIM (so go into the settings and change voice input to Google Voice - I'm not sure how well that works), and I don't think this gets emoji working (it probably wouldn't work anyway outside Japan).
The process to get them was a bit involved. I had to untar the tar file, then run sim2img on the system.img and cache.img... then after mounting both, in the cache partition, there is a file recovery/sec_csc.zip. Most of the files I listed above are in the system partition, but the rest need to be extracted from that zip file. Then you can put them in place with a root file manager or adb.... If that sounds like too much work, maybe I can zip the the files up (not a flashable zip) and post them here.
Besides that, I'm a bit surprised by the lack of integration compared to the built in keyboard, especially with the multiwindow (it doesn't detach like the builtin keyboard). Also, you'll have to switch back to the "Samsung Keyboard" to get the sliding input or decent English handwriting recognition. So, I'm not sure if I actually missed anything and it or maybe that's just how it works.
The theming/colors also won't match what you see in the videos - it's more gray like the default keyboard on US Note2, while it appears to be blue in the youtube videos I found.
Thank you for your hard work in testing and posting here but I am afraid that's not what I am looking for, I need the Japanese IME integrated right into Samsung Keyboard then I can just slide to change the IME right away without needing effort to switch keyboards. For that mazec Japanese handwriting we can just purchase from Google Play if needed, no need to flash the JAP ROM.
Moreover, I tested Mazec's trial version. Mazec handwriting is good, but IMO it's not as good as the handwriting of Samsung keyboard compared to what I've been using with English and Chinese handwriting.
But anyway, I really appreciate your kindness in testing and reporting :good:.

Basically you can't integrate Japanese into the stock Samsung keyboard, at least not yet. It seems to have a different IME on all phones, at least in my experience.
If/when Swiftkey add Japanese to their language packs then it might get added to the Samsung Keyboard as well.
If you want all your languages in one keyboard you'll have to resort to using Swype or Smart Keyboard Pro.

Why does when Swiftkey add Japanese to their language packs then it might get added to the Samsung Keyboard as well ? These apps are made by the same developer ?
Yes, I am using Swype but the reason I love Samsung keyboard more because their handwriting is the best one IMO.
The current Samsung keyboard uses the swiftkey api/dictionaries/prediction engines whatever they call it I believe.
And swiftkey doesn't have a Japanese input method yet. So I guess I'm making the assumption that when that gets updated then you'll see Japanese added for the Samsung keyboard too.

Just notice that you're from Japan. So could you tell which keyboard app you're using to type and handwrite Japanese ?
Honestly I don't do much handwriting as my character drawing is terrible! As regards keyboards try what has been recommended. I use either the stock Samsung Japanese keyboard or swype for ease of switching when typing.

Add Japanese locale?
I too have a Galaxy Note 2 and I'm bemoaning the lack of Asian languages on it.
I'm not bothered by having to install a third party Japanese IME as I don't type in Japanese much. What I really want is to be able to switch the device language to Japanese (and/or Korean actually) just as I can switch it to French etc, for testing purposes. I'm not even that bothered about whether a few glitches and so on happen; I just want to be able to test application localization on one device!
Is there a way to make the 7100 act as if it's Japanese, such that apps use jp resources and so on?
For localization, I think you are looking for "Language Enabler" ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wanam ), which should work on any (rooted) Samsung device. Just open it up, select the languages you want, save and reboot.
Although Korean was in the default list on my phone.

Stock to AOSP
Has this been tried on a non-stock rom?
I assume you are working with a stock Samsung rom and taking the files from the Japanese rom into the english version, but I may be wrong.
I would like to explore the possibility of doing this from a stock-japanese to an AOSP or cyanogenmod.
What METHOD did you use to identify these files? It would be of great help. I seriously want to use the mazec that came with my original rom into this cyanogenmod that I am using.
Thanks~~

What METHOD did you use to identify these files? It would be of great help. I seriously want to use the mazec that came with my original rom into this cyanogenmod that I am using.
Thanks~~

