This thread will soon be locked with all the others. But before it is... My thoughts are, Check out the threads for roms you might like, Read features/bugs/working/not portion.. Go to last few pages of thread.. read what users are experiencing with lastest release. Find the best fit for you. There are TONS of options. I run The People's Rom, Ktoons Kernel combo (Available through flash) and you have crazy customization options using Morphology. (Which is supported in TPR) Overall consensus of that rom is.. Great battery life, Snappy, and just what the doctor ordered!

DK28 is the newest stuff we have. Nothing from December. :-(
I prefer Bonsai4All with ext4. You can do Bonsai4All (and many of the other ext4 roms) without switching the file system, too, if you don't want to mess with that.
I'd also recommend Bonsai4all. Great improvements everywhere.

Because it isn't finished yet. Video playing and recording are broken, while the camera doesn't have full functionality yet. Plus, it's still prebeta, although it's been pretty stable for me.
I suspect if the user is asking this question, they want something stable and are unwilling to take the time to try to see what's their personal favourite.
I recommend Bonsai4All and NebulaROM. They have been the most stable, have given me the best battery life, and the least amount of issues.
Video playing and the camera do work. Just no video recording. Honestly can't remember the last time I took a video though.
I don't know, good enough for my daily driver. I guess the little things may be more important to others though.
I like bonsai and quantum. Both are good.

stability wise:
Dl18 roms
1. Baked snacks 1.6 undisputed
2. Andromeda Galaxy 1.1.1a
3. Syndicate Rom
2 a 3 can be swapped
The dk28 froyo leak has bugs you might not want to deal with like if you dont flash the modem, lock gps, then flash dk28 the gps doesnt work... when you call ppl often you hear nothing unless you turn on/off speaker phone real quick.. and other crap thats not really worth the added flash support (youtube app still works on the dl18 roms just webpage flash videos dont)
But if you -really- want a dk28 rom i'd go with Bonsai4All themed. Its sexy. If you don't feel like dealing with EXT4 or CWM3 then epic experience is nice too.
Its funny how BThomas can lol at my post, but cant beat any of the scores Ive posted...Im down for a challenge...to BThomas,I know you know these ROMs all have the sae guts, but I use some on the edge stuff that just works in my ROM to provide the best speed and battery life.

I'm looking to upgrade my dads phone. He has a custom GB ROM I already put on there months ago but since sprint finally rolling out ICS I was wondering what was best...cm9? F18 leak? He just wants ROM that is stable and has hacked hotspot.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Well if he want a stable rom with Hotspot hack i recommend getting Phantom Blazer 4.1 Rom. But if he wants ICS roms CM9 will do.
I'm running M'ICS v 1.1. stable, good battery life and has sprint hotspot.
Let's be honest here, there are probably a dozen of these threads out here and I am quite sure a few quite recently. You could get a million different answers since it all really depends on the user themselves. There is so much that goes into deciding whats best for you I never get asking others. I mean opinions are great but personal experience is the best.
If you are just going to do if for every day use then flash the stock FF18, throw a recovery on it and flash the hotspot hack in themes and apps voila! you're done!
Sorry was not trying to flame I understand what you are asking just don't think a dozen people giving you different answers helps you. All the roms in development are great but all come with a little kwirk here or there.

Stability is one aspect, battery life is another. Best suggestion is to read through the threads of the roms that interest you and what style you like and test the battery life on it.
I personally like Wicked 1.5 and have 3 1/2 to 4 hrs on screen time. But that may not be the case for you. Based on what you run, how you run...
Browse away and give 'em a try but take head to flashing responsibly and read, read, read so you don't brick your phone.

Thanks. Yeah, I've been reading about bricking potential...it's one of the reasons I haven't updated yet.
I've tried to read through some threads of ROMs that people have said they liked, but with hundreds of pages in each (saying back to the ROM's release), it's difficult to take it all in...that's why I asked here (and tried not to start another new thread about it ;-))

I completely get it. It is alot to absorb.
There are 2 posts that I know of which are polling people about the roms in use but its all a matter of taste.
Besides the fact that some may be partial to a particular team, dev, etc.
Its just a hard question to answer.
Best solution is to try if you're willing. But there are safe kernals now and great people to give you advise if you get stuck.

