Hi there, I maby got a little noobish Question for you, but I can't write with the S-Pen.
I can write with it on images, and on s-note and stuff like that, but I can't write facebook status, sms or other
places where u can use keyboard or s-pen. Hope someone can help!
In the samsung keyboard, press the button to the left of the spacebar and enter T mode. From there you can write with your s-pen.

Thats the problem, I have no T mode, think I have turned it off somehow!
Have you tried changing the language option under keyboard settings? I had to change S-voice language to English UK from English US, to get S-pen working on S-voice.

I was having the exact same issue with write input (not just for S-Voice).
Still don't know how it magically changed to English US while watching youtube video's but it did for some reason.
I imagine this is a Samsung bug as I don't see any reason why this should not work for a US keyboard.
I've disabled/removed all the English US keyboards where possible so this won't happen again until it gets fixed with a software update.
Thanks shadow_007 for finding this fix :good:

Does anybody know a way to install T9 or the newer version from the Dash on the S620? I really like the word-completion feature of my other smartphones and PPC's.
Thanks!
we'll probably have to wait until someone extracts the extrom of the dash rom
Careful what you wish for
why did you buy the S620 if it is to put T9 on it?
The only benefit of this smartphone is the full qwerty keyboard, it sounds a bit strange to want to restrict yourself to the numeric pad to type your messages?
It's actually the newer xT9, you're not restriced to the numeric keys -- it predicts as you're typing words with the qwerty keyboard. Future versions might be more useful, but I find it more of a hinderance now. There's no way to configure it or edit the dictionary, it kicks in when you don't necessarily want it to and memorizes passwords, as well as showing them while you're entering them. Where ever the dictionary resides, mine is full of typos and passwords. Would be nice if you could uninstall or just shut it off. You can press ALT then SPACE and switch to just letter entry, but at some point it'll come back...

I understand that T9 is directed more towards standard phone keyboards, but I use it on my Hermes all the time. When typing a long email, the word completion can save time.
T9 dictionary edit
I am super annoyed by wrong words being added to the T9 dictionary!
I tried using the msT9Ed.exe, but it seems to not find the correct file.
I did find a file called "eT9Cdb.cdb" in the Windows folder, but don't know if this is the right thing to edit.
Anyone found something lately to edit the T9 dictionary?
newer xT9

This is the first time I bumped into this issue, and I must admit it sucks
Here's the deal, in every single phone I had I've used the phone (UI) in english, and wrote text in spanish using Itap.
My last phone (nokia 5800) had no problems with that.
With this new one, Moto Defy, I see there's no way to change the UI language, and the auto-prediction separately.
I thought it had to do with the fact that Android by default doesn't have a T9 like keyboard for text input so I downloaded a couple of apps for that but all have the same issue, they work fine, but they keep using the language for auto-prediction set in Settings (which is English, for the UI)
Does anybody know how I could accomplish this?
Hope somebody can help =)
Regards!
I had your same issue and I solved it using "htc ime mod keyboard"; you can find it here on xda forum, not on the market (therefore you have to manually install it).
It's fully customizable, has T9 prediction, supports many languages.
Infact I configured the volume button to quickly switch between 2 languages that I use.

Hi
If somebody has physical keyboard connected via Bluetooth to XOOM please check is it possible somehow to use 2 different languages on it. And how to switch between it.
Normally I use 2 virtual keyboard English and Russian one, but I'm thinking to buy Motorola Bluetooth keyboard to type letter and etc. I know that on Moto keyboard only English alphabet, but it's easy to make engraving on it to have 2 languages, so I need only to check is it working or not.
As I know original Moto keyboard somehow could have only English language (even when you set language strictly to russian. The on screen keyboard will show Russian keyboard, but when you will touch the physical keyboard it automatically just types the English letters). So is it possible to change somehow?
Which virtual keyboard you're using for Russian? I've tried SmartKeyboard Pro, but the layout is not that good...