I'm hoping for an answer to this too. I'm using Assassin ROM and would like to get the Stock Japanese Keyboard and Mazec Handwriting on my Note 2. I wasn't able to crack open the pure stock Docomo image I found online, but I was able to extract most of those files from a zip that Robobob1221 pointed me to. I can't find 3 of the apks in yubimusubi's list:
system/app/DcmVoiceSearch.apk
system/app/DcmVoiceEditor.apk
system/app/DcmVoiceRecognition.apk
I'll see for myself soon enough, but wondering if anyone knows up front whether those files are necessary.
Seems most of the files from yubimusubi's post may not be completely necessary, but that may still be a bit premature to say.
I've only copied the fonts, VODB folders, Maruberi, iWnnIME_T0, Mazec apks and the following lib files to my system directory:
system/lib/libiwnn.so
system/lib/libmazecdict.so
system/lib/libMazecJpnDic.so
system/lib/libMazecRecJpnDicA.so
system/lib/libMazecRecJpnDicB.so
system/lib/libMazecRecJpnDicC.so
system/lib/libMazecRecJpnDicD.so
system/lib/libMazecRecognizer.so
So far, Mazec handwriting works (!!), the English keyboard of the Samsung Japanese Keyboard works, numbers keyboard works, and symbols/emoticons work. The only problem I'm having now is getting the Japanese part of the keyboard to work. When I press a key, the keyboard freezes. Gonna try and figure out which of the other libs might help.
But so far it seems that the voiceeditor.so files aren't necessary. But then again, I don't use voice recognition or anything, so I'm not sure.
UPDATE: I didn't want to hijack the thread, so I started one here. I managed to get the hiragana and katakana input working, but I seem to have broken the ability to change kana to kanji and now the kanji. Everything seems to work fine! If you're interested in what files I used, please check the other thread.

Same problem in snote. When you try to convert handwriting to text the app just closes. Math formula function is working though.
No solution but not an issue for me as I never used the function in the past 9 months
Only in Dutch?
I am a very happy user of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition and yesterday l finally upgraded my device to Android Kitkat 4.4.2. l live in Belgium (Dutch region) and since the upgrade for The Netherlands is still not available I downloaded the firmware for France on the website of SamMobile, using Odin 3.09 to flash the system as described.
All went well during the upgrade and after only a few minutes l could enjoy all features of kitkat on my tablet. The device seems to work very smoothly and fast, there are no hickups or whatsoever.
There's only one issue, and for me that's a major one: the s-pen! It seems to be impossible to use handwriting for text input when in Dutch. When using French or English there's no problem at all, handwriting works just fine and even faster and more accurate than before, but as soon as I switch languages to Dutch it all goes wrong. It seems to me that the handwriting function for Dutch is simply not supported since I cannot find the icon for stylus input when in Dutch too. I do find icons for voice-input (the microphone), smilys, splitted keyboard and settings, but no handwriting icon. As soon as I change language on the keyboard to English or French, the handwriting option appears alongside the others. So my guess is this issue is not related to the Kitkat-upgrade itself but to the fact this upgrade is not foreseen to be used in a Dutch region. I don't know if there's a solution, besides waiting for the official firmware upgrade for an region (Belgium, which is mostly included in the Luxemburg-version and the Netherlands). l hope there will be an upgrade for these regions very soon, l use the handwriting function a lot and if it would take too long I will be forced to downgrade my device to the previous version again., which would be a bummer.
For the other people who started this thread: what version did you guys install, where did it come from, for which region is it meant and what languages are you using when encountering those s-pen issues? Is the problem similar to mine or do you also have problems using the s-pen when in English or French? Just to find out what could be the cause of all pain...
Please, when leaving feedback add this info to your message: region of the upgrade and language(s) you're using when encountering the s-pen issues.
Thanks in advance & regards,
Rudy (Belgium)
Jep, language is the problem. When I try to set a language for handwriting in input settings, settings crash and I'm back on the home screen.
[E] problem solved: you need to update your language packs. Go to settings/language&input and then enter the Samsung keyboard settings there press "+ select input language" and then you should see a little "update" button next to your downloaded languages. Hit those buttons for the languages you use and after the update handwriting recognition should be fine again. Hope that wasn't too complicated

Hi there,
l updated the languages and indeed all works fine now. I didn't even notice there was an update available before, maybe it's not out for so long, but thank you very much for this feedback, now l'm a very happy user again! You just saved my life, I really didn't want to use the onscreen keyboard all the time. Thanx!
