is there a lite stock or lightly themed GB rom? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
i love my xperia play but as most users the internal app storage is a problem.
i only use my phone for 2 main things, playing games and banking, this is where the problems starts as Barclays wont allow me to use the app on a rooted rom.
so what im after is a stock unrooted rom with all the crap removed, i.e. Sims, Bruce Lee, FIFA, timescape, Facebook etc...
alternativly is it possible to just get a custom rom clear everything out and then just unroot it???
edit: At the moment im using a Go Launcher theme and i love the fact i can set me apps to 5x5
Cheers
GTanny

scrap that ive installed nxt lite and using superSU ive removed root, no idea what to do if i want root again but ill find that out in the future

TouchWiz (Galaxy S UI) and Stock-UI for Stock Z

Hi guys,
since i will get my DesireZ next week, i am already searching for toys to play with on it
One thing i am wondering and i want to try out is:
1) Will i be able to turn off sense completely WITHOUT ROOTING/Flashing any other rom?? I think i read something, that HTC removed the Stock Android launcher, so.....is it possible to reinstall it by any apk??
2) Same question with Samsungs TouchWiz-Launcher - is there any apk i can install on a NON-ROOTET Z (without flashing) to run TouchWiz on it??
May sound stupid perhaps, but i guess i won´t root the phone the first few weeks, but i like to play around with Themes/Launchers/"Eyecandy", so i was wondering if any of the two points (or both) are possible
Thanks 4 Info,
BigD
You can install another launcher 'On Top' of sense, but Sense will not be removed, and will continue to run in the background. A few popular options are Launcher Pro and ADW (free versions) or Launcher Pro Plus and ADW EX (Paid)
The downside to this is that it will likely slow the device even further (before I rooted my Desire Z, I did notice some lag on the device, likely because of the stock Sense ROM)
Not sure about TouchWiz options, but after my experience with Samsung I avoid it like the plague =P
i know about these 3rd party launchers and that Sense will always run in background (sadly)
But is there a possibility to bring up stock Android launcher??? (APK or something?)
And/or is there a APK wit Touchwiz??
Yes there is an Touchwiz apk, just search the desire forum and youll finde one

Ok, i trust you if you post this here, that the APK will also work on my Z next week
And what about Stock Android Launcher??? (only thing i found until now was "Gingerbread launcher" - but is the stock-launcher really not in the stock Z ROM????)
No the stock Launcher isnt in the stock DZ rom. But u can use Gingerbread Launcher as u said b4 or pull the stock launcher apk from cm6 or any vanilla 2.2 rom
PS: Its another Forum, but there is the Touchwiz apk posted i used for testing on my dz http://androidforums.com/htc-desire/133164-galaxy-s-touchwiz-launcher-enjoy.html

Apk help

Hi im new to the fourms here and i had a question. When i flash a "senseless"rom, or roms w/o htc sense i dont get all the cool htc widgets, but i noticed when i flashed a rom by fresh i would see files called fresh removed apks and i was wondering if i could make those or some how get htc widgets over to another rom or something along those lines. Thanks a lot for any help.

Well if you wanted the removed apks, you should be able to long press them [after going into the folder] and try to install them, or you could move the using root explorer, ect and still install them. They are just apps the developer removed initially, but left them available to the user.
Senseless = no htc sense widgets ever.
If you want htc's widgets you have to use sense.
Senseless means that the ROM does not have the Sense framework, which is needed by the widgets.

Crash Bandicoot no longer showing in Play Launcher.

After installing a game that was converted with PSPXperia, it's no longer showing Crash Bandicoot. Even after uninstalling the game that was converted with PSPXperia.
I've tried uninstalling the Xperia Play Launcher app and Crash Bandicoot and re-installing it through Titanium Backup. No luck.
Edit:
I'm contemplating giving up on this stock ROM anyway. Only reason I kept it was for the launcher. Any ROM recommendations? What would be the best without any loss in functionality and still runs PSx games and such well?
Tried restoring the Crash Bandicoot APK from my CWM backup, still no luck...

Did you remove the PSXperia game? Is it showing up in your launcher or in the PS pocket app? If you wanted a new rom and you have a locked bootloader I would use Xperia NXT v1.2 If not I would look into flashing a custom kernel and trying out one of the ICS builds like FXP or AOKP.