I use standard virtual Honeycomb keyboard)) But know I prefer to use bluetooth keyboard
I figured out how to use native keyboard after posting
I believe the regular keyboard will work once we figure out how to set Locale to Russian as well. I know Russian is supported by Honeycomb, but by default only English and Spanish are the options. Anyone knows how to enable other locales?
Tablet keyboard
i use an on screen r virtual kwyboard on my zoom that i downloaded from the market. it is call "Tablet Keyboard" made by "Pretty Easy" ther isa free onethat i tested out and it was great. it has an option to use a full keyboard or it split the keyboad in half with one half on the left for the left tumb, and the other half on the right. it also works in connection with the build in keyboard onmy zoom. so there always the option in th lower right hand near the time where you can switch between the two keyboards if you like. you do have to check the boxx in keyboard setting to make it active. i think they even have a paid version for only ¢99.

Try this:
Select Russian virtual keyboard as input and start typing on Bluetooth keyboard. I think it should type in Russian... But I don't have a keyboard to try it. Mine should be here in a few days, I'll give it a shot.

One owner of Moto keyboard and XOOM tired and told. Even if you have only one language Russian, the Moto Bluetooth keyboard still type on the English language(
But if you will get it, try to click SHIFT+CTRL or SHIFT+ALT (if you have such keys on the keyboard), may be it will recognize it. I read somewhere that Moto keyboard support hot command like CTRL+C or V to copy and past command. So may be it will change language of keyboard like a normal PC.
Thank you in advance.
Hi All,
Just got my Galaxy Note II, coming back to android after my N9...
I'd like to set the phone language to English, but have the ability to enter French words, and more importantly have the phone recognise things such as àéèç
Is this possible? I've been trying for hours now but for the life of me I just can't find the correct way to set things up. The phone is in English, that's OK. But as soon as I try the S Pen to enter text, I see the "space bar" on the keyboard only has EN(UK).
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Only french not working?
Ok, so I tried changing to German instead of French and it works. But when I select French, either nothing changes (it remains in EN(UK)) or -and this is new- it shows KR ???
Did anyone manage to get this set to French?

Same problem in snote. When you try to convert handwriting to text the app just closes. Math formula function is working though.
No solution but not an issue for me as I never used the function in the past 9 months
Only in Dutch?
I am a very happy user of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition and yesterday l finally upgraded my device to Android Kitkat 4.4.2. l live in Belgium (Dutch region) and since the upgrade for The Netherlands is still not available I downloaded the firmware for France on the website of SamMobile, using Odin 3.09 to flash the system as described.
All went well during the upgrade and after only a few minutes l could enjoy all features of kitkat on my tablet. The device seems to work very smoothly and fast, there are no hickups or whatsoever.
There's only one issue, and for me that's a major one: the s-pen! It seems to be impossible to use handwriting for text input when in Dutch. When using French or English there's no problem at all, handwriting works just fine and even faster and more accurate than before, but as soon as I switch languages to Dutch it all goes wrong. It seems to me that the handwriting function for Dutch is simply not supported since I cannot find the icon for stylus input when in Dutch too. I do find icons for voice-input (the microphone), smilys, splitted keyboard and settings, but no handwriting icon. As soon as I change language on the keyboard to English or French, the handwriting option appears alongside the others. So my guess is this issue is not related to the Kitkat-upgrade itself but to the fact this upgrade is not foreseen to be used in a Dutch region. I don't know if there's a solution, besides waiting for the official firmware upgrade for an region (Belgium, which is mostly included in the Luxemburg-version and the Netherlands). l hope there will be an upgrade for these regions very soon, l use the handwriting function a lot and if it would take too long I will be forced to downgrade my device to the previous version again., which would be a bummer.
For the other people who started this thread: what version did you guys install, where did it come from, for which region is it meant and what languages are you using when encountering those s-pen issues? Is the problem similar to mine or do you also have problems using the s-pen when in English or French? Just to find out what could be the cause of all pain...
Please, when leaving feedback add this info to your message: region of the upgrade and language(s) you're using when encountering the s-pen issues.
Thanks in advance & regards,
Rudy (Belgium)
Jep, language is the problem. When I try to set a language for handwriting in input settings, settings crash and I'm back on the home screen.
[E] problem solved: you need to update your language packs. Go to settings/language&input and then enter the Samsung keyboard settings there press "+ select input language" and then you should see a little "update" button next to your downloaded languages. Hit those buttons for the languages you use and after the update handwriting recognition should be fine again. Hope that wasn't too complicated
