DK28 is the newest stuff we have. Nothing from December. :-(
I prefer Bonsai4All with ext4. You can do Bonsai4All (and many of the other ext4 roms) without switching the file system, too, if you don't want to mess with that.

I'd also recommend Bonsai4all. Great improvements everywhere.

Can people put screenshots thanks

Because it isn't finished yet. Video playing and recording are broken, while the camera doesn't have full functionality yet. Plus, it's still prebeta, although it's been pretty stable for me.
I suspect if the user is asking this question, they want something stable and are unwilling to take the time to try to see what's their personal favourite.
I recommend Bonsai4All and NebulaROM. They have been the most stable, have given me the best battery life, and the least amount of issues.

Video playing and the camera do work. Just no video recording. Honestly can't remember the last time I took a video though.
I don't know, good enough for my daily driver. I guess the little things may be more important to others though.

I like bonsai and quantum. Both are good.

stability wise:
Dl18 roms
1. Baked snacks 1.6 undisputed
2. Andromeda Galaxy 1.1.1a
3. Syndicate Rom
2 a 3 can be swapped
The dk28 froyo leak has bugs you might not want to deal with like if you dont flash the modem, lock gps, then flash dk28 the gps doesnt work... when you call ppl often you hear nothing unless you turn on/off speaker phone real quick.. and other crap thats not really worth the added flash support (youtube app still works on the dl18 roms just webpage flash videos dont)
But if you -really- want a dk28 rom i'd go with Bonsai4All themed. Its sexy. If you don't feel like dealing with EXT4 or CWM3 then epic experience is nice too.

Its funny how BThomas can lol at my post, but cant beat any of the scores Ive posted...Im down for a challenge...to BThomas,I know you know these ROMs all have the sae guts, but I use some on the edge stuff that just works in my ROM to provide the best speed and battery life.

While there has been progress in the new ek02 rom's, including the android 2.3.6 update, I would suggest phantomhackers blazer rom, its fast and stable and very good on battery. Good start while the new 2.3.6 rom's get updated

I really like Calkulin's ROM. It's close to stock, which to me is an advantage, but includes some sensible additions. The latest version is based on the most recent leaked update and includes a modified kernal with a ClockWorkMod-based recovery.
I'd recommend new users check out qbking77's videos in this thread. They were a great help to me when getting started.

The "AOS bug" is not ROM related. Read the forums here for an answer to what it is and how to "fix" it.
As far as the "best" ROM it's all subjective but I would go for Calk's 2.0. The man knows what he is doing.
I have always used stock kernel and stock rooted ROM for this phone. This had been the best user experience I have had in an Android. I am so happy with battery life I don't want to change.

[Q] New Epic User w/ a few questions...

Hey guys I got my hands on a Epic 4G from a friend for doing some computer work and I have a Evo 4G as well. I really like the Epic 4G but it is so much different in terms of rooting and flashing, I have my phone rooted with the latest version of Gingerbread and with ACS Recovery based on CWM5. I am planning on running CM7 but I am looking for the best kernel to use and the best way to install them.
Also are there any scripts that are similar to Dark Tremors Apps 2 SD? Thanks for you time!

What are some good kernels to try that have good performance and wireless n capabilities?
Honestly if ur gonna run cm7 with the stoc kernal I would try that for the time being or follow the nightlies. But a couple of other ppl have kernals for cm7 but try stock first then go from there. I'm on nightly 15 and haven't found ay probs with it yet
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Everything good is in the top 10 in Development. You can't ask what is the best because each phone reacts differently to the kernels. Also move to CWM 5.027 since it is officially supported for our phone now. Once you move to CM7 you will be on MTD and either stick with MTD ROMs or Odin back and repartition your phone to try BML ROMs. Read through the development ROMs and kernels to follow the bugs and fixes some users experience.