Indeed, I removed the PSPXperia game before doing all this, after realising that Crash Bandicoot, nor the PSPXperia game were showing in the Xperia Launcher app.
It's showing up in the app drawer; it's just not showing up in the Xperia Launcher app. Don't think I have access to the PS Pocket app, due to it being r800x with Verizon and whatnot.
I do have an unlocked bootloader, which of those two ROMs would be ideal for gaming?
Edit:
I read something about a "GB True Ancestor" ROM, what's that about?

The NXT rom is a Gingerbread rom that looks like the new Xperia theme. It is great for gaming and is a fast rom. I used the True Ancestor rom in the past and it was great, but was lacking some visual features I enjoyed from the NXT rom. I am currently using AokPlay and it has had great gaming performance, despite it being ICS. I primarily used FPSE for playstation gaming and on ics it has full touchpad support.

Would there be any way to get the True Ancestor ROM to work on CDMA, or is it GSM only?
Thanks for all the help, by the way,
Also, I tried to update the baseband version while still on 2.3.3 and now wireless doesn't work. Which files am I supposed to flash for the baseband? I assumed it was all that were omitted when I unchecked "baseband" in flashtool.

I don't have a CDMA device, so I'm not entirely sure. There are a few roms available for the r800x, though. I would flash the AOKP Rom and the specified kernel. There is a CDMA fix for it in the download links. I am using the linaro build and it is overclocked to 1.6, it is superfast. The only downside is that I cant get the Crash apk to work with the rom.

[Q] New phone just rooted now which rom is for me

Hi, I got this phone yesterday ( LT15a) and rooted (thanks again to everyone who does thios stuff just for the fun of it).
ics 4.04 kernel 2.6.329-perf build number 4.1.b.o.587
I do not use this for many games, i am not a big utube user etc or a facebook user etc I am looking for great battery life (till i get get a bigger battery) any ideas which i was going to say Rom is for me? there are too many for me to guess? I used wolfs rom 6 with the x10
Also I am rooted but titanium backup will not work because I dont have busy box installed .I used titanium backup to freeze or delete all the useless crap that was on my phone I would nrever use . I am guessing this is still the best way to do it with this phone? Any clue where I can get that? With my x10 i used flashtool and got busybox that way i think it was like 2 years ago and i do not remember.
Thanks for your time
And no search before you ask comments please I have been reading for hours and I am continuing to thanks
You can install busy box from play store.
The Rom depend if you've unlocked bootloader, as most require a custom kernel.
I use pureness Rom with stock kernel and it is ok.
Rom is personal choice if you like layout, mod, options etc that the dev make for the Rom.
Sent from my LT18i using xda premium
Depends if your bootloader is unlocked or not.
Sent from my Arc S
oops did not unlock the bootloader. Guess i need to go read up on that lol
As said Roms are all down to personal preference and what you want out of your fone....
Personally ive tried about 10 on my fone in the past 2 weeks, Its addictive!!
But I must say im loving Max & Jaders ICS/JB remix rom they released last night (build 2 coming soon) its in developer forum :good:
Its super smooth and bug free for me at the moment using LT18i with ArcKnight Kernal, unlocked bootloader

You can access even the adv options in the alarm settings? Does new alarms come with a predefined wake up tune?
Also, light notifications for SMS are working? Here none that I listed works...

[Q] S View ROMS

Hi guys,
I recently bought an SIV mini and I am thinking about getting the S View Cover. Is the S View supported by many ROMS?
I desperately want to change the ROM because the original one comes with so many apps which I won't use and I can't uninstall.
I am assuming I will have to install a ROM with touchwiz, right? or are there any others like Miui or plain Android ROMS supporting this?
Thanks for your help!

Only stock roms support S-View or roms made from stock
CM/Aokp/SlimKat/Carbon does not support S-View

Thanks SilviuMik! I suppose all the official stock roms come with all these unnecessary apps which can't be uninstalled, right? tripadvisor, flipboard...
Then I should focus on looking for a custom rom obtained from the stock rom where all these apps were removed, correct?
I will take a look to the S Views apps in the market as well...

U are right They can`t be unistalled but they can be disabled without root From app settings
However there're few 3rd party app that can emulate some feature of S-View, eg: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hatroid.sview&hl=en
I flashed stock, rooted it and deleted the apps I didnt want with root explorer. Now I'm happy with my phone and s-view.
