Hey all posted this in the wrong forum, sorry for the double.
I'm running CM stable 7.2.0.1 bravo and I have some problems running a gps tracker. Starting off it seems to work fine, but once the screen saver is activated (automatically and via pushing the power button) the app seems to hang and gps signal is lost. It seems the icon in the system bar for gps dissapears as wel.
Would you know a solution on how I can prevent the gps from shutting down?
thnx!

Hi all i seem to be having a problem with the GPS in my phone, I have tried numerous roms and also edited my gps config to change the server to the nearest one to me (uk.pool) and also the port to 7276 like in modpunks config, but it always shows me 77 + miles from my original location, I have tried leaving GPS status (and GPS test running for hours but it hardly picks up any satellites (done this outside also) it just shows 1 green ring (not a dot like it did do one time) and doesn't lock on at all it just drains my battery. Is there anything at all I can do?
EDIT: I am running MIUI v4 (latest release from this forum)
Never mind, it seems to have literally fixed itself minutes after posting this after not working properly and putting me in yorkshire for days >.> sods law...
Hello all,
Not sure if it is the rom's issue (90% sure it isn't) or if the phone's GPS is just weird.
I just recently flashed CNA 3.6.5 with it's stock kernel. After I put a google map traffic widget on my homescreen and clicked it. I can see the GPS locked on but it would never turn off. I came from Vicious 4.1.1 v1 (without GPS fix) so this behavior is new to me :S Is this normal for everyone else for the GPS to stay locked on even after 30 minutes it is clicked?
Thanks in advance!
It is possible to disable totally the GPS?
I have it OFF in settings, but starting some app that use GPS it find satellites and obtains fix, giving my position !!!
My device is a P600 stock 4.4.2 not rooted.
I'm using AndroiTS GPS Test (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androits.gps.test.free&hl=en), and it shows WAIT in the GPS status while doesn't have a position and changes to ON after obtaining fix.
Doing the same in my Nexus 7 2013 kk 4.4.4 works as expected: If GPS is OFF in settings, the app shows OFF in GPS status and doesn't find satellites, fix and position.
SOLVED: After power off and power on again seems to work well.
I don't know what happened.
Can the GPS remain enabled but showing in the settings that it is disabled?
Really strange!
Hi all,
I have an unbelievable issue with the GPS, it loses the signal when the screen is on.
for instance, if im using waze it cant find the signal unless im closing the screen (putting waze on the background doesn't help), when i turn on the display it loses the signal again after a few seconds.
I've tried to change roms (eragon and stock), done factory reset, downloaded some gpsfix apps but nothing helped it.
Please if someone can assist..
GPS problem
When the screen goes off, it loses its location
I have got the same issue, it is extremely annoying - no way to use any trackers, or voice-only navigation. Have you tried a reset?
I have tried all possible battery settings - using both built in battery saver and going through hidden settings apps. I give apps "no restrictions" for battery saving but the gps switches off the moment the screen goes off.
On an older Miui phone I have no such issue (redmi note 4x with MIUI 10)
No such issue on my device....
I had to reset it up factory settings, but now it works well. Maybe the upgrade to miui 11 broke it? Now however, on 11 with GPS working fine while screen off.
Have you locked in memory which ever app you using to track via GPS. Also turn off battery optimization