I ran an evo for a week. It was interesting.
There is less going on with the epic as far as rom choices, but what we lack in quantity we make up for in quality. CM7 is very good and stable. With it you don't really need apps2sd because there is a bunch of space available. As far as a good kernel, stock is fine, but I have been using KernelSanders. It's stable, can overclock, and great battery life. I'd check it out

Are there any ROMs that actually work

Are there any stable e4gt roms that are better than stock ek02 with everything working cuz battery life is a poor trade off for working features in my opinion. Example if wimax is not working or tether to get more battery life whats the point

I am also not sure how to approach this. There are only a few roms that don't support wimax.. I suggest calkulins. It's my go to rom. I've heard starburst is pretty good too.. But in the future, please try to read a bit. maybe look at the roms that have a lot of view and/or comments. The OP of each thread will tell you just about everything you need to know.
IMO, there is no more stable custom ROM right now then UnNamed. If I wasn't so flash happy, I would stay with that but I'm changing ROMs every 2-3 days now...
But anyway, yeah UnNamed is the best ROM as far as stability is concerned.
Oh and I got over a day of moderate use from it. Don't believe me though, try it out!
Have not tried unamed yet

+1 for Calkulin's roms. Good battery life, stable, so far I have not encountered any issues.
I've been extremely pleased with Calkulin's ROM. I have tried unnamed (which I also like) but I prefer the 5 icon dock and 5x5 app drawer and undervolt/underclock scripts in Calkulin's.
No, none of them actually work...stay on stock...

MJHawaii is right.. UnNamed is a hell of a rom especially with a few tweaks added in. I am quite sure you will not find anyone unhappy with it. Also like mentioned before there is a whole development section of great roms. Just make sure when you try them all you do not restore data and flash all of them cleanly and not on top of each other.
For battery life on this phone may I recommend 200-800 since your phone can clearly handle it...
no offence, but either dont flash and stay on stock or there is always the good ol flip phones!

Got to agree with the previous poster that suggested you just stay on stock. I'd prefer not having to see posts/threads like this in the future....
For the record however, I've been happy with Calk's, Unnamed AND for quite a bit of time now (a whole month or so!) Blend is my current Daily and it is brilliant.
But you.... you stay on stock....

blazer is my daily driver.
i have not tried a single rom that has just flat out been unstable or unusable though; i steer clear of early/experimental builds, bust most of the roms in the dev section for this phone are pretty complete and comprehensive.
this is my first android device and initially i had trouble just rooting the thing, but thanks to xda's dev section my first flash was a piece of cake and i've had no issues or major complaints in 3 months of jumping rom to rom.
Just an observation. But your avatar shows you have at&t, shouldn't you be in a different section? This forum is for the Samsung epic 4g touch. Maybe thats why the roms aren't working. Unless you just havent updated your profile. (Im guilty of that as well)

thanks in advance.
This will NOT work on stock-based roms. If you'd like, I can post one for them later today. No guarantee it will work though. I don't run stock.
And I don't know what you are talking about. I've been running CM7 since late December. I have no bugs, it is butter-smooth, everything works, and best of all...being CM7, it is themable anyway you wish. For example, CM7 with the Lucid theme found here https://market.android.com/details?id=com.sonny.theme.lucid&hl=en
is beautiful. Add some ICS themed widgets, and it looks like you are running something even prettier than ICS.
No problems with battery life either. Been getting 18 hours according to Battery Left with a 1.8Ghz OC. You keep saying CM7 is an Alpha but quite honestly, there aren't any bugs on it (provided you keep the GPS on).

You want ics transitions. Go to uot kitchen. Upload what it asks. Go to the mod that says ics transitions and apply. Submit changes to the kitchen and wait until its cooked. Irll give you a flasha le zip if there were no.errors. Nandroid backup and flash. Walla!!!! Ics transitions. Ive done this before and seriously takes a max of an hour dependong on how many requests the kotchen is taking. Ive learbed to be resourceful and figure things out on my own. Also it doesnt hurt to check out the Android apps section in General. There are some good guides there for building base roms, theming and kitchen, building ziPS, extracting stuff. All those mods you guys ask the devs to incorporate are there and most are noob friendly.

Your answer:
Each phone hardware, app setup and battery longevity is different. Try them all out and see which fits your needs best.
You received that reply from Uber because this has been asked time and time again and it's the same answer. All it took was some time on your part to read through the general and q&a forums to find these threads a few pages back.
Good luck finding your ideal ROM and kernel.