Please let us know about performance, battery life, stability, and features, and please let us know if any of those might be affected by a custom kernal or settings. Thanks guys!

Of ones you listed I like AOKP best. Its just clean. IT feels polished.... Deff a possible daily driver if you don't mind bluetooth problems (which might be fixed by now anyway) point is its a good rom. However the one you didn't list in my title is JELLYBAM
Which I use and love. Its not as polished its a mix of 3 sorces... but its dam good.... plus best bat life I have got from a rom Unless you want one thats stripped down (then you can get more bat life) but I like to use my S3 and I enjoy hell out of it... anyway k
Try jellybam.... if its to not the norm for you just go with AOKP or Im sure cm10 be fine too... I never tried them though..
Later bro. There all good in there own way. Try a few its as simple as a back up lol
I've also tried Jellybam for a few days and battery life has surpassed the other roms I've tried (Tasks' AOKP and Liquidsmooth which I've used for about a month each). I mostly use my phone for web browsing, sms, and skype. I do not call much. I was pretty shocked that I was still at 60% after a day (used about 2 hours of screen time). I've also used ktoonsez kernel with the same settings for each rom.

all I want to know is do any of those have good, working bluetooth audio?
I think tasks Rom is the most supported but I don't use Bluetooth but if you do search the thread about people who do you might find a good Rom. I love aokp and tasks been my daily driver with updates always for about two months I can't go back to touch wiz I tried. Task and I use ktoonz kernel. Either way the built in kernel is fine I just like under clocking and when playing need for speed over clocking is nice to have hope I helped typing on phone sorry for errors.

Now i'm a new Samsung Galaxy S III user, just switched from an iPhone 4S on 2/19/13 and currently very happy and loving it more than the iPhone!
Anyway, I got a friend with a Galaxy S III and he suggest I should flash LiquidSmooth ROM, I did and I like it but i'm looking for something a bit more......bug free. Anyone got any suggestions? Pros and Cons to ROMs?
I heard that ParanoidAndroid is good but not sure, feedback?
Thanks!
Welcome to android!
Before a mod shuts this down because these types of threads don't get to stay I will tell your best bet is to read, read some more and then try some out. There a lot of great roms but your the only one who will know if its right for you.

I suggest a stock type ROM. Head over to the android development thread and try a few out. These keep stock feel but little tweaks here and there. SGS3 is quite easy to root and fix mistakes. Root, flash a recovery and explore some ROMs.

Its definitely a matter of personal preference, but my opinion is task 650 AOKP. By itself its a best but coupled with ktoonz kernel you'll be showing it off. As already stated the best thing you can do is read everything not just about a ROM but also kernels and general works, hate to see devs leave because people don't read everything before questioning them to death. Good luck and Happy flashing

Hey guys.. so glad this thread is open! Did hours of reading and said eff it...I'm signing up haha
Ive been a proud gs3 ower for a while now and have tried everything from CM, Liquidsmooth, AOKP, and many others. However, I have yet to find a rom with a good battery life. Is it true that there isn't really such thing?
I'm currently running the Liquid-JB-v2.1 . Seems to be running ok with only minor bugs.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

Battery life is weaker because those are the all aosp/aokp based on early stage 4.2 roms. Try a touchwiz rom until those get ironed out. I recommend intergalactic or dandroid or loserrom.

The past week, I've been trying to find a rom and kernel that would increase my battery life. I use my phone for many different things. However, I gave up trying to do so and I am reverting back to the stock rom and kernel, as I have heard that it gives decent battery life and offers the best stability. The only problem I have with this is that the stock rom is no where as smooth as aosp roms. Sometimes it laggy and it loads stuff slowly. Any way I can get around this? I know it isn't a big deal, but to me it makes a big difference.
In my opinion use a custom ROM based on stock firmware.and just test.

Believe me, I've tried. I haven't tried all roms, but what I do know is that I love custom roms because they are quick, responsive, and offer tweaking and customization. However, it isn't as stable and usually for me doesn't offer good battery life.
